WR Gabriel Davis, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

In my main league (1 keeper), he's my keeper. I drafted him in the 12th round, with the intention of him being my choice. The playoff game just intensified that....

This week I offered Jamar Chase in a dynasty for Gabe Davis, 2023 1st, 2x2023 2nd, and 2023 3rd.

It was promptly rejected.
Why on Earth would you offer that?
He should consider himself lucky that he got rejected lol. Chase is as untouchable as it gets. If I were a contender I’d definitely mortgage next year to get chase on my squad

This thread is gonna have an aneurysm when Gabe goes off week 1.
Perhaps. But for the record, I love Gabe at his ADP and got him in one league so far with 2 drafts to go. I'll be ecstatic if he goes off, and even more so because I didn't have to reach for him to get him.

I guess it also depends on what one paid for Davis.

I got him as a balancing piece in a larger deal, so I’d do this in a heartbeat. Id throw in my 4th & 5th rounders on a lark.

But if someone just paid a ransom for Davis, I could see maybe a little hesitation.

I’ve got 6x 2023’s. This has me thinking for next year’s draft.

In my 16 team league I paid James Robinson + David Bell + ‘23 mid 4th for Davis & I’d still smash accept as the Davis owner.

With all the preseason bump you guys gave this guy Gabriel Davis, he is a borderline #1 overall pick now.
Geesh.......

Man, the hype machine is working overtime on Davis. I was thrilled to get him in the 6th round to complement earlier picks Chase and Sutton. Taking him much earlier feels like a reach to me.

Who were your other options?
Pittman (10th round cost) and Fournette (5th round cost).
And what round cost is Gabriel?
Cost me an 11th
Nice that's great value. I think Pittman in 10th woulda been a bit better but can't go wrong with either of those.

You are both dumb

I’m a big fan of Davis but he did you a favor

I am starting 5 WR's week 1, having depth is just as important as studs with so many players being started. I am in decent shape with my WR 5 currently being mooney, however if either chase or burrow suffers an injury my team is toast.

If I traded for Davis and either Davis or Allen suffered an injury I would have ammunition to trade for a replacement.

I'd find other ways to add depth than trading away a Top 3 dynasty asset for that return (but you know your league better than me) - and like I said, I am high on Davis, but let's not pretend he's a sure thing yet.

He’s going early to mid round 3 in my leagues. I think these are the same people who took CEH early first his rookie year. Nothing like taking a guy at his ceiling which he has yet to achieve.

He was taken before Sutton in my league
Oy.
Like 6 picks before, but still.

Also, it was the 11 spot, and he assumed he wouldn’t make it back to him.

Hey, I watch a lot of YouTube FF stuff, and there’s a whole contingent of Jeudy truthers who believe he’s the WR1.

Maybe my friend got sucked into it like QAnon? He might be trusting the plan.

Oy.

To be fair Sutton and Davis are almost the same player in the same situation (although DIggs >>> Jeudy). Both big and fast WRs that may not be the top target on their team, but will get the deep targets and red-zone looks in what should be high flying offenses.

I would take Sutton (better track record and with terrible QBs) but I'd be far from shocked if Davis outscores him.

Someone took Jeudy before Sutton.
I think Gabe before Sutton is totally acceptable

I wouldn’t take either before Sutton.

But many rankings have Sutton & Jeudy right next to each other in the rankings (WR20-21, etc) so it’s not outrageous.

I just believe Jeudy would have made it back to him at 5.11, and taking him at 4.02 was a reach.

Sorry, my bad then. Misread it.

S’ok, Mass did a partial quote. The situation was ripe for a misread. Imma say it was entrapment.

@massraider - if you’re a cop you have to tell us you’re a cop.

Any others? This is good info that could help those with their drafts coming up who might have wanted to take him in the 4th round after reading these boards last week.
My local redraft league has a draft tonight using ESPN, and I was more than a little annoyed to see ESPN auto-rank G Davis #49. Basically everyone is going to see him as best available from that point on. So much for capitalizing on value.
3 league members were auto drafting, including 2 who I doubt take the time to rank/order away from ESPN ranking, so I had no choice but to reach if I wanted G Davis. I did. Hopefully I got value elsewhere.

McLaurin went just before Gabe. Pitta, Sutton, Robinson, and Mike Williams after him in round 4.
I would have a difficult time passing on Sutton, Pittman & Robinson there. I think last season may have been peak M.Williams though so maybe I could see that.

What’s the under on people calling him a bust after 1 game?

6/57/1 or worse?

The earlier he goes in drafts, the more ridiculous his stat line will have to be to avoid that label. Team 3.03 up there is gonna need an 8/163/2 line as a floor.

6/57/1
I'm taking the over
So even if he does better than this, people will call him a bust and complain?

Or you think he’ll be better than this?
I'd like to think he'd do better than that.
But they're going up against the rams D, so if he doesn't get that I'm sure some people will complain.
I don't pay close attention to the rams defense so i could be wrong here, 3-4 man. I'm assuming Ramsey will be on Diggs, I don't know who will be on Davis. https://twitter.com/PFF_Bills/status/1476579968226316290
Davis was tied for the most TD catches in man coverage last year... regular season, not including playoffs.
So yeah, I'm taking the over.
