"Work" buzzwords I HATE (1 Viewer)

Signing off an email with "Best,"

Best what? I f'ing hate this for some reason.
Painful. Have a co-worker that uses this and I'm working up to a mini intervention to tell them to stop it.
Work with a guy who alternates between Best and All Best. I thought it was just me that wanted to snap. And he too does PR work.
It has a smarmy PR feel to it so no shock there.

I really struggle with signoffs sometimes. I spent 2+ years not really interacting directly with clients (after spending 10+ doing just that).

I try not to roll "Regards," out there.

"Best Regards?" I don't know.

I usually just use "Thank you," since my email typically includes some kind of request.

But if I ever feel the need to cut out with "Best," I will go play in traffic.
I use regards but mostly cause it's schticky

Also have my sig in Comic Sans

People who refer to powerpoint slides as a "deck". WTF? Are you going to play poker with it or something?
I challenged this once, and it's an old school term as it was explained to me. Before PowerPoint, it literally was a "deck" of papers or transparencies that you'd gather to do a presentation.

Still a work buzzword to hate, but at least it has some history behind it.
Yes, amazingly, there was business activity before Powerpoint was born:

USP

When used in ways it wasn't meant to be. HR doesn't have a unique selling proposition, sport. Just tell me my benefits and the company holidays.

SLA

When used internally. "What's the SLA on when you can get that back to me?" Usually from sales. You aren't getting a service level agreement from me, jagoff. I'll get that contract back to you when I'm good and ready. You don't give me an SLA for lack of selling.

Value Stream. I know it has legitimate usage in office vernacular, but it has become bastardized to the point of EVERYTHING is a value stream. How about just saying here is how I am trying to justify the existence of my middle management position - I am calling it a value stream.

I value my stream when it occasionally strong enough to still break up cigarette butts that used to be at the bottom of the urinal.
