No to all.  We dont eat out much as it is, and i dislike eating outside, so....

Most we have done is order delivery 2x since this stuff started.
Not sure I have ever heard this before. What do you dislike about eating outside? Is this just a restauarant thing, or do you not eat outside at home? When the weather turns 60 degrees plus here I eat nearly every meal outside

The feels like the last week has been 110 around here in Palm Beach, you could fry an egg right now on the street. No rain either which is unusual.

I miss those 60-65 degree Santa Monica days in the middle of June and even July sometimes.

Both, but I get that I am odd.  Don't need to deal with the elements and bugs when I eat. ;)

Our back yard is basically ripped up from the dogs and there are a decent amount of bugs around here, so it's not really relaxing to be on the back deck for me.  Not something I actively seek out when going to a restaurant either.

It's not to the point where I wont eat at a ballgame, or will leave if thats all the tables they have at a restaurant, just not something I enjoy or seek out.

I live in Delaware.  we've been opened back up since the beginning of the month and the wife and I have been out three times. Once each week. I don't sweat it much honestly,  the restaurants have been dead. Only once have we had anyone within three tables of us.

No. (Kansas City area)

JPMorgan on Thursday: “Looking across categories of card spending, we find that the level of spending in restaurants three weeks ago was the strongest predictor of the rise in new virus cases over the subsequent three weeks.”
So if you dine out, get the cheapest thing on the menu and you should be okay.

Ate outside at a restaurant with my adult daughter for the first time last weekend. Won’t eat indoors even if it were open. Restaurant normally has around 20 tables indoors. They set up five outside spaced apart on the sidewalk. Felt safe. I don’t know how they’re making any money doing it. 3 of the 5 tables were occupied on a Sat evening. I saw three door dash pick ups in the two hours we were there. Menu was condensed and prices were about 50% higher than usual to try and make up for the lack of tables. I did feel like we were really appreciated for being there. Service was great and the chef came out at the end, thanked us for coming and gave us a free dessert.

In Florida?  Not a chance.  One of us continues to be the only person during the week that goes anywhere.  We alternate.  I do go pick up food at restaurants probably once a week, but we really like eating at home.  We never realized how much crap we eat while out, so that's been good.  With the ####show going on here, we may be cutting back on the eating out even more...maybe once every couple weeks.

No-- I haven't dined out and do not plan on it anytime soon. There have been several instances where there have been outbreaks of the virus among employees/managers of restaurants here in Southern Cali--and those restaurants did not notify the public or close down for sanitation protocols.  They literally sent those employees/managers home for a couple of weeks and conducted business as usual. FIrst of all--being in an enclosed environment where the removal of masks is going to be required at some point is just unsafe in areas where the virus has a moderate/major presense.  Secondly--the guidelines of how to handle covid are just that--guidelines. There are many businesses that are so desperate for survival that they would jeopardize the health of their patrons to avoid hurting their economics.  It's hard to trust the judgement of strangers when money is involved.  I'm more than happy to enjoy supporting my local establishments through door dash and enjoy eating in the safety and convenience of my home.  Even with door dash--anything I order gets put in my uv-c chamber before consumption.

I’m pretty much the same. It’s not a huge deal and I obviously eat outside at picnics, parties, etc.,  but I generally avoid eating outside otherwise. I’d rather enjoy a meal in comfort than deal with heat and bugs.

Live in Northern Virginia, just outside DC. I haven’t eaten inside or outside at a restaurant since before the times.  I’m not sure when we will go back to that.  Doing a decent amount of delivery and curbside — picked up some curbside last night.

Texas. 'Nuff said. It was already 80 and humid at 7 a.m. this morning. By dinner, it is likely pushing 100. Eating while sweat rolls down my face and back just isn't something I find enjoyable.

Said no to all.

I am in Az

When things first started lifting I went to my local place for the wing special and a couple of beers. I did that two weeks in a row on a Wednesday afternoon which meant there were very few of us there. Then covid started rolling again and I stopped doing that.

I’ll be honest and say I’m just not that into going out to eat in restaurants and this coronavirus thing is a pretty good excuse to avoid it.  Not planning to go any time soon.
That excuse has really come in handy when it comes to not having to socialize with other parents when picking up my daughters from hanging out at their friends' houses.

Dined out in Tampa twice in the last month...last time was 2 weeks ago, outside seating,  everyone was spaced apart but nobody was wearing masks (employees or customers)....2 days later the place said they had an employee that was working that weekend test positive for Covid...so we had to cancel a birthday party appearance last weekend just to be safe in case we were exposed.

