If it's Turkey it isn't a Reuben though...1000 Island for corned beef, mustard for turkey.
You should have stopped after your first sentence.Russian is the only answer here. Thousand Island is acceptable. Dijon = ?
If it's not corned beef, it's not a reuben ... at least not a traditional one1000 Island for corned beef, mustard for turkey.
which other 4 islands do you include?A standard 1,000 Island dressing is weak. I personally make a better 1,004 Island dressing.
Atlantis, Monster Island, Lesbos, and Meepos.which other 4 islands do you include?
Dang, I figured Alcatraz could give it some much needed flair.Atlantis, Monster Island, Lesbos, and Meepos.
this guy not a fan of krauts, russians or swiss. take it to the PSFI've become a fan of sauerkraut recently, but up until not long ago, I didn't like kraut, Russian dressing, or Swiss cheese in any other context on their own...but love them all together on a Reuben.
Save the dijon for a Cuban.
Never tried it on a Reuben, but remoulade rocks on a wide variety of other sandwiches (fried oyster poboy with remouladeI'll take remoulade over Russian dressing every single time on any food at all.
Between that monstrosity and what they're trying to pawn off as a gyros, the place should be carpet bombed.I decided to try an Arby's Reuben because of this thread. I will not make that mistake again.
Hm to echo Henry remoulade always and every way above Russian in every instance and on everything.Hmmm ... Googling around at homebrew Russian dressing recipes, it looks like Russian dressing is really close to Lousiana's remoulade sauce. And neither are all that far from what's often called "come-back dressing" in parts of the rural South (esp. Mississippi).
@tipsy mcstagger
I feel like I'm about to ask a stupid question but isn't Russian Salad Dressing and Russian Dressing on a Reuben two different things?Hate the 1,000 Island dressing. All the recipes I see for Russian dressing look like 1,000 Island (or close).
What the hell? I grew with the reddish-purple stuff as Russian dressing.
I like that stuff.
You'll have, THE RUNS!Between that monstrosity and what they're trying to pawn off as a gyros, the place should be carpet bombed.
I thought a Rachel is with coleslaw and a Reuben is with sauerkraut, meat is interchangeableA Rachel (pastrami reuben) is a far superior sandwich to a Reuben
No. Thousand island on mine or GTFO@tipsy mcstagger @Henry Ford @SaintsInDome2006 ... what say you guys? Russian dressing and remoulade sauce close enough for substitution?
