WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (2 Viewers)

but I'll take a source that points me in the right direction and let me forget out the rest vs just getting no info
I'll take no info over wrong info.

If he knew stuff, Aiyuk would be in a Steeler uniform.

He deleted hids account, it's over. If people want to cherry pick his correct guesses, hey that's why wwe have Twitter I guess

Don't think that's true and seems pretty obvious to me he has connections and knows stuff.

Like I said, sometimes he gives 80-90% of the truth. He said Aiyuk and the Steelers was a done deal. That's a perfect example. What he likely knew was that Aiyuk and the Steelers had agreed on a contract.Another example is a few weeks ago he almost to the dollar said what Lamb and Dallas had agreed on. Again, not a 100% truth because he said it was done but obviously took a few weeks to work out some details. Was talking about Ridley going to Titans about an hour before that hit. Like I said was throwing out hints about the Aiyuk saga coming to a close about half an hour before it hit, had me hitting refresh.

So again I think it's obvious he knows stuff, but he's not a reporter and has no ethical standards, no stuff like needing two confirmed sources kind of stuff.

Anyway, he'll be back, it's like the third time at least he's deleted his account, has returned the other two times I know about.

Those of us gambling on Pickens rejoice!
Honestly that was my first thought when I heard he signed and frankly why I was anxious for this deal to get done. I want to get back to drafting Pickens!
I thought it was obvious the 49ers wanted to keep Aiyuk or he would have already been traded, so made a calculated gamble on Pickens. Yesterday though, I wasn't like that calculation very much. Today, all good.

Soooooo.

In terms of drafting. I’m thinking he’s a late 3 early 4 guy.

Kupp Waddle Aiyuk Metcalf . I’m going to have to decide in my home league.

I think I’m going Waddle then hope Kupp or Aiyuk is there.
He went 3.08 in my last NFFC rotowire championship league last night. Sounds about right.

I think he could go earlier in my home league Saturday (several 49er fans + we just switched to 3RR)

So I'm not a salary cap expert, but abovethecap.com showed Niners as having $39.1MM in cap space before the signing with Aiyuk being at $14.1MM before the extension. So subtract another $16MM from their cap (difference between old $14.1mm salary and new $30mm salary) and that leaves $23MM. That's going to make it really hard to extend Trent Williams unless he's willing to take a below-market deal.

You have to wait to see the details of the contract. Just because he's getting $30M AAV doesn't mean the cap hit is $30M each season.

I am just really unhappy with the state of our NFL media, and the info guys, pretty clearly to me, are carrying water for whomever is giving them info. I son't trust anything they say about what they knew, or claim they knew, AFTER the fact.
Completely agree. They’re in the ratings game, just like Xwitterers are in the “1st to break news gets to monetize their account” game.

It’s all capitalism 1st, integrity 2nd. I tbh k that rubs some of us GenX-ers & boomers wrong because we were the last gen of Walter Cronkite & demanding authenticity.

The last month of this has been a drain on 49ers fans & the FF community alike.

In a massive game of chicken, the Niners held their ground.

I guess it probably depends on what point in time you're talking about. Certainly not from the time that BA was asking for 28.5 per year.

The 49ers really read the market poorly on this one.
I dunno. Maybe they did. But some of the reporting has suggested that the Niners met his demands a couple times, but Aiyuk kept moving the goalposts a couple times after they did so. I can imagine that would have been aggravating for the team if so.

If they met his demands when he made them I'm sure he would have been signed long ago. The market kept shifting from all those big contracts, so I'm sure they were frustrated and leaking their narrative to save face.

PFT summarize the mess pretty well:

That’s not the only version that’s been reported.

So if NE, Pittsburgh and Cleveland were all willing to pay him more, plus the draft picks, isn't that what his market value is? Sounds like he gave the 9ers a hometeam discount. Not sure why the fans should be upset that it took him a while to do so.

Just went 3.08 as the 17th WR off the board in #21 - FBG $50 Home League.

After Evans, Olave, Kupp & DK and with DJ Moore, Nico, Waddle, Devonta etc still on the board.
Aiyuk went at the 2-3 turn to CMC team in my local league.

I think considering his contract status, getting what Amon Ra got was right in line. Maybe a slight overpay, IMO, but it's splitting hairs, it really shouldn't matter to SF fans. He signed a market level extension.
The money was close, and he preferred SF over the Pats, Steelers, and Browns.

which is a good indication he's not suffering from CTE.

With the rumors of Niners offering a pick for Sutton I just kinda chuckled and thought of course they did. What a weird narrative this journey was.

Countdown to Deebo holdout next year…

Think Deebo will get moved in the offseason.
If that's the case then SF handled this very poorly. These other players are creating for Aiyuk, and he was smart to cash in after his breakout season. If DeeBo/Kittle/McCaffrey aren't there he's getting locked down by #1 corners with safety help every week. He's a mirage. The 49ers botched this. They should have paid Trent Williams and let this guy rot on his couch. There are impact WRs coming out every year AND they just drafted a WR in the first round.

Only Tyreek had a higher PFF grade than Aiyuk last year. It’s fine to not be a fan, but the numbers actually do point to him being elite. He also has fantastic hands-only two drops last season.

In addition, he’s also an outstanding run-blocker, which we all know is paramount in this offense.

Even with all of the other talent on this offense, it would be foolish in my opinion to assume this offense would not have skipped a beat without him. It seems the Niners agree.

Let someone else draft him. Wait a couple of games for him to get back into game-playing shape, work off the rust, and perform below his standards, thennnnn work a trade for him at a lower value.

Kyle Shanahan wants to run the ball on every single down. Barring a massively unforeseen circumstance, you can expect about 500 pass attempts from this team. It's going to be tough for him to jump to the 120 target range IMO.

Does anyone think Aiyuk gets fed moer this year?
I tend to doubt it. Purdy's spent the last couple months developing chemistry with his other receivers. Prior to last season, Purdy and Auyik spent a ton of offseason time together.
Deebo and Aiyuk will be on the field the majority of the time. What other wide receivers are going to out target them?
I'm not suggesting Aiyuk will fall to WR3 on the team in terms of targets, but Deebo had his best training camp in years and I expect Chris Conley to be on the field more and bleed some targets that might have gone to Aiyuk in the past. (To be clear, Conley will not receive a ton of playing time, but I think he will see the field on passing downs once in a while, which will be a change from years past.)

Deebo is going to be in the same place Aiyuk was this offseason. I have serious doubts the 49ers are going to pay Deebo $30M+.

Thank God. This has been one of the most painful and infuriating threads I've ever seen on this board in 25 years.

Really? There was tons of speculation as everyone tried to predict what he'd do.

Some people had firm opinions. But I missed anything "painful" and certainly missed anything "infuriating".

We never want threads to be those things.

I do get that the situation dragged out. And there was more speculation just because it went on so long.

But speculating about football is mostly what we do on this forum. I don't think people are going to stop posting their opinions on the topic or sharing opinions / predictions they're hearing.

Or are you saying something different?

For the topic though, yes, I'm glad to have some clarity.