Went to a local brewery yesterday to get some beer to-go, and they were pouring beer inside (against the new restriction that suspended on site consumption in all bars/breweries)...so I had a beer while waiting for my crowlers to be filled.

Had brunch inside a restaurant this morning. Tables were spaced 6 feet apart. Wore mask until I got to my table and put back on when I was getting up to leave.

So, March around here. I'll do that.

This. No need to sweat while eating unless it's the spices.

Yep

Alabama isn't quite Texas, but it was in the 80s and close to 90% humidity this morning.

I enjoy eating outside in decent weather, but now we'll probably wait until October.

We do takeout at least once a week. Usually eat it outside at the nearest park. We did Uber eats once or twice until I realized how much the restaurant loses on those deals.

Vancouver bc
i surprised myself on how i have reacted to different situations that i was in during the covid lockdown
Donated blood twice during this
Mar 12  this was my 1st time in close contact with anyone in 30/45 days and felt comfortable but uneasy . i wore mask and gloves but they didnt wear masks
June 7 2nd time the clinic had way more protections in place for nurses  and the donors . temp check at door , masks were mandatory for everyone
next appointment is in early aug

In june had to make a chiro appointment as my  neck was screwed up for 3 weeks and couldnt turn left or sleep properly  and couldnt take it anymore
Great chiro but he took very few precautions and i dont feel comfortable going back to him during this unless he changes the precautions in his office

had a follow up doctors appointment about my neck . the patients are limited and spread out appointments. the doctors doors were locked and had to call to be let in. masks were mandatory and soon as i left they have a cleaner scrub the room. felt really safe

In mid march meet 8 guys  from hockey at 1 of their shops and had beers with them in the alley . 3 of them were idiots and werent taking covid seriously and havent hung out with any group since. i would consider a smaller group to hang with in a backyard but i would have to know they taking precautions

Since the group get together i have met 2 friends separately in their backyards to have beers and felt comfortable . no sharing and lots of hand sanitizer but no masks

during all this i have been doing take out and going to beaches and parks to eat and get some fresh air
Restaurants just opened up  2 weeks ago
last week went downtown with 1 of the backyard friends
the was the 1st time eating in a restaurant , felt weird going back was ok with the experience . 1/3 of tables only could be used and waitress wore a mask. i may eat in again but in no rush to and that restaurant must have lots of open space or a patio for me to go in
After the restaurant we hit a pub and 3 local breweries
pub was ok as we sat on the patio by ourselves , staff werent wearing masks though
Craft beer market  . great - huge open bar , staff wore mask and lots of space between people
Main Street Brewery - ok - medium size bar , staff didnt wear a mask and some space between people
Brewhall - ok (would have been great but too busy) - huge open bar , all staff wore masks , plastic partitions separating seats
Again not sure if i would do breweries again but if i did it  would have to be a huge open bar or a patio

Did fathers day ay my brothers with his family and our parents , weirdly i never gave it a thought of not going
i know he takes it seriously but must assume because its family i didnt consider it a threat like i would if it would have been just a friends place

In the last month , have gone on 4 hikes with meetup groups and have had no problem with this . outside and lots of distance between hikers

the last 2 weeks , i have been invited to play ball hockey outside in a lacrosse box and dont feel comfortable to play
the 3 guys from the get together from the earlier story play so dont trust them and i know its been shown that being outside reduces the risks but i havent seen anything about contact sports being ok and i know it hasnt been approved by our provincial doctor so not sure when i will play

long winded anecdotal stories but op questions made me think on how i approached different situations and my comfort level

Pretty straight forward. If you would like to post the State or area you are located after you vote that would be great.

Obviously this is because of the current pandemic and the explosion of cases in places in like FL, TX, AZ right now. Do you feel comfortable eating out?
PA Philly suburbs.

We just went green right after my Birthday this past Friday. Parents took me out to a local place as my mom wanted to buy me new work shoes since mine are ruined and we have no shoe repair guy in the neighborhood anymore. We sat on the porch section of a local ale house that had screened windows that were open. Only part of the place that was open. Everything was nice and clean and well organized. Don't think I'll eat out often but take out sure still

Also My area is popular for going to the Jersey Shore for the summer. Covid Cases in Delaware Beaches and NJ have surged since opening. One customer of mine came back said they may not go down rest of the summer. No one wearing masks or social distancing or anything. people just acting like this thing never happened Said his wife and him are thinking about not going the rest of the summer now. Don't be surprised if Jersey is the next to go back to Yellow or red.

