WR Jerry Jeudy, CLE (2 Viewers)

Since Christian Watson is shaping up to be a mistake I hope the value I got on this guy makes up for it. Seems like a draft day steal in the 8th round or 8$ auction

Exactly. Impossible to accurately evaluate either Sutton or Jeudy until they have a chance to play in a real offense, not the sad sack versions the Broncos have rolled out onto the field the past 4-5 years.
 
Listed as questionable - no way I am playing him even if he’s active. Won’t be 100% and runs the risk of re-injury. Hope they play it safe and rest him.

Yes. The he tore his ACL. He’s 2 years removed and his season last year was almost identical to Jeudy’s outside of touchdowns. Let it go. Not everyone has the same opinion as you.
 
Seems like a good sign for Jeudy owners if he can get back to 100% soon. Neither Sutton nor Mims stepped up in Jeudy's absence (notwithstanding a short red zone TD for Sutton) and seemed like Russ really could have used him.

I would feel worse if he was dnp or limited practice and then was listed questionable for the game, and then played. But he’s a full participant and also practiced last week. Think he’s good to go but sure I get there’s a little risk. Fact is they need him

That's my concern - either reaggravation or, perhaps more likely, being on a pitch count his first week back.

Not sure I would agree. Might be dependent on game flow IMO.

The Broncos are in about as much of a "must win" situation as a team can be in the early season, since losing two games at home against less-than-elite teams would put them in quite a hole.

They've already lost Patrick and Dulcich, had zero explosive plays last week, and so are badly in dire of getting a playmaker back for the passing game.

Obviously if it tightens up in the least bit I can see Jeudy sitting, but as long as he's feeling good I gotta believe Payton keeps him out there.

We'll see but if you recall I posted last week info from a Broncos beat writer, Allbright, who pegged the RB usage as 55/45/5. It was 45/45/8 so technically he missed but my point is that's a really good beat writer and you indicated you might pay him some attention.

He was saying yesterday Jeudy will be on a snap count.

I'll just add I think it's less about what they need today as it is making sure they don't push a player to hard coming off a soft tissue injury his first game back and don't have him available later.

I'm personally setting my lineups as if he won't play a full compliment of snaps. He'll still be in some lineups but not the must start I'd consider him otherwise.

Perfectly well said.. I'm starting him in the lineups I'm week at WR but if I had options I would take a wait & see approach..
 
Anyone watch the game to see how Jeudy looked? Saw that he got the first target on the first play from scrimmage, but didn't seem to be involved very much thereafter. Only 33 attempts by Russ, but still would have expected Jeudy to be targeted quite a bit. Not sure if it was still rust from the injury, but not the start we were hoping for.

Don't think he can be started until we see consistent target share and that Russ can complete more than 18 passes? I do understand that he had some very long bombs in this game but the Dolphins next week are clearly a superior team to the Broncos. Plus Miami heat and weather...but Denver has the altitude so it's probably offset.

I started him like a doofus and it was the no name WR's that went off. Go figure. Perhaps Jeudy wasn't 100% or was holding off on going 100%.

Jeudy wasn't 100% as you could see him gingerly distributing weight away from his leg in between plays, but he actually succeeded in getting open on several plays in the 2nd half but was not looked at by Wilson on those plays.
 
As tb1337 pointed out he was not quite 100% and as I tried to relay here last week he was on a bit of a snap count, unless you think 68% is his new normal. Snaps could have also had to do with conditioning. I'm anticipating full go or something really close this week.

Was just looking over some stuff on him as I'm looking at moving him into starting lineups this week(was in a few last week, not most).

Looks to me like he played 66% of his snaps out of the slot. Could be a one game thing related to the match-up but I got him around 37% last year. I consider this a positive.

His target separation was high so it would appear he got open(I have not re-watched). He's currently #5 in the league for target separation and separation. Minimal sample size so does not mean much but fairly impressive as he did not look quite 100% from a health or conditioning angle but appears to have been getting open. Which again jives with what tb1337 pointed out.

The match-up is what was giving me second thoughts. Vic refuses to get beat deep even if means conceding to the running game and short passes. That initially had me down on Juedy but if last week was a guide he was again mainly playing out of the slot and his aDot was on the lower side. I consider all of this a major positive for this matchup in particular.

Still not a must star, need to see a good game under this new regime first, , but someone I consider a much stronger option then last week and if I'm not starting him it's more because I got other solid options, less about being down or concerned on him.

We may have to agree to disagree on the snap count, health and conditioning things.

Jeudy was in for the entire seven plays of the final 87-yard drive at the end of the game, which was executed in 48 seconds and no timeouts. He was also the first one down the field on the Hail Mary and popped right back up to get clear separation on the subsequent 2-point conversion attempt (Wilson blatantly missed him). There's no way a guy does that IMO who is not 100% healthy and well conditioned.

IMO the bigger issue for Jeudy owners is that a) Payton loves playing with personnel groupings and b) he may not view anyone in the Broncos WR as a clear Michael Thomas-type alpha.

For example, Jeudy was in the lineup for only one of Mims' four touches, two of which were runs.

Also, Courtland Sutton has led the Broncos WR's in snap count both games, but only topping out at 86% and 89% each game

WR Brandon Johnson is a big dude who doesn't lack talent, and Payton may like him more than anyone thought. He has received about 50% of snaps in both games. Jeudy's presence in the second game only reduced Johnson's snap count by two snaps.

But I'll admit 68% snap count does seem low for a guy as talented as Jeudy, so I'm not going to die on that hill.

Lastly, Jeudy's production is dependent on Wilson's ability to work through his progressions to take advantage of Jeudy's ability to gain separation. Russ has been horrible at that so far.

It's not simplistically binary. Maybe he wasn't a huge part of that specific game plan. Or maybe game flow dictated Payton's choice of plays and therefore personnel groupings. Those are both more plausible than pitch count, which Payton explicitly said was not going to happen.

There’s been a lot of speculation the last two weeks about Jeudy getting traded. It’s been specifically to the Panthers, and then all the Twitter stuff happened. The FAN 104.3 just made a statement that their news on the forefront about Jeudy. We are about to find out. If the Panthers are wanting a WR1, not sure why they would trade for this guy. Immaturity levels are off the charts.

I think it was Lammey on the podcast that mentioned Jeudy checks out on plays that he's not featured in. Definitely immature if that's the case.
