Isn't plantar fasciaitis commonly an overuse injury?this is more concerning for me from a standpoint of conditioning. What was he doing all offseason?

Yes. So if he was in shape prior to camp he wouldnt be over using.Isn't plantar fasciaitis commonly an overuse injury?
Cooper has always been a hard worker even when he was unhappy in Oakland. I doubt he showed up to camp out of shape.Yes. So if he was in shape prior to camp he wouldnt be over using.
Chances for these kinds of injuries peek after about 2 weeks of starting new activities. The fact that he got it to begin with makes me question what kind of shape he was prior to camp; if hes in shape his body is used to the activity already and the chance of an overuse injury is very small

I don't know the reason either. And, I guess it doesn't matter. What matters is the actual injury and recovery time.
you're probably right. however guys used to heavy work dont get plantar fasciitis a few weeks into camp. Maybe something happened
It is not easily treatable if you have a bad case of it. Terrible freaking injury man.Plantar fasciitis sucks, but I had it years ago and went away almost immediately after I got some good inserts. Of course, I was not an athlete who needed my feet in good condition to play sports, so not quite the same thing, but it is easily treatable, depending on how bad it is.
I agree with this. I had this "disease" and it cut 6 months out of my life pursuing a sport I wanted to learn. It is totally and overuse injury, and high arches are prone, like mine. Causes the plantar fascia to stretch and fray with movement. Anyhow NOT being lazy is how I got it - practicing way too much, but I will concede I was just clear of my twneties and not stretching/rolling it out enough on my calves and hammies. Wound up with tendonitis all over my feet from compensating movements, and ultimately in a walking boot for a couple months. There is a large spectrum of how bad it can be... but if it is bad, then all bets are off.I think the idea that this came from him being lazy is the opposite of the truth here. It is most likely he overworked it or perhaps has a foot shape makes him more at-risk for this issue.
You’re right, 3 days ago BR was saying pf. NFL.com and a few others now reporting it as heel strain. Regardless, this first surfaced two weeks ago & it’s def a concern.Last I read he doesn’t have plantar fasciitis
2A. Including the postseason (11 total games), Cooper averaged 17.9 fantasy points per game with Dallas last season, which would have ranked 10th-best last year.
2B. Over the past two seasons, Cooper has as many games (seven) with 80-plus receiving yards as he does games of 10 or fewer receiving yards.
2C. In 2017, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most). In 2018, Cooper scored 52% of his fantasy points in just three games (most).
2D. This means that the other 79% of the time you were starting him he was averaging just 5.5 (2017) and 7.0 (2018) fantasy points per game. Those numbers would have ranked outside of the top-75 in both seasons.
2E. Of 72 qualifying receivers since 2015, Jason Witten ranks best in targets per dropped pass (54.4), while Cooper ranks worst (11.9).
I don't think anyone would be drafting him as a #1.tkrull said:I wouldn't want Cooper as my WR1, but IMO he makes a great WR2. His boom weeks can go a long way to winning your matchup.
Chad Johnson 2.0Even if he is a go, he’s just too damn streaky for me.
From PFF Scott Barrett’s awesome “96 stats” article:
He’s being drafted around wr 10 or 11 so unless you draft a wr in round 1 that’s exactly what he isI don't think anyone would be drafting him as a #1.
He is my WR1 and I am fine with that because I have 3 WR2s. And while I don't expect it, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he were the best WR in all of NFL next year. He is capable. He’s being drafted around wr 10 or 11 so unless you draft a wr in round 1 that’s exactly what he is
What's the question around K.Allen?I have a feeling I'll be staring right at him at the 2/3 turn in a 10 man after picking first. Especially with the questions around Allen, Brown, Hilton...pretty sure I'd pull the trigger there. I draft tomorrow night so don't expect any clarity with those other guys.
Always loved Johnson, people always let him fall too far, because of his streakiness. Cooper would be very fortunate to have a run like he did 03-07.Chad Johnson 2.0
"Keenan Allen suffered an ankle injury at practice and is expected to miss the remaining three preseason games, Adam Schefter reports."What's the question around K.Allen?
4 games as the wr1 for the week and 12 games as a wr5, if healthy... Hard passAlways loved Johnson, people always let him fall too far, because of his streakiness. Cooper would be very fortunate to have a run like he did 03-07.
Brutal.[Watkins] Amari Cooper said he's got plantar fasciitis in his left foot. It's something he's had before.

uh-oh, haven't been concerned but now think maybe it's time to be. How much to downgrade? that is the question[Watkins] Amari Cooper said he's got plantar fasciitis in his left foot. It's something he's had before.

