I guess I can kind of understand using Davenpoop, because FWP isn't a bruising runner, but Jacobs IS a goal-line back. He excelled at that the past two years, so why not use him that way still?Jacobs scored today but it was brought back because of holding. The whole Droughens stuff at the one is frustrating though.
With his size I really don't know. I have him in both my dynasty leagues and it does frustrate me. At first as a Parker owner I was kind of worried about the goal line touches by Davenport, but I think that it is mainly the opportunities. I think Parker is getting unlucky. Roethlisberger has 22 TDs and most seem to be 15-50 yarders and even today he had a 39 yard TD scramble. Sure he is pretty mobile, but a 39 yard TD scramble where he gets tackled right at the goal line? He had a ton of opportunities last year and this year he is getting his yardage, but the WRs don't seem to be falling down at the 1 yard line, they are scoring every time from outside the red zone.Anyone else wondering why these guys can't seem to find paydirt? Yardage is nice, but I'd really like to see them find the endzone more than once every five games or so.
As far as Jacobs, things just don't seem to be breaking his way as far as TDs. He's had 2 TDs called back this year due to penalties, and Droughns has come in and vultured TDs after Jacobs was instrumental in getting the Giants close to the goal line. Also, the Giants had an 80 plus kickoff return to the 1-2 yard line called back due to a questionable holding call--if not for that call, I'd think Jacobs would've been given a goal-line carry or two. Given that event and the Jacobs TD negated by another questionable call on Snee, Jacobs could've had a monster game today.Anyone else wondering why these guys can't seem to find paydirt? I know the feeling. When I saw him move toward the sideline just before Droughns came in to get the TD, I wanted to bash yet another dent in the wall with my forehead. I still think, though, that he's a good #2RB. He recently was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for his efforts after coming back from his injury, and hopefully he'll start getting more goal-line carries (and TDs not called back by flags).Jacobs pulled HIMSELF out of the game on 2 plays before the Droughns TD. He was winded after a few carries in a row I think. I don't know why he'd stay out for 2 plays though. He has to know that the TD's he's missing will matter when he's looking for a new contract. Also, that Jacobs owners are getting PO'd.![]()
Davenport runs like a train when he has 8 or 10 steps to get his momentum going (that's not really a compliment, as a guy with his size and power should run like that all the time). As far as taking the ball and plowing into the LOS, he's usually pretty bad.I personally have never understood why Tomlin/Arians haave elected to give Davenport the carries in short yardage because, quite frankly, over his career he's been pretty lousy in those situations. He's a big dude, but he doesn't run like one.
In the couple of games I have seen, this has been the trend. In the past, I thought FWP was a dual threat. Any insight as to whether they perceive Poop as a better receiver or if this, as mentioned earlier, is a way of saving wear and tear on FWP?Davenport did absolutely nothing today. Stuffed on short yardage. Hoping that FWP gets more goal line love going forward. It is a concern though, as Davenport is in there on every passing down in the red zone.
I'd like see FWP on a fast surface. I mean, how many times did his feet go out from under him when trying to make a cut today? Chunks of turf were flying..
Why is the pooper in there on third down obvious passing situations? I also don't think he has been any better than FWP at short yardage this year. Willie had another last defender push him out of bounds saving a long TD run, again. Happens nearly every week now, one man to beat and gets pushed out of bounds...and why is this guy sucking wind so often? Reggie Wayne ran his butt off last night and never came off the field. They were talking about it and showed him right after he had sprinted downfield and he wasn't even breathing hard.In the couple of games I have seen, this has been the trend.
