Good in my book*I obeyed, but posting to say I have not posted does that count?
Zero reason to think they won't make another deep playoff run. Offensively, they're probably better at every position group than they were last year (assuming Aiyuk stays). Defensively, they finally have a solid DE opposite Bosa, and their secondary should be better as well. Hoping we can somewhat cover Greenlaws absense with decent play from the guys we have. Not having Steve Wilks in the building is also an instant boost. He was the biggest reason for the defensive drop-off last season.I believe they’ll still be very competitive. Very much still in the window. They’re a deep and talented team. This is the bigger issue, and it’s become a frustrating trend with the 49ers the last few years. That being said if the franchises keep caving it’s going to happen more often.
The 49ers are going to have a rough year. Too much noise all off seasom and getting older. Their window is shutting imo
This nonsense doesn’t make them better though, that’s for sure. Has to be distracting.
Fortunately they have a very good coaching staff. That can help manage the distraction.

Kick coverage is what worries me the most about this team.
11.5What’s the O/U on wins for SF? I’m calling my book.
These deep runs take their toll.
Yep. If I had a million dollar to pick the Superbowl I'd pick Niners and Chiefs. Again11.5What’s the O/U on wins for SF? I’m calling my book.

Yes. I'm not worried about all the noise. Theyre seasoned, have tons of postseason experience, and are tired of falling short.Kick coverage is your worry? True, but they also have potentially ascending talent as well. Purdy is still growing as a QB, and Pearsall could be a guy if he can get healthy. You’ll be wrong. Stuff changes quickly in this league

Other than their kickers, which I have faith in, special teams is their biggest weakness IMO.
Edit: Let me rephrase that. Special teams is the one unit I feel they need the most improvement in.
They are seasoned all right. Getting long in the tooth. Injuries and guys holding out. I know your a homer but you might want to brace yourself for a rough ride. no doubt they are great team and will play hard but there signs its trending down. Ignore them if you want.

You said “sticky noodle” :Beavis laugh:Yep - that came off more as wishful thinking from Niners fans, or someone pretending to be an insider throwing spaghetti against the wall hoping for a sticky noodle. The more specific the rumor, the most skeptic I am of its validity. Like that crap about Minkah Fitzpatrick being rumored to be going the other way in a trade
Very doubtful500 team. Book it
Someone needs to do a study.
Brandon Aiyuk: culture wrecker, selfish.
Ceedee Lamb, Ja'Marr Chase, Trent Williams: good guys.
Make it make sense

Things do sometimes seem to be assigned unfairly.
In this case, I'd say it's mostly that many people don't perceive Aiyuk to be in the same class of elite WRs like Chase and Lamb. And not a beloved all timer like Trent Williams.
Add the "maturity" / "doghouse" stuff from a while back and I'd guess that's maybe why he's getting some of this attention.
Certainly, no study. Just a guess there as perception is tricky.
Deebo, Bosa, Williams, and now Williams again, yes.Didn't Deebo holdout and threaten and eventually get what he wanted from the Niners?
Not accurate. As of 3/17/24 they were 16.2M under. How is he selfish with the Niners $50M under the cap last I saw?

Not sure where you’re getting $50M.
They cleared up a little to get to ~$16 by restructuring Juice.
Using your example, that's where I got the $50M to start with, add to that $36M carry over, they got to keep a lot last year, most know why when you have a 7th Rd rookie QBNot accurate. As of 3/17/24 they were 16.2M under. How is he selfish with the Niners $50M under the cap last I saw?

This is incorrect. OverTheCap shows the 49ers with the most cap space in the league, at $52.xM in available cap space. Spotrac also shows the 49ers with the most cap space in the league, but at $48.6M. Spotrac shows the primary reason for this, showing that the 49ers carried over $36.4M in 2023 cap space.

As of June 2, 2024, the San Francisco 49ers had about $41 million more than the projected $260 million salary cap for 2025, which could give them more room to maneuver next year.
As of March 17, 2024, the 49ers had $16.2 million in available cap space, which was the 21st-most in the NFL. Spotrac.com reported that as of 2024, the 49ers had $284,283,164 in total cap allocations, $48,581,270 in top 51 cap space, $2,922,016 in reserve lists, and $19,516,439 in dead cap.
And the capology. I forgot about the capology.I'm just here for the memes at this point.I thought we agreed not to post in this thread until he signs, must have been a dream I had.

Anyone know this? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Can anyone think of any recent examples of players who have done what Aiyuk is doing this offseason, and went on to have a big season that year?

Bosa had kind of a crappy season. Started slow, looked sluggish for much of it. Many attributed this to his holdout.Nick Bosa last year.

NFL history is littered with QBs the same or worse than Tua that took their teams to the Superbowl. Not sure where this comes from. Miami is 32-19 when he starts in regular season games, and 0-1 in the playoffs (on the road vs Mahomes).
Bosa had 3 sacks in the first 8 weeks of the season. He admitted that not having training camp set him back several weeks in regard to being in game shape. After the bye in week 9, he had 5 sacks in the next 3 games.Bosa had kind of a crappy season. Started slow, looked sluggish for much of it. Many attributed this to his holdout.Nick Bosa last year.
Bosa had a great 2023 season (all PFF data below from regular season only):
- Tied for #2 in PFF defense grade (92.7)
- #3 in PFF pass rush grade (92.6)
- #3 in pressures (95)
- #4 in pass rush win percentage (22.3%)
- Tied for #10 in stops (38)

That doesn't have anything to do with how Aiyuk will perform, of course.

Stan Humphries and Rex Grossman got their teams to a SB. If Tua doesn't it's not because of talent, it's because there's a buzzsaw in the AFC by the name of the Kansas City Chiefs in the way.that would be sweet but Tua isn't taking a team to the SB.Outside losing the million dollars I do hope I'm wrong. You have to use the top 51 cap space at both of the sources I linked, not the cap space that includes all contracts, since there are no cap rules at any time of year that requires counting all contracts against the cap. Your second quote shows that Spotrac reported ~$48.5M in top 51 cap space in March. That is the right number, though top 51 is the offseason rule.
Moving to in-season, it is obviously 53 contracts, not 51, plus they have to pay for the practice squad and reserve a budget for practice squad activiations and in-season injury replacements. Accounting for all of that will take another $9.5M or more. So, practically, using Spotrac data, the 49ers have about $39M in available 2024 cap space. But reporting today is ignoring those in-season expenses, so it would be representing ~$48.5M.