I've been traveling with my wife to Charleston SC about once or twice over the last 10 weeks or so delivering Covid 19 test swabs to MUSC. We've been ordering curbside at different restaurants in and around the Charleston area and have been eating in the truck. Well Father's day weekend we made three trips and on two of them we decided to go in the restaurant to eat. Saturday night we went to Sullivan's Island and ate at Poe's Tavern. The entire area was a madhouse. Probably less than 5% wearing mask except for employees and they were 100% wearing them. I was pretty uncomfortable. On Sunday we ate brunch at Page's Okra Grill in Mt Pleasant. We sat outside and it was a little better. Still not a lot of mask wearers around amongst the customers and probably 90% of the restaurant employees had on mask. Our waitress did but had her nose exposed. Still sketched out a little bit. Found out over this weekend that Page's Okra Grill is temporarily closed due to a positive test of one of it's employees.

I think my dining in days are over for a while.

Restaurants aren't allowed indoor seating here (western NY).  Outdoor has been open for about 2.5 - 3 weeks now.  I've gone out to eat once and gone out for drinks twice.  The places have been pretty crowded, but tables all socially distanced, and if you're not seated at your table, you're required to wear a mask.  I will likely continue to go out for food/drinks assuming the restaurants have these precautions in place.  If a place does not have these requirements (which I believe are law right now anyway), I wouldn't frequent them.  We've also been doing takeout pickup once a week.

Have been eating out for the last several weeks.... North County San Diego relatively low "cases" and hospitliizations.

Our numbers are increasing but still not alarming.

Also, I'm never around old people or at-risk people.

Said no but I have been out a couple times here in AZ to breweries. I went with places that have open air and unlikely to be busy. Last week I sat down and had a beer inside because it was just me and the owner and know he’s OCD about his precautions. Sticking to takeout At mainly locally owned places.

No. Absolutely not. And we eat out a lot. Just because they are re-opening things doesn't mean it makes sense to go.  Anyone with a brain can look at the numbers and see this, at least in my area.  Let the Darwin award nominees be the guinea pigs.

I imagine this is highly dependent on where people live though.

No.  We have gotten takeaway a few times but even that has been over a week ago now.  Only necessity trips to the stores as well.

In Oklahoma, I just appreciate that MOP didn't list us as an area that is exploding.  We seem to be just off the top lists for increasing cases.  Our increase in cases has set 7-day records for basically the entire month of June.

On a related note, when doing my shopping this weekend I was in the overwhelming majority of people wearing masks.  It's gone from 25% wearing masks in May to probably 75% wearing masks now.  (My estimates only.)

I have no issue going out to a restaurant.  I wear a mask until seated and wash hands regularly and don't touch my face if I can help it.  Also, we keep our distance from those in the restaurant as required.  I live on the central coast of California.

This has been the common practice in AZ the last month or so.

Same (Orange County), except for I do see my parents, who would be classified as old.  I'm trying to cut back on seeing them until things start evening out here.  :(

Why would you stay and eat there? I'm baffled.

From my observations over the weekend which I would like to share....most of the folks that would be uncomfortable at an inside-outdoor Bar/Tiki type place likely stayed home but of the people who were out after 8pm Saturday Night...1-No Social Distancing that I could really see although people over the age of 40 were a lot better at it and #2-Young people absolutely DO NOT follow any of the guidelines...we saw one place where there was a tent set up outside and it was packed with young people shoulder to shoulder...we didn't stop there and then one more place we took a peek and again just filled with the under 35 crowd and very little attention being paid to Social Distancing and I am in South Florida which right now is a hot spot I'm sad to post.

With what I saw this weekend, it would seem this thing will continue to spread. I will admit, sheer laziness from cooking rock solid the last couple months had weakened us to start venturing out but as I posted in the CV-19 thread, I operated better under lockdown mentality and may just switch back. I don't have to participate just because others are dining out.

I didn't realize how much I ate out until the pandemic started.

I'm surprised that the first question is only 45%.  I would have expected something higher for this demographic.

I probably shouldn't answer because we rarely eat out anyway, but I can't imagine we will again until at least 2021. Our take out usage has increased from sometimes weekly to at least weekly though.

Yeah, probably not my best decision. We wore our mask except at the table. When we got there the bar was shoulder toshoulder a;; the way across. I definitely learned my lesson and won't be dining in anywhere else for awhile. Only takeout, curbside, and drive-thru and those will only be once or so a week.

Seriously, glad you came away unscathed. 👍
