Gimme a minute. Just rolling in to work.

There's someone who I expected to have been picked in the first five or six picks who's fallen ... researching now to make sure I didn't miss some late scoop (no, not Concussion Guy).

Just PM me. I'll tell you if he's hurt.

This is hard to research using traditional FBB resources. Whatever 5x5 is (I don't remember that being around in the early 90s  ), some guys that are rated as "great 5x5 picks" have what would be terrible WIS lines.

5x5 is the industry standard now. (BA, HR, RBI, Runs, SB x Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP, Ks)

Same thing w/ pitchers. Three of the 5x5 categories don't translate to WIS. Well, maybe two and a half categories--strikeouts are still outs.

1 .15 ( 15 ) : C Mauer, Joe
There's no question Mauer is the No. 1 catcher, but he doesn't come completely worry-free. Cavernous Target Field allowed him to hit just one homer at home last year, negating any chance that he would come close to repeating his 2009 homer total.
This scared me away.

Trees are gone from the batters eye in CF...it's all good now.

Why'd they have a Christmas tree exhibit in center to begin with?

I'm OK with Mauer delivering 450 AB of 2-hole-style hitting as a catcher ... don't need him to be prime Mike Piazza.

That's the problem for me. Because he's a catcher, he'll get at least 20 games off. There's a reason why PA/162s figure so prominently in WIS salaries.

yeah, but terrible WIS lines will end up being decent in this SIM... I mean, essentially we're just re-juggling the league around, everyone should do pretty similar to how they do in real life (only on new teams)...

Now I feel like an idiot for snap picking ... coulda used some more time. Oh well.

I didn't mean that 2011 guys have terrible lines compared to all-time greats. I meant that there are 2011 guys who hit in the .240s last year, yet are considered 5x5 first-round studs.

You would think that...but it doesnt always work out that way.
