Because a lot of us went into that movie with tremendous expectations - Directed by can't miss Stanley Kubrick, starring peak performers Cruise & Kidman where the uptight prude, red-hot Kidman gets naked in addition to so much sex and other nudity that it was considered a controversial film at the time. I couldn't wait to see this movie! I didn't even wait for the reviews.
What I got was a long, meandering, pointless, painful plot that was all predicated on Tom Cruise having a bad reaction to a dream Nicole Kidman had about sex with another man. What? And the genesis of this marital disclosure and Tom's reaction to it was a little marijuana smoking? Are you ####### kidding me? 99.9999999% of couples that smoke weed together just watch some TV, eat some junk food or engage in mediocre sex. They do not lose their inhibitions so badly that they either disclose a sex dream or react in such a way to an involuntary mental activity that they stay out all night looking for a weird sex orgy. The entire plot of utterly ridiculous and enduring it was not enjoyable at all. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to look at, but by this point in our evolution, porn was on the internet if you needed gratuitous nudity with a much shorter (and better) plot line.
