WR Jayden Reed, GB (1 Viewer)

Jason Wilde
On @WISCTV_News3 ~ Jayden Reed doesn't have much interest in the timeline doctors recommend for recovering from a Jones fracture. Overjoyed to be back at practice on Tuesday, the #Packers leading receiver the past two years plans to play through the pain.

Worth reading through this story.

"A league source said Wednesday evening that (Jayden) Reed has a Jones fracture — a break in his fifth metatarsal, the bone that joins the pinkie toe to the base of the foot."

I don't like this. No way that is going to heal properly while playing football.
Yep. And then it will hinder him longer until surgery. Then he'll be shelved to recover. Ugh. He'll probably be in and out of starting lineups all year unless it doesn't hurt...which obviously it does.

This was his de facto status last year anyway with the high volatility in his fantasy scoring.

I have him in my main dynasty league and really like(d) him. But he's been a frustrating own whereby his limited usage makes him a really frustrating start because of the variance.

I’m sure all of who took Reed in dynasty are wishing we had moved him between Y1 and Y2

Yep. Felt like I nailed that rookie draft when I took him in like the second or third. But he cost me some games last year and I always seemed to start him and sit him on the wrong weeks. I frankly would have been better off if he was just hurt.

I roster Reed in 2 leagues, but also have Golden in 1 of those leagues.
Either way, I’d prefer they just put him on IR for 4 weeks to start the season so he heals up (and to give me a hair of roster flexibility)

I might have posted this 3 different times on this board, but getting offered Olave and 2 2nds for him in week 11 was one of the finer FF gifts I've been given.

I still like the player but don’t care for how Green Bay used him last year and now this injury sucks.

Yeah that’s golden

This is the Reed topic, not the Golden topic. Cmon man, get your GB receivers topics straight.

I for one will disagree with this.

Jayden Reed is hobbling in every video we see from practice.

Even if he doesn’t have a Jones fracture (I still don’t think he does) I don’t understand why he’s practicing.

Forget doctors, the coaches have eyes.
Regardless of what the injury is, he needs to take a couple weeks off and rest at a minimum. I know he’s a dog and wants to be out there for his team and he feels pressure with all the other WRs on the team but someone from the team needs to sit down with him and talk about the long term.

I did absolutely zero research before the draft and ended up with this guy only to learn when looking at my roster after the fact that he has a broken foot he plans on playing through all season.

:ptts:

PSA announcement to Reed owners

I did not see any evidence of a foot injury affecting his play throughout the week 1 game. Look great in and out of routes and no sign that I saw of slowing and he was returning punts as usual.

Maybe someone else who watched the game could contribute if they saw something different.

Jayden Reed -

Right Shoulder, concern for AC+ labral injury.

Note: his prior dislocation/labral tear in January was to his Right shoulder, so this is likely a reinjury. He didn’t get surgery. This is what we’re concerned about for Xavier Worthy fwiw.
Well it looked like a broken collarbone for sure, so anything besides that is good news.
Okay, okay, okay... I want to talk about your post but... where's the cat???

Changing it up for a bit. Gonna show off Cinci's future franchise QB.
I guess I respect that but, you're really messing with my vibes, man.

Imma need a minnit.

ETA: Seriously, I spent at least two minutes typing variations of @dea... , @dae... etc. How about a little heads up next time?

The name is still the same!

Anyways back to Reed...

Questionable to return. I'd be shocked if he came back after seeing the way his arm was hanging there as he went to the locker room.

Sure, but did the game change?

We'll see... : 😉

It was a sick TD catch too (called back on a penality ofc) but Reed needs to just take some significant time off and heal.

Going on IR
With return designation? Confirmed broken collarbone, isn't that automatic season?
Seriously I’ve never heard of a player return the same season from a broken collarbone. I’m guessing they will give him the chance to return for possible postseason play.

Packers are 2-0 and already vanquished playoff teams from last year
Theyre saying 6 to 8 or 8 to 12 weeks depending on severity.

Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in 2017 and missed about 8 weeks.

Tyreek Hill dislocated his SC joint and came back in 6 weeks. Not a break, but a significant injury to a similar spot.

Silver lining: maybe Reed’s foot gets significantly better while he’s out?
/s

It sucks.
:sadbanana:

Forget that cat avatar. It was stupid. Your cousin as QB is much better.

This is the second really undersized guy to have a massive collarbone issue in two weeks. I know there are people that love Reed, but there are two problems. Matt LeFleur doesn't let any particular receiver have a fantasy-appropriate route share. In fact, there isn't a receiver on Green Bay that has broken 65%. And the second is that 187 might be too small. I don't know for sure, but it's seeming that way.

Same n 2013, although that was his non-throwing side and they managed it without surgery. That was the year he came back for the final game and hit Cobb for the last minute game winner at Soldier Field. The 2017 fracture was repaired with screws and plates etc., and he still came back that season, although only played a game or two before they benched him again when they were out of playoff contention.

He broke the collarbone? I didn't know or hadn't heard that, WOW!
I have no investment in him but I hope he makes a speedy recovery, been enjoying watching the Packers start the season

Worthy week 1 ✅ 5 redraft, 0 dynasty
Reed week 2. ✅ 3 redraft, 1 dynasty

This year is going swimmingly so far.
we all have years like this. but sometimes it creates opportunity. there have been times where I have dropped (or placed on IR) the injured guy and got the best waiver wire guy I could find and if it pans out you are good. sometimes even better than before.

I acknowledge its not necessarily easy, but there are always early season waiver wire guys who turn into players. it just means you need to work harder early in the season to salvage your year.

I know you are up to the task. I've seen a lot of your posts and the vast majority are on the mark. You will be fine.
