Phillips looks like a doofus. If you saw him on the street and talked to him you'd think he was in the janitorial service.

Will Jerry let him tank the team for the rest of the year or is he gone tomorrow?

Let the man finish the game 1st. He might have some surprises he's been saving. Dallas showed some real initiative on their last drive.

Cowboys are the worst team in the NFL. The inability to challenge that kickoff TD because of using up all their TO's was the kick in the nuts needed for Jerry to take over and start calling plays himself.

This team is playing so badly he needs to be punished first.

And I can't think of a worse punishement then having to stay on with this team through the end of the year.

This team has no heart and that falls directly on the head coach. For being such a defensive genius, his defense sucks. Why keep him around?

He should be, but I can't see Jerry making the Cowboys an even bigger joke since he came out and said he wouldn't fire him.

Nothing to be gained by firing Phillips at this point... season is lost. An interim head coach heading into an off-season with lockouts looming doesn't seem like a smart option.

My feeling is that Jones will allow Phillips to retire at season's end.

Unless Wade Phillips is back there in that secondary... then YES he should be fired now! :-D

He has lost this team - totally.

If he stays - it will be more harmful than him staying.

But they need to do whatever they need to do to get Cowher - not Gruden ...Cowher.

True enough, but what a sad sack replay system that an obviously blown call is allowed to stand simply because one team is out of timeouts.

No, no, no he better not get fired. It's free money!! I just make a call and mention the team that's playing the Cowgirls, and at the end of the week someone hands me money! I love this country, and Wade Phillips!

HOOWWWWWWWW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!!

:goodposting: The replay system is a joke. Theoretically a team could get 3 lousy calls by the refs overturned, then be unable to challenge even if there is a horrendous call after the fact.

This is like Hitler talking about wonder weapons in the bunker in April 1945. Speaking of which, has anyone done a Hitler video on the Cowboys being 1-7 yet?

I've decided what would be totally awesome: Jerry Jones taking over as HC in time for the thanksgiving game!

Get rid of Wade, promote Garret to HC. Lets see what he can do over the next 7 games since he's the "air apperant"

If he shows no promise, let him hang himself. Then bring in Cowher.

That's "heir apparent".
Maybe he was talking about Garrets playcalling - he's going to air it out, and it's apparentOk, maybe not, but it would have been a good pun if intended

The Chin is not going there...mark it down.

ff The league was much better without replay. The officals aren't calling the game anymore, they are letting the plays continue so the replay can get it right. I am for trashing replay because the review delays are soooooo painful.

Dallas blew it! How critical was that last TO they called 10 seconds before?

I put this all on JJ. It is his team, he picked the coaching staff not Wade.

Actually, Wade stepping down, as one poster suggested, is the best option. Allows him to admit he's not making the difference he needs to, and gives JJ his out. I think this may be likely.

To be fair, Wade did look like potentially a good coach. He had some HC experience, he was a great DC. If you thought he was a man who learned form his mistakes (which he obviously is NOT) then he could have appeared to be a solid option. However, I think the Cowboys need a disciplinarian, and Wade is not that. Neither is Garrett though.

Why? It has all the makings of a team he'd like to coach.
1. Not his part of the country - family's in NC & nothing I've seen indicates he wants to move;2. Not his type of owner - the Rooneys are hands-off owners & BC will want authority JJ can't/won't give him.

I don't think he's going there either, The Panthers seem like a much better fit, but the bolded could have been said of Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells as well.

I don't see why Wade would resign, since this is pretty much certain to be his last head-coaching gig ya gotta think. Why leave those $ on the table?

Agree; at the time Wade was hired, he wasn't seen as a bad hire, just kinda uninspirational. After Parcells though, the team was looking for a laid back, players-type coach, which is what Wade is. However, when things go bad, that style is going to get criticized. He's definitely lost the team and needs to go. I don't know if a complete 180 is necessary as in bringing in the chin or someone like that. What the team really needs is better personnel people who emphasise winning and football-IQ, not what the players look like in shorts and shoulder pads. I would love a Mike Smith/Steve Spagnuolo type hire.
