Better question what is in a hotdog?
I'll only eat a few brands.Hebrew NationalBoars HeadNathan'sThose dogs seems to be much higher quality than all the other brands.
I hate Nathan's and love Hebrew National. Only mustard here and a ton of it.
Nothing but Heebs in our house. I'll be damned if some crappy Oscar Meyer or Bar-S makes it onto my grill.
Grilling some Hebrew Nationals in about in hour. This will be my maiden voyage and I can't wait.
I live in the country and a local market cuts up 100% all beef 1/4 lb hot dogs that you can buy 5 lbs for 15 bucks at sale price, which seems to be about once a month. I buy 5 lbs about twice a summer.... When I buy them, I throw a batch of chili together, eat if of course, and then use the leftover chili, with chopped onions, shredded sharp cheddar, spicy mustard, and then grab some sub/brats buns and make a nice sloppy coney.

What would your choice be for hot dog cooking if you didn't have access to a full-size grill?

- Boil

- Pan fry

- Foreman grill

May or may not answer yours.

fresh butcher dogs from the polish deli around the corner. raw onions and a bit of spicy mustard on a split top roll

or an italian dog with cooked onions and peppers on a large roll.

get me to spring.

Cut and Foreman. Done it.

Also, just plain. I need to work on my condiment aversion, unless it's grilled onions and peppers.

Best hot dog you ever had?

For me it was in the clubhouse of some golf club I played at in North Carolina back in 2013.

I generally pan fry but if I had a foreman's grill I'd probably use that

My favorite hot dogs were the ones from when I was a kid at our concession stand. After games or just hanging out at the complex while my dad was doing stuff. When closing up the concession stand for the night, there would always be a few dogs left sitting in that large pot, boiled in that dirty dog water.

mustard and relish and good to go.

God I loved them.

I know they were just a Dietz and Watson dog but the memories ... I probably ate hot dogs 4 nights a week as a kid during baseball season.

Is my microwave also broken?

Always ketchup and mustard then it depends on what else I have. Chili (no beans), onion.

I also eat them with jalapenos. That's probably my favorite...with an ice cold beer.

Not a big fan of kraut, relish or slaw though.

I begin by tossing out the hot dog and replacing it with a brat, polish sausage, Italian sausage, or sometimes Andouille. From there I have options, but in no instance do those options include ketchup or avocado, not ever.

Even with a grill. I'll grill some dogs but I also take an aluminum pan fill it with a little bit of water and have it on the side with little heat and close the lid.

If I can't do the fully loaded Colombian style dog, I will go with some combination of:

Spicy Brown Mustard

Sarrayo (kind of like Sriracha mayo)

Dill relish

Diced onions, either raw or sauteed

Lok Rostad (fried onions)

Jalapeno Ketchup

I've started going with ketchup and mustard recently and i really like it

Why is there a requirement that hot dogs must be a delivery service for your fluid and altered seeds, fruits, and vegetables? Why not just eat a salad if you like those things so much?

Big fan of the Detroit Coney Island (with mustard and onion, of course).
Interesting Wiki note:

In 1913 the Coney Island Chamber of Commerce in New York banned the use of the term "hot dog" on restaurant signs on Coney Island. This action was caused by visitors taking the term too literally, assuming there was dog meat in the sausage itself.

I had a boiled dog the other week. I couldn't believe how good and simple it was. Need to do it again this week.

Ketchup, mustard, sometimes relish, and melted cheese on occasion.

I've recently started putting milk on my cereal. It really makes it better.
Terrible analogy. Who doesn't put milk on their cereal? A lot of people don't go both ketchup and mustard. You're so much better than this.

Love a good polish sausage...

Deli mustard

Diced onion

Relish maybe...

Cereal purists disagree.

If you are going to have scrambled eggs, I also advise adding salt and pepper. I know, sounds crazy, but trust me.

Those are ground seeds and found deposits. Unfair analogy to the fluids on the dog. :P

I still believe in your potential.

To...?

made myself hot dogs just last night.

grilled all beef dog

ketchup

Jalapeno mustard

caramelized onions

jalapenos

toasted whole wheat bun

Home-made dogs:

Yellow mustard (dijon sometimes)

Chili (usually Hormel - no beans)

Dill relish (absolutely NO sweet relish)

Shredded cheddar on occasion

Chopped Onion if handy

...

Relish must always be this color -- none of that abominable Day-Glo stuff. :X