Hilton > Allen > brown > cooperI have a feeling I'll be staring right at him at the 2/3 turn in a 10 man after picking first. Especially with the questions around Allen, Brown, Hilton...pretty sure I'd pull the trigger there. I draft tomorrow night so don't expect any clarity with those other guys.
He has elite quickness and route running.....Derek Carr, and the O line was the issue in Oakland.....if you watch the film, Carr is super squirrelly in the pocket most of the time. I think with Dallas' better line and better all around offensive weapons, he can be a top 10 WR for sure, but the foot......especially for a guy who relies heavily on quickness and precise routesCooper isn't going to be a WR1 this year, but I don't think he was prior to the injury. He has a lot of boom/bust games, but if you actually watch his games there are so many times that he's wide open and the ball doesn't come his way, especially when he was in Oakland. I think that Cooper could still be a top 10 WR in this league, but right now he's still too much of a boom/bust prospect to rely upon week to week. I don't think that having Dak as a QB will affect his game as much as having Kellen Moore at OC. I'm hopeful that he can even out his play and decrease the variability throughout the season.
I own Cooper in Dynasty, and his value could be at the best point to sell, but I'm going to hold and hope that his situation continues to improve. He's still a young WR and has lots of opportunity to grow and improve.
Right now I have Cooper around WR15. If we hear worse things about his foot I might move him down to 20 and have him around AJ Green.
Came here to essentially say the same. Mickey was clear that he doesn’t have plantar-fasciitis.
Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones characterized Amari Cooper's foot injury as "more of a muscle strain."
We've heard Cooper's injury described a number of different ways—at one time it was thought to be plantar fasciitis while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport referred to it as a "strained heel." Whatever it is, the injury is still bothering him, though Jones isn't ready to press the panic button yet. "I the preseason you’re being ultra, ultra conservative," said Jones, who confirmed Cooper won't participate in next week's preseason finale against Tampa Bay. If Cooper is absent or limited to start the year, it would open up targets for Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb, among others.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Amari Cooper (foot) is "on schedule" to play in Week 1.
Cooper has remained confident he'll play in Dallas' season opener. Despite being able to run at full speed, his ongoing muscle strain has reportedly impacted his ability to cut in and out of his routes. Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said the team would be "ultra conservative" in how Cooper's handled (which means missed practices and preseason games), but Dallas' stud wideout is fully expected to be on the field against the Giants in Week 1. He'll garner WR1 status to open the year.

I don't think I'll ever roster this guy. :shrugs:if he gets through the week ok he could be the steal of a lot of drafts.
To each their own. He played through this same “injury” in college. Sounds pretty minor.I don't think I'll ever roster this guy. :shrugs:
Same here, though I couldn't pass on Jacobs this year. And I try to avoid guys in Dallas, too, unless they've got definitively carved-out roles. I could see myself taking Cooper, but there's always somebody ahead of me who picks him or in he's a tier of guys where he's available along with somebody I like better. That's just how it's been since he came into the league. I have no animus against him or anything like that. Hey, maybe this will be our year.I avoided him in Oakland because I try to avoid Raiders in general.
Yeah, I was a little surprised he fell to 3.08Same here, though I couldn't pass on Jacobs this year. And I try to avoid guys in Dallas, too, unless they've got definitively carved-out roles. I've been fairly worried, because his value is directly tied to quickness and route running....a foot injury for a guy like him is no bueno.....I'm definitely going to scoop him up if hes there when it makes sense.....he is a new man in Dallas with a QB who understands how to get him the ball consistently.Garrett just confirmed Amari Cooper will practice today.
I feel like Cooper went a full round lower than he should have because of this foot scare.
The whole time AC said it wasn’t a big deal, that he could play through it but it was getting better & he expected to be 100% by the time the season started.
We’re still not even sure what it was, but latest reports were a “muscle strain” and not plantar fasciitis - and now here we are a week out & he's going to practice.
this all reeked of “top player being held out to preserve him” and not “omg the sky is falling”.
After get got to the cowboys last season, cooper’s production soared. His numbers scaled out to a full season are like 100/1400/14
not a bad 3rd round pick for those who were bold enough to take a chance.
Hopefully reports are positive after practice - if he gets through the week ok he could be the steal of a lot of drafts.
Reportedly had a similar strain in college. Played through it. AC’s value dropped a full round in ADP because of (erroneous) plantar fasciitis report.I've been fairly worried, because his value is directly tied to quickness and route running....a foot injury for a guy like him is no bueno.....I'm definitely going to scoop him up if hes there when it makes sense.....he is a new man in Dallas with a QB who understands how to get him the ball consistently.
Amari Cooper told reporters Monday that he believes he's good to play Sunday against the Giants.
