WR Julio Jones, PHI (4 Viewers)

Julio Jones (knee) is questionable for Week 3's game against Green Bay.

Jones officially was listed as a limited participant in Friday's practice, but it sure didn't seem like he did much per Tampa's beat reporters. Todd Bowles called Julio Jones a game-time decision earlier today. He was there last week and doesn't look much better this week. We'd subjectively put Jones on the doubtful side of questionable.

Speaking Monday, Buccaneers HC Todd Bowles told reporters that he expects WR Julio Jones (knee) to play against the Chiefs in Week 4.

Jones is dealing with a partially torn PCL that has caused him to miss each of the last two games. Jones' return would be a welcome return for a Buccaneers offense that has dealt with an extremely depleted wide receiver corps this season. After averaging 42 attempts per game in 2021, Tom Brady is averaging just 34 this season, as the Buccaneers have attempted to lean on the run game with their wide receiver room decimated. Although Chris Godwin will likely miss Week 4, Mike Evans will be back from his one-game suspension and Russell Gage showed a nice connection with Brady in Week 3. Jones profiles as a FLEX option on an offense that should be able to pass with more efficiency against the Chiefs.

What are we doing here?

if Julio was a car he’d be in the junkyard
Nah....Julio would be that neighbour’s car...the former muscle car now worn out...that gets taken out early in the season only to have something blow on it, and now it’s back on his driveway up on blocks with parts strewn everywhere.

Speaking on Monday, Buccaneers HC Todd Bowles said the team is taking a long-term view with Julio Jones (knee).

Jones was inactive for the Buccaneers' Week 5 game against the Falcons and has played in just two games this season. Bowles added on Monday, "We want him fully healthy, not coming out for a week, then missing another couple of weeks. We think we have enough guys right now to weather that storm." Jones suffered a partially-torn PCL earlier in the season and has struggled to work his way back to the field. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage all healthy, there's no reason for the Bucs to jam Jones into the lineup into he's back to full health.

The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud believes the Bucs are "playing the long game" with Julio Jones (knee).

Though Jones is expected to practice in some capacity on Friday, Stroud said he doesn't think the hobbled veteran will play in Week 7 against Carolina. Julio hasn't played since Week 4 and hasn't logged a full game since the season opener against Dallas, when he caught three passes for 69 yards. Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said this month that the team wanted Julio healthy for a stretch run. That probably makes him unusable for fantasy purposes going forward. Russell Gage should continue functioning as Tom Brady's WR3 in the meantime.

Julio Jones (knee) will be a game-time decision in Week 8 against the Ravens.

Even if he's active against the Ravens, Julio is an iffy WR3/4 option who probably won't play a full complement of snaps. The Bucs seems to be saving Julio for a postseason run -- if they can position themselves for one with the team in disarray. Russell Gage (hamstring) will also be out against Baltimore. Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller should see increased playing time.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Julio Jones (knee) will play against the Ravens in Week 8.

It's his first game active since Week 4, but the Buccaneers kind of needed a third healthy wideout with Russell Gage down. Jones will be hard to trust in fantasy off a huge layoff -- he has just one catch for seven yards since Week 1. He's more of an emergency fill-in option in deeper leagues than someone you should be excited to fire up.

Julio Jones caught 2-of-4 targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 8 loss to the Ravens.

Active for the first time since Week 4, Jones scored his first touchdown in a Bucs uniform. Although it came in something that could probably be described as garbage time, the oft-injured Jones lowered his shoulder and fought for the plane. It was a rare Tampa highlight on the evening. Jones appeared shaken up once earlier in the contest but played through whatever it was. Fantasy managers know by now to take things week by week with the 33-year-old Jones, but he could offer desperation WR4 appeal for Week 9 against the Rams with the Bucs hunting for answers on offense.

Updating an earlier item, Julio Jones (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

It means Wednesday's DNP was just a maintenance day. Jones will be out there against the Rams. It's just a matter of how long he will be out there, as the 33-year-old is at ever-present risk of setbacks/new injuries. With six teams on bye, Jones is a last-gasp WR4 who offers a bit of upside.

Between bye weeks and injuries I may actually have to start him (or Van Jefferson.) Not quite how I envisioned my season going.

Julio Jones caught 3-of-5 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 10 win over the Seahawks.

Julio was still splitting reps with Scotty Miller but made the most of his snaps with his second score since returning to the lineup in Week 8. His 53 yards were also a high watermark since Week 1. Jones was listed on the Bucs' practice report before being cleared on Friday. It's possible Julio gets a larger role after Tampa Bay's Week 11 bye. He should be stashed in all fantasy formats.

Julio Jones (knee) was not seen at practice on Thursday.

After logging a DNP on Wednesday, it appears Jones may be trending down heading into Week 15's matchup against the Bengals. Jones has dealt with a knee injury for the majority of the season, so it's possible this is a load-management thing and he logs a limited session on Friday. Still, this is the first time Jones has been on the practice report in nearly two weeks. If he's unable to go, Russell Gage should see a slightly larger role.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Julio Jones (knee) is not expected to play in Week 15 against the Bengals.

Jones has been dealing with a knee injury for the bulk of the season. It appears as though the issue has flared up again. His absence entrenches Russell Gage as the team's third receiver. Gage will enter a possible shootout with the Bengals as a risky WR4 option. Julio can be dropped in all but the deepest of leagues.

Julio Jones caught 7-of-11 targets for 74 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Wild Card Round loss to the Cowboys.

Coming off an injury-lost season in Tennessee, Jones joined the Bucs looking to revive his career alongside the greatest quarterback of all time. Instead, as has been the case in each of his previous three seasons, he struggled through various injuries and was a lesser version of himself. Jones appeared in 10 games for Tampa Bay, earning 24 catches for 299 yards and two scores. Even when he was active, the Bucs platooned him with Russell Gage for their No. 3 receiver role. Jones pitched in for the occasional big play but generally looked like a shell of his former self. A free agent in the spring, Jones won’t earn more than a one-year contract on the open market.

Finished WR35 as a rookie, think he fell hard on a spectacular tackle and had a Hip
