Pre-kids yes, post-kids no.

Loved going out NYE when I wasn't married, absolutely zero desire to go back out since.
I'm kinda in this camp. Pre-kids, definitely. For the past couple years I went out. Last year I treated myself to dinner/football and then hit up my usual dive. It was boring, so I started investigating what else what going on. Found that a few girls in my college Facebook group were meeting at a bar about 20 minutes away, so I hopped in an Uber (an expensive one at that) and met up with them. They ended up leaving well before midnight and it really wasn't all that fun so I left too. Ended up ringing in the new year sitting in an Uber on the way home in the rain. Super depressing.

This year I met a buddy for a nice meal, ended up running into a bunch of his neighbor friends so it was more like a dinner party. Had a couple of drinks, went to the dive bar and had one more... but looked at the time (just after 8pm) and figured there'd be no way I lasted 4 hours at the bar, so just went home. Layed on the couch for a bit and just went to bed, asleep well before midnight. The boy tried waking me up to go do sparklers (a NYE tradition in our household) but I just grunted and went back to sleep.

Probably won't be going out next NYE unless I have a date.

This is kind of depressing....you okay GB?

Of course. The world was going to end due to Y2K.
I remember watching the Paris fireworks on TV that day, with no tragic computer crashes, and it occurring to me that if all computers stopped working at midnight, we would know it in the US hours before it happened.

Felt pretty stupid at that moment.

I wasn't one thinking the world would end but man did we spend thousands of hours redoing our system to account for 4 digit years........

It was kind of a big deal to get it right in that regard

Probably the best prank I've ever pulled off was with a buddy of mine when we were at a huge frat party for NYE at Leigh University for Y2k. I noticed that their main TV was the same one I had and I both knew that you could program to turn it automatically off at a specific time and how to do it. So my buddy got people distracted as I programmed it.

Midnight rolls around and like 50 drunk college idiots are standing around this TV watching the ball drop. The TV turns off right at midnight and my buddy simultaneously hits the lights. The following moments of confusion and some terror were... *chef's kiss*

I'm fine. My main circle is mostly married with kids so aren't really going out for NYE anymore. I probably should have just stayed home, honestly. The dinner was quite enjoyable.

I think there's a song about this

All depends on if I can get dogsitters. With all the NFL games on NYE this year, didn't really try. Have next year's already locked in though

I worked NYE and place was busy for early dinner. Place was closed at 10, few people were out, many were at the casino. NYE on a Sunday isn’t very desirable, people are doing things all weekend.
