Where in the world are the middle-aged dummies? Worldwide top 31 song countdown. (4 Viewers)

OH GOOD GOD.

Well, this would have been an embarrassing mistake to post in this thread, as vetter of picks.

Please insert some song from Rufus Wainwright - probably "Barcelona" or "Foolish Love" - into the top 15 of my US songs. Because, you see, he was born in the US, despite my believing for, say, 25 years that he was Canadian. Turns out only his mom was Canuckian, while the rest of the fam is NYers. FFS. He seems so decent and nice. How could he not be Canadian?

I had him in my US countdown but he was nixed. I planned to have him in this one. I'm not much of a vetter.

With lists and breakdowns rolling in, I feel like a slacker. I've got my artists/bands mostly set - now to sort 31. I'll be on vacation for a week starting Friday so no way this gets in by then. I will make our deadline though.

Please don't rush! Plenty of time.

Oh, I wanted to pick Martha so bad, but alas...

Martha was born in Canada! Those tricky Wainwrights!?!!

I'm sorta worried about falguy. He hasn't been on the site since February 16. I don't have any way to contact him outside of here to see if he's OK...I only know his first name. Anyone have any better connection?

If nothing else, maybe the Sysop?

Wikipedia says that she was born in New York City.

Ah, I saw “origin,” which says Montreal, and didn’t realize they were distinguishing that from “birth.”

She lived in Montreal beginning when she was 1, and Rufus beginning at age 3, but due to our stupid rules, they’re US countdown dummies.

Hmmm. Tag didn't work for some reason and I've been away from the board a bit so took me a while to even notice there was a new thread. Was hesitant to say yes at first b/c I wasn't sure I could make the deadline, but after revisiting some old favorite playlists, I felt young, angry, and fully committed. I may have even broken out some dance moves. In other words, everyone should prepare for a deep-dive into European industrial/EBM artists that packed the goth/darkwave clubs between 1987-1997. And maybe some Rush too.

I know 5 ways you can get Rufus onto your list. He is on mine.....maybe.... Im deciding between two

I could get him on there, but not with the songs I wanted.

I am quite partial to his Casanova in Hell with the Pet Shop Boys....much better than their original. Totally eligible, but thats not the one im thinking of listing

Hey @Hawks64, you doing ok? I saw Kaner got traded yesterday.
Totally expected and it's a good fit for him with Panarin being over there, think he lights it up and has a legit chance at a Cup :)

Traitor.
 It's just a rental deal, I'd rather see him go somewhere he wants to go vs withering on the vine here, it's highly likely he would play elsewhere next year. But.....maybe he comes back next year after the Hawks draft Bedard! :excited:

You didn't ask me, but I AM NOT OK.
A few of us are good. #LGR
I do feel for you Hawks fans - Kane basically took away all the team’s leverage by wanting to go only to the Rangers. Hey, you guys had 3 Cups though in the last 10-15 years - very jealous.
And the Rangers have had three very high picks that all suck.

Sad but true although the Kid Line (LaFreniere/Chytil/Kakko) are making a big impact. Kravstov was a major bust.

I came very close to going with Rufus. I had “Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk” and “California” all lined up.

Maybe I'll do Rufus in our one-artist top 31 thingie, since he inadvertently got shut out in these countdowns.
I had the same thought!

I’ll defer to you and pick another.

I'd just be happy for either of us to do it. We can figure it out when we get there. It seems that I must have ****ed up your pick in the US countdown, so I'd defer to you to do it!

Nah. I could’ve just taken the 10 seconds to check where he was born 😂.

I’m having trouble getting to a list of 31 of songs that are my favorites. I could easily fill 31 but feel like there is stuff I’m missing.

Also I have a number of American/English mashups so not sure how interesting it will be.
