WR Brandon Aiyuk, SF (15 Viewers)

The injury sucks for both Aiyuk and SF. The timing is even worse, not that there is ever a good time for an injury but it seems so many things have gone wrong.

Aiyuk is still a fantastic receiver and would have been paid whether it was SF or not. SF is better when Aiyuk is playing. He does everything SF asks, including blocking very well.

The SF offense hasn't been hitting on full with CMC out, Deebo in an out as well as Aiyuk holding out and obviously now injured.

Not much else to say here other than Aiyuk is a very very good WR and he's a great fit for this offense. I still think it was the right thing to do to re-sign him and no one can predict a significant knee injury like this. He's only 26 and will be back.

There needs to be a middle ground because now the team is screwed paying for a player they don't have for a year.

I think there should be built-in injury clauses in contracts. A player gets their entire salary as long as they're healthy, but if they get injured, their pay gets adjusted for time missed. If a player makes $20 mil/yr and gets a season ending injury week 8, he gets half his salary for that season. Miss 4 games? You lose 4 games of pay.

I know that'll never happen, but I think something needs to be done to make it fair for both sides.
Nah, but the organization should get some sort of salary cap relief

What is his current value in dynasty right now? I might go do some shopping. If he's healthy and playing he's worth a first but that seems steep right now with lots of questions still.

Second isn't enough.... hmm maybe an early second and a rookie flyer?

His value will be in the recovery as reports like this come out, but still depreciated. I am trying to package him for a RB right now, so we be curious if anyone has seen any recent trades. I agree about the pick values you mentioned, 1st is too much and a 2nd is too little.

KTC now has a trade "database" - FWIW these are what comes up:

Ayiuk for a (each line is a separate trade):

2026 second
Godwin
Jayden Reed
Matthew Golden + a 2027 second
Downs
Mike Evans
Shakir and a 2026 second
2025 - 2.03

The only 2 I would even take a second to think about are Golden and Downs. I love Godwin, but there us an age gap between these 2.

might not be helpful to you, but I was offered Aiyuk and Wan'Dale Robinson for Evan Engram in a dynasty league I just joined. 0.5 ppr/0.5 pp1st. start 3 wr, 1te, 2 flex (incl rb).

Aiyuk has an relatively high salary (5th-6th highest WR going into next season). Even considering that, I think this offer is a massive overpay for Engram.

He has two things working against him in the value department. 1) Recovering from injury. 2) After he got on the field after he held out he was not productive..at all. If you do not hold him it is probably worth sniffing around, if you do you are probably stuck unless you are selling at a great discount. I am in the stuck category.

Stuck category as well I suppose, but I am okay with it. I offered him for the 1.09 and was turned down, but not immediately. I am still a believer in the talent. I just saw an opportunity to get a little draft capital, and he’s like my WR5 or 6 on that team.

I think the WR out of the group that Aiyuk is closest to in age is actually Godwin.

Same exact position, Aiyuk is my 6 (very strong 1-5). I would like to turn him into a running back but do not know what a fair swap would be. Not trying to turn this into my issues, just sharing my situation and trying to see if anyone else has had any experience in trading him.

The injury one is the biggest concern for sure. It might take him most of the year to get back to 100%. He will be back "soon" but still might not be 100%. I'm debating to buy now or if his first game or 2 don't go so hot maybe that is a buy window.

I'm not too worried about his slow start after his holdout. He missed a lot of time and he didn't look up to speed yet with the offense. Same thing could happen though coming off injury - how long will it take...

Matt Maiocco (via the Rich Eisen Show) on Brandon Aiyuk:

“He’s making really good progress. Even above and beyond where they expected him to be. He looks very good. The 49ers are very impressed and optimistic about where he is.”

Matt believes the team will pump the breaks on the idea of BA playing in week 1 and have him start the season on PUP but he also said that if he were a betting man, he would pick week 6 at Tampa Bay as the game BA will make his season debut.

Interesting that Lynch would make a comment like that while they're trying to work things out with Jauan Jennings. Doesn't seem like that helps the 49'ers negotiating position at all...but what do I know?

