15mph? 20mph? 25mph?

My guys looks like he'll be playing in 26mph winds tomorrow. Just wondering what the normal line of thinking is regarding at what rate do winds make a huge impact?

Damn good question...I'm going to say that 20 is too much - assuming there are gusts.15 is borderline.10 is no problem.

Also matters as for gusts vs. sustained.

20mph sustained winds with gusts on top - bad, very bad.

WCO QBs are usually fine, but deep balls are a mess (as are kicks).

That's kind of how I see it. Would like to see what other folks think. Thanks.

Jeff, so you think dink & dunk is ok? I'm scared about Housh tomorrow geting balls thrown to him by noodle armed Fitzpatrick. I have 20 minutes to insert Mason instead. I think I will based on this:High Wind Watch for Cuyahoga County, OHfrom 10 am EST, Sun., Dec. 21, 2008 until 10 am EST, Mon., Dec. 22, 2008... HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CLEVELAND HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE EAST AND THEN NORTHEAST ACROSS THE REGION SUNDAY MORNING. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE EAST WITH THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DURING THE MORNING HOURS. THE FRONT IS EXPECTED TO USHER IN STRONG GUSTY WINDS ALONG THE LAKE SHORE AND THE WIND COULD BE SUSTAINED AT 40 MPH OR GREATER SUNDAY INTO MONDAY MORNING. THE STRONG WINDS IN COMBINATION WITH COLD TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE WIND CHILLS TO DROP TO ABOUT 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO OR LOWER AT TIMES. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON BEING OUTDOORS TOMORROW INTO MONDAY MORNING... BE SURE TO COVER EXPOSED SKIN TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM FROST BITE. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS THAT THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR STRONG DAMAGING WINDS TO DEVELOP. THESE STRONG WINDS COULD BRING DOWN TREES AND POWER LINES AS WELL AS CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE. IF A HIGH WIND WARNING IS ISSUED... STAY INSIDE... AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS. BE PREPARED FOR TREES BLOCKING ROADWAYS AND POWER OUTAGES. STAY TUNED TO WEATHER RADIO OR THE OTHER RADIO AND TV STATIONS FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR UPDATES.

I'm not meteorologist, but yes, that's what I think.Good luck.

I am also curious as to what people think this does with defenses in general? There are a bunch of games this weekend where not so standard start defenses are probably available on the wire and may be worth a look based on this. Would someone consider starting a Cincy, Cleveland, Washington, Philly defense based on this bad weather? I realize the two latter ones mentioned are not bad options anyway but does this boost their potential or keep it even?

I am guessing you put Mason in and if so, nicely done. I would have to imagine that Housh will certainly not do significantly better than this and likely not better at all.

I did throw Mason in there. I feel pretty good about Housh not being able to match or significantly trump Mason's production. Now I'm considering taking this wind thing one step further and benching Houston D (@ Raiders) in favor of Cleveland (vs Cincy). I think the Browns have a good shot at shutting down Fitzpatrick, and I doubt Benson will lead the way. The only thing that scares me was the scroll note on NFL Network that said that Cleveland hasn't scored an offensive TD in 4 games. With that kind of offensive ineptitude, you have to be giving your opponent decent field position and numerous drives/scoring opportunities. However, if the weather report before kickoff is brutal, I may go for it.
