WR Jordan Addison, MIN (1 Viewer)

Addison will be fine...he played a majority of the season without Cousins anyway...
I mean.... if Darnold is this years Baker I could see it. I just don't think Darnold will be that. I still think best hope is they take a QB at 11, let him sit for a year behind Darnold. Maybe get him some work in the end of the year when they are toast, and come out swinging in 2025.
I agree and I'm not saying Darnold is any good but Addison played well with Dobbs and Mullens so it wasn't like he had stellar QB play during his rookie season after Cousins went down.

The other piece is that K.J. Osborn and his 821 Snaps and 75 targets is a Free Agent, I think Addison will be about what he did last year, don't forget Hockenson may be a long way off being 100% to start the season, JJ will get the coverage and that all that could leave Addison a sneaky good value this year...

He's definitely capable of succeeding. Just would have felt a lot better if Cousins came back. Maybe they're going to go look at Fields or draft a talented QB.

That's a great point. I completely forgot about Hocks injury. There should be enough work for Addison to actually get a bump even if they aren't as pass heavy post Kirk considering the full situation. Good call.

But wasn't some of Addison's value due to JJ being out too? So, when Cousins was not there, JJ was out part too.

Weeks 9-13 Dobbs at QB, JJ out, Addison was 20 rec / 33 Targets for 231 yards ... 0 TD (ZERO of the Dobbs 7 TD's )
That was WR43 during that time as opposed to WR16 for weeks 1-9.

I am sorry, I don't see Darnold as anything but disaster to the entire Minn Passing Game. JJ might still be Top 24, but Addison will crash to non-startable IMO.
Addison & TJ Hock will struggle unless the OC makes serious adjustments, but AJones will see more targets further hurting them both.

Maybe this was more on Dobbs?

I don't see Darnold as any worse than Dobbs and Mullens (probably a step or two better actually) and JJ will be there. Dobbs was really bad unless he was off script...

You're probably right about that.

“Without Justin Jefferson present, second-year pro Jordan Addison is manning most of the X receiver snaps. He simply looks different than the rest of the wideouts in the way he hinges off routes and glides across the field. The Vikings will need him to step up if tight end T.J. Hockenson misses time early, and Addison looks ready to do so.”

Is a DUI typically a 4-6 game suspension in the NFL these days?
Hopefully it is. No excuses in 2024, with teams providing transportation and Uber being a thing. Especially egregious given what just happened with his teammate Khyree Jackson.
Agreed. I was just wondering if it has become a standard mandatory suspension nowadays, I mean, as long as you're found guilty and all.

I believe 3 games is mandatory for the first offense but they got some language about extenuating circumstances could lead to more, which I don't expect to apply in this case. I would plan on a 3 game suspension. ETA-if he takes this to court and draws it out the suspension likely won't happen until the case is resolved.

Addison posted pics of himself day drinking today. That's a pretty gigantic red flag for me given the circumstances. I already thought he was a pretty good sell high after a fluky TD year last season, but right now, I'd be pretty willing to sell relatively low. He seems like a doofus, and his play wasn't really anywhere near as good as his numbers last season, and he'll NEVER be the #1. That situation he had for a few weeks last season might be the best situation he has in his career.

On Insta? Did he delete it? The picture of him drinking I see is from 1 day ago.

-I heard he was asleep at the wheel which obviously is not good

But...he didn't injure anyone although he could have
He didn't injure himself in any way other than his public persona or lack of respect for DUI laws and the ability to summon a Lyft/Uber...let's talk about that for a second
I take Lyfts and Ubers more now than I ever have previously, like to take them when I really want to have a few drinks at a bar, best $15 I can spend
However...in the last couple rides I have been a little nervous with my drivers, mostly because I could not communicate with them.

-But with the kind of money these folks have...rent a LIMO for god's sake and call it a night. Or spend the extra dough for the XL on Uber/Lyft, I have way better time in those rides

I'm thankful nobody got hurt and I doubt he receives a lengthy suspension, 1-2 games

"Suspicion"
It wasn't like they rolled up on a 6 car pile up and Addison was asleep behind the wheel

He didn't walk into a bar and start beating people up, he didn't shoot up a strip joint, he wasn't forcing himself on to a woman...
Hopefully he learns from this mistake, we've all been young and done dumb things

Don't all these guys have a card in their wallets with a number on it they can call day or night and someone will come and get them no questions asked?

Probably not, no. They have Uber apps and probably friends, teammates, etc. But yeah, being 23 and drunk can lead to poor decisions which Jordan seems a bit prone to. Not an excuse but just explaining that I don't think he is approaching this as clearly as us middle aged men posting (mostly lol) soberly on a message board. I am definitely worried about this guy's future though.

Hopefully this isn't too soon (?) but maybe hearing it from someone like Henry Ruggs during rookie orientation would have more impact. If the threat to life and limb doesn't resonate with them, the potential to erase their entire career in the blink of an eye might.

Yeah I saw that.

Reminded of Jamo going to a big fight in Las Vegas with his posse two days after the gambling suspension.

The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is the part of the brain behind the forehead that's responsible for many cognitive functions, including reasoning, planning, judgment, and impulse control. It's one of the last parts of the brain to mature, and typically isn't fully developed until a person's early to mid-20s. Before the PFC is fully developed, young adults may rely on the amygdala, which is responsible for primitive emotions and impulses, to make decisions. This can lead to impulsive behavior or acting before thinking things through.

Got a sleeper alert Addison went down and was carted off.
Sounds like they expect this to be a serious leg injury. Something in the water in Minneapolis?

Is Sherfield the guy to own? Nailor is a 6th round pick in 2022... or are we just avoiding the Vikings, outside of Jefferson, altogether now?

Jones could be a 60+ catch guy. He's a great value as a RB2/3. Hockenson (in theory) should be back. I wouldn't avoid the offense altogether, but yeah, its not a hot start.
