Who is the best of the "experts" here at FBG'S? (1 Viewer)

Allow me to share my H2H experiences to show how they do in the real world.First off, you'll find staffers are usually very competitive in the survivor leagues. Solid drafting technigues with an emphasis on finding value and sleepers that others may not develop on their own.I have played against the following current staffers (hope I didn't leave anyone out):YudkinPasquinoLammeyShickffweaselTwilightjeter23radballs
Wait, radballs is staff? Is this a new development, or have I just never noticed before? I always thought staff was all listed in that little animated .gif on the homepage, and I thought staff was all supposed to go by their actual names on the boards (I'm assuming to build credibility and establish accountability by voluntarily sacrificing their anonymity).
There should be some clarification here. I believe that ffweasel and radballs are bloggers. Twilight hosts the Survivor leagues on his site and jeter23 is not directly affiliated with FBG (although he's written stuff for Draftguys). All 4 are solid guys and good posters, but it would be incorrect to label any of them "staff".
Sorry for the confusion. If you look at their names you see they are listed as "blogger" members so I thought that meant they worked for FBG's and therefore were "staff". Sorry for the confusion. My observations still stand however.

what I would like to see on this sight is a season ending VBD app that allows us to plug in our scoring systems and print out a cheat sheet showing where all the players actually ended up....then we could COMPARE it to the one we do before our drafts in the preseason and see how good the APP here really is....this would also help us as players see where we made mistakes inour draft....not just a tool to grade FBG's...
Interesting idea.Any concern, though, for accounting for injuries?I think it might be more useful on a Points Per Game (PPG) basis.
injuries are not a a concern as you would know that a player was injured and you would obviously factor that in......but a post season VBD app would not only allow us to see how good FBG's are but it would also allow us to see where we did really good in our drafts and we we made mistakes.......in addition, a post season VBD app would be great for people who are entering new leagues or starting up new ones....you would be able to put in your scoring system and see where guys ended up last year under that type of scoring format.......I think there are som many positives for something like this.....for instance Frank Gore was ranked 23rd at his position and 35th overall in my scoring system before the draft .......but where did he really end up under my scoring system......?

You could download the Draft Dominator and plug in the 2006 stats. There's a link and a process outlined to do this over in the Apps area.VBD does come out of that.

not to sound lazy....but plugging in 2006 stats for every player is a little time consuming....thats why I was suggesting it as something this site could put together since they already have the apps and this is what they spend their time doing in this business......plus if you are in several leagues it would be nice just to be able to plug in different scoring systems....for instance, I will be taking over a team in another league this year.....I would love to be able to plug in the scoring system from that league into the VBD app and see where guys ended up in that league last year.........

It would be nice to customize the scoring system/starting reqs. :)

I agree so that's why I asked Bruce to do it for us...2006 Stats Ready 4 U

Did anyone try this? I'm amazed at how many QB's are ranked high for my league. 6 in the first two rounds. Of course we only require two starting recievers.

Jeter is now a member of the Blogger staff I think

Thanks for the kudos FM but you're being quite modest yourself. I'm a retired Blogger guy after two years to clarify. It's good fun and keeps you up on the football news, but I just don't have time anymore. I looked at it as a way to give back to the best football site around.

That's a shame. I am new here, but when I read your opinions I really like them. I don't always agree but they are always well thought out. I wish I could get YOUR rankings instead of some others'.Also - since I'm new here I don't really know who is who.... and although it's a pretty cool name I don't think Memphis Foundry is an actual name. :headbang: I guess he isn't technically staff either?

Steelers homer and resident computer guy, iirc.

Keith Overton is the man we affectionately call "Superman" for he gets some IT / behind the scenes stuff done in record time. It's amazing that he can manage this big of an effort. This board, for example, is one of the biggest message boards around, and I think it is the largest football msg board and also the largest for Invision.Just one example of the work he does to keep this (virtual) place up and running.

You'll not find a lack of self proclaimed Alpha males around these parts. Everyone may think they are the best but I know I am the best.

Your gonna have to wade though a heaping pile of steaming bovine excriment to get to any useful info in this thread.
This is great! You should add this as your sig.

All of them do an excellent job and contribute something very essential to the site. My favorites tend to be Magaw, Wood, Bloom, Pasquino, and Lammey. I really enjoy the dynasty information that Bloom provides. Most importantly, I don't think this site is stagnant at all, and every year there is new information and tools that are innovative and helpful. By far the best site on the web, and it is due to all of the staff...

Staff have their own leagues (FESL) where they compete against each other. I wonder who has the best combined record over the past four years in the FESL? Hmmmmm.I've done well in the regular seasons, but haven't closed the deal on a title....yet.

But back to the Iron Chef's point. The staff here is excellent, both current and former. You're getting the best info there is from this site. I think it's worth mentioning that another very important part and value fround here is the board. When the "staff" and FBG's come together and share their view and opinions, that's when this site totally rocks. I don't always agree with everyone but I always pay attention and ask myself if someone knows a better way than I do.Then, if you want to really test yourself, play these guys in H2H leagues and find out if you have what it takes. It's a great way to put your skill to the test when you get bored of stealing form the "locals". :towelwave:

Yes :lmao: I'm betting those leagues are hard to find though.
If you come around enough during the season but stay pretty active between January-May while having good things to say, you'll get an invite sooner than later.

Good point. These guys get invited to a lot of leagues but they can't play in all of them. They have to "know" who they're getting involved with. Getting to know them is worthwhile from my experience.Aside from "staffers" there are a lot FBG's here that are just as good. Check out the "Dating Game Forum" for some possibilities.

Good call. I just started a free keep 14 league last year that seems to be comprised of quite a few fellow FBGs. Not staff, but I've I.D.'d a few from the boards. It's a damn good league for being free.

They're all good. I've drafted against some of them in various leagues, and they're always solid.

IMO the place where FBG stands out the most is in IDP. It might not be fair, though - there are just fewer options out there for IDP info and opinions. Still, those guys are head and shoulders above anything else out there. From what I've seen, they back it up in leagues as well.