It's gonna take him a loooong time to make and impact. Probably not until next year. With Piersal n Jennings( when not hurt) are clicking with whatever QB is chucking the rock..when a healthy Kittle is back, you still have CM to battle for targets.

Waste of bench space this year imo

Great, just great. Enter Demarcus Robinson, and Lucy, calling out to Charlie Brown: "Hey, come kick the football!"

Can't wait to fall for it, again.

With this news is he even worth keeping on IR? I have had him since my draft but could use that spot for Evans now. Upcoming bye weeks are about to make decisions tougher all around. Wish they would have provided some type of estimate vs. not close.

Just checking, what were the expectations? Maybe I missed something but thought week 8 was hopeful and week 10 more realistic.

I was originally expecting around weeks 6 to 8. Based on their lack of specifics, your timeline is definitely more realistic but it could be even worse. Now as I actually have to deal with injuries and heading into bye weeks I am not sure I can have him clogging my IR spot while I have to drop others to deal with said injuries/bye weeks with no relief in sight.

Getting back on the field is one thing. Being productive enough to start in a fantasy football lineup up is another thing. Unless he’s on the field by about week 8-10, forget it. I’d want to see a decent outing first before I’d trust him in a lineup.

Whether he comes back to play this season or not I would avoid him, the injuries he had are not conducive to him
being back to be anywhere near his normal ability, next year would be when you would want to give him a shot

He is 100% avoid for me this season

Taysom Hill, who also had a multi-ligament ACL tear, is 8 years older than Aiyuk, gave him almost a 2 month head start, and he’s returning to play before Aiyuk even seems close to practicing.

SF really should take a long long look at their medical and training staff/setup.

Agree.

Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL on October 20, 2024, during a Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Stefon Diggs tore his ACL on October 27, 2024, a non-contact injury during the Texans' Week 8 game.

Diggs started Week 1. This past week he was 6 for 101 suggesting all the ACL surgery rust has been shaken off.

While not all ACL injuries or surgeries are the same, it does seem a bit curious that Aiyuk is still apparently not close to returning.

Does Aiyuk even want to play? He did get paid last year, so what’s the motivation?

I thought Aiyuk also had MCL?

I googled Taysom Hill vs Aiyuk injury and got this from AI

Based on injury updates from October 2025, Taysom Hill's knee injury was more severe than Brandon Aiyuk's. However, Hill's recovery was much faster, and he was recently activated to play, while Aiyuk's return remains weeks away.

Here is a comparison of Taysom Hill and Brandon Aiyuk's recent knee injuries:

Taysom Hill (Saints)
  • Injury severity: In December 2024, Hill suffered a torn ACL and significant additional damage, including all four ligaments of his posterolateral corner (PLC), requiring a partial knee reconstruction.
  • Initial prognosis: Due to the extensive damage and his age (35), Hill was initially told a return in 2025 was questionable.
  • Recovery: Hill had an impressive recovery and was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on October 4, 2025, after missing the first four games of the season.
  • Return status: He is eligible to make his 2025 season debut in Week 5 against the New York Giants.
Brandon Aiyuk (49ers)
  • Injury severity: In Week 7 of the 2024 season, Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL. The San Francisco general manager noted it was a "fairly significant injury" with damage to multiple parts of his knee.
  • Initial prognosis: Aiyuk was expected to miss significant time and was placed on the PUP list to start the 2025 season.
  • Recovery: As of early October 2025, Aiyuk is progressing without setbacks but is "not close" to returning to action and remains weeks away.
  • Return status: The 49ers will be a better team when Aiyuk is back, but they are proceeding cautiously with his recover

That is quite telling and interesting. I never had interest in Aiyuk this year, but am surprised and a bit concerned when comparing the two now.

It's useless to speculate and he will be back when he is back but Shanahan's updates tell me, I think, way more than I want to know. What is it with San Francisco and their approaches to both injuries and personnel? Remember they couldn't get a hold of Jimmy G, even by phone, for like days on end and had to send somebody to his house to get him to come to their facility for basic ****, like practice? I heard that story and I was thinking most coaches would have had an APB out by Tuesday if you weren't on the field Monday.

At QB? ****.
