Wildcard Game Thread - Atlanta Falcons at Arizona Cardinals (1 Viewer)

Nice drive by the Falcons. White's drop did not hurt them.

I have a question. What were the big acquisitions for the Falcons for this past offseason? HC Smith, RB Turner, & QB Ryan I am aware. Are there any other changes that have made a big difference?

Their GM and Baker, the tackle from USC.

Thanks Raider Nation. Just goes to show what a few tweaks can do, especially with good coaching.

Wide open WR running through middle. Ryan looks like deer in headlights.
Ryan's been playing like this for the last three weeks now... well not quite this bad, but not with the feel and calmness he displayed for the first three months of the season. Turner really put the team on his back down the stretch, and it looks like there's no way that can happen today. What's funny is that lots of people are probably seeing Ryan for the first time today and will wonder why he got any praise at all. Now, Ryan did pull the "lay an egg for most of the game and make the plays in the end" during his senior season, but for that to happen, the Atlanta D will have to keep it close. I don't see that happening with Edge running well...
I've watched 2/3 Falcons games last couple weeks and I agree. He's showed poise but in my opinion the hype is outweighing production. Turner has been big and the defense has done decent. In my mind Flacco has been just as good but I can understand how people viewed the pieces the Ravens had in place before the year compared to the Falcons. Plus all the turmoil with Atlanta people view it as a big thing from a year ago.Side note : Im surprised Arizona only has 14 points.

Clock management could be interesting here. ATL no timeouts.
AZ should have known that running wasn't the only option. Time was a factor. Bad defensive call.
Tough situation with a runner like Turner though. He has to be respected. There was enough time for a running play and then a quick spike to stop the clock. Then, depending on how much time is left, one more shot in the end zone or a FG attempt.

Really an excellent football game so far.

Arizona comes out looking like a pro bowl defense; Warner, Fitz and Q looking like the same old dominant passing attack.

Atlanta counter-punches with Ryan looking like the offensive ROY. Good job adjusting on the fly by the offense (Smith must be telling Mularky what to do).

I agree - but you have to respect both rather than only play the run. Hood or Rolle should have been looking for that.

:goodposting: Great half. Hopefully they all are this good.

Nice half for the Falcons; took the Cards best shot, gave Ryan a chance to clear the butterflies and came out with a lead.

Any mention of Boldin since the apparent injury?

take out the two big plays and AZ hasnt done much on offense.

hopefully my falcons can eliminate that and dominate the second half!

Not saying they will win this game, but Arizona is a team dangerous enough to beat ANY team in the playoffs. Simply not consistent enough, but that defense can actually be very opportunistic at times and we know how dangerous/potent/quick-striking that offense can be against anyone.

I agree. :drive:

Hate being stuck without cable in Europe during playoffs...

I'm gonna have to borrowh someone's slingbox next week!

Defense is unheralded, but run game is not playoff caliber (looked like it was to start, but then...)

Dahl showed Dockett far too much space. It almost looked like there should have been another lineman between the right guard and the right tackle.
