Wildcard Game Thread - Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins (1 Viewer)

Joe's numbers today look like crap and indeed it was a win for the defense. But much was made this week of a rookie QB going on the road in a playoff game and screwing up under the pressure.

He didn't screw up.

Congrats Ravens fans. You outplayed the Phins today - especially on defense.

Cant be too disappointed as a Dolphins fan after a wonderful turrnaround season. As a Phin fan this season far exceeded my expectations and for that Im happy.

Yes, I'm whacko for Flacco.
:goodposting: At least one rookie QB won this weekend. ;)Take that, "Matty Ice". :lmao:
Indeed, that game was all Flacco, not the Baltimore defense only giving up 9 points and letting the Ravens offense start inside the Miami 40 like 4 different times...And if Matt Ryan hadn't kept getting burned by Fitzgerald and Boldin in pass coverage he would've won it. ;)
Be fair, he was outright dominant on those nine completions.

While their offense didn't really generate much, take note that Joey Porter was a factor of zero today, just like he was in the regular season game. And, yes, I'm not forgetting the fumble recovery.

The Dolphins are a good team, easy to root (sp?) for. They play good sound football, don't make mistakes and don't have a bunch of attention whores/look at me type players. From 1-15 to the playoffs is quite an accomplishment. They fought hard against one of the, if not the, toughest D's in the league. In the early fourth, they had that D on their heels and gasping for air. They need to identify the talent that they have at the rec pos, the rookie looked awesome, and add a little more to the Oline before they become elite. The loss of Camirillo (that spelling doesn't look right) hurt the Phins in this game. Congrats on a good season, I hope both these teams are back in the hunt next year.

I hope the Dolphins come back even stronger next year and keep the Pats out of the playoffs again. What they did this year was a great story.

Now let's see if the Ratbirds can ramp up the offense a little next week in Nashville - not entirely unforeseeable - and shut down Johnson and LenDale. They've got a chance in that one if they can get a little heat on Collins and force a couple of short fields.

I'm imp[ressed by Flacco. Great arm, nice ball, cautious in decision making.

I now think Suggs is a punk, effective, but a punk.

Can't say enough about Reed.

Mason has put together a vary impressive career. His numbers are outstanding given his offenses and Q.B.'s.

Miami has nothing to hang their heads about. Their year will not be defined by this game.

Clayton continues to confuse me.

I didn't think Flacco was that good in this one. What were his final stats? was he even 50%?

McClain reminded me of Jacobs at times and the D was excellent. I like how Pennington has confidence in the WRs to throw some passes but I thought he sure pushed the envelope today. That play to ronnie brown for a TD was sweet.

Ernest Wilford can't even get active when they have no other choices. Geesh was I wrong about him in preseason.

Sorry if a Honda, as I only read the last page of this thread, but was the Dolphins stadium about half full? I didn't get to see the game till just after the half and it looked like the upper bowl was empty.

Parmele inactive means Ray Rice is not an injury concern and will be back for the first time in 3 games. That is good news for the Ravens.

According to Football Outsiders, the Ravens have the #1 pass defense vs. opposing tight ends. With Washington and Rolle seemingly healthy enough to play, I'm not too worried about Ginn -- Camarillo would have been a problem. Biggest offensive concern is Cobbs/Brown catching the ball out of the backfield. If the Fins try to throw out of the Wildcat, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an Ed Reed INT.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Flacco come out throwing, kind of like last week vs. Jax, especially if the Dolphins put 8 in the box.

I'm thinking Baltimore, 30-13.
This game went pretty much like I thought it would, except Cam had maybe his worst game of the year. Where was Ray Rice? And the Ravens were killing with their run game, but they got spooked after the early McClain fumble and got away from the run. They definitely got a little crazy with the deep balls.Their first red zone possession was the most Billick-eque I've seen this team all year. And they also mostly abandoned the three tackles and the unbalanced line.

Congrats to Joe Cool for becoming the first rookie QB to ever win a road playoff game. But there's a lot of work to be done. The D carried the day much more than they've had to in the past this season. I'm hoping for the O to bounce back.

Also, congrats to Willis. He continues to look better and better since the Redskins debacle and might just be the starting RB again before too long.

Oof. Tough one to watch. Down 13-3 at the half, felt like 30-3. Kudos to the Ravens and their fans. The D was on a mission today. I usually really enjoy watching Ed Reed play. Today, not so much.

When the smoke clears, I'll look back on 2008 as a great, fun season. It just sucks to have it end with such a thud.
