David Lee, Miami's QB coach, was Arkansas OC last year. They used it with McFadden and Felix Jones. It worked real well on the Patriots because the Pats LBs are slow. They are experienced, but that experience was rendered useless since they've never faced such a scheme before. Factor in that Miami has two great RBs, and you have domination. I'm guessing a lot of it came from the NE-CLE game from last year. If you notice, CLE used a lot of overload formations, where theyd would move Joe Thomas to the right side as a TE. Now when faced with this formation, the D can either shift or not shift. Judging from how NE reacted against it last year, Miami saw something they could take advantage of. They did put Jake Long as TE on the right side on those plays.
