WR Michael Pittman, IND (1 Viewer)

NFL Beat Writers @32BeatWriters

“No player’s flashed more often than Pittman. (He) looks primed to break out and build off his 1,000-yard season in 2021. Detroit didn’t have an answer for him all week, & Pittman caught everything: crossers, screens, posts down the middle, deep shots… He was a problem.” #colts

Pittman had a good day Wednesday.

Today was a different story.

Lions-Colts Day 2 observations

Can’t wait to see the contrast on Hard Knocks next week.

****************

But yeah, Pittman gonna be a beast this year

Struggling with ranking Pittman/DJ Moore/Keenan Allen.

Feels like it's own tier and getting 1 of them is winning.

I'm happier to hear this (decidedly Detroit biased) take than all of the positive vibes spouting everywhere. Now that I'm all in on Pittman every good note from camp just seems like a precursor to the other shoe dropping.

I usually go with which of their QBs I trust the most to get them the ball. For me that would be Allen/Pittman/Moore.
Pittman and DJ have more upside at this stage of their careers. Herbert is great, but he started spreading the ball around in the 2nd half of last year to guys like Palmer and Guyton later in the year. I'd rank them Pittman, Allen, Moore.

The Athletic's Zak Keefer believes Michael Pittman is "primed to break out" in 2022.

Pittman has looked the part of a dominant alpha wideout throughout Indianapolis' training camp. In recent scrimmages against the Lions, "Pittman caught everything: crossers, screens, posts down the middle, deep shots on the sideline," Keefer said. "He was a problem." By all accounts, Pittman -- who was 13th among receivers in targets per route run in 2021 -- should be the primary beneficiary of a rejuvenated Colts offense led by Matt Ryan, a significant upgrade over Carson Wentz. Pittman certainly has top-10 upside in 2022.

He's the new Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, Brandin Cooks, Hines Ward, tc. He will put up 1,000 yards and nobody will acknowledge or be happy about it as he provides great value as a WR3 all year.

He might be that THIS year, but if he does what we expect/hope he will do, he could be solidly within the top 10 WRs next year, going in the 2nd round of the draft.

Received an offer of Tyreek, Kirk and Palmer for him in dynasty. While they all have their questions, with Pittman I don’t trust his 38 yr old QB behind an average at best OL. The offer seems rich on the surface, leaning towards accepting

If you have the roster spots, it seems like a must accept.

Tough one. Though Kirk and Palmer have potential, they are dwarfed by Tyreek vs Pittman. If your team is largely trash as far as being competitive now, keep Pittman. If your team is competitive ... tough call, your guess is as good as mine. I feel like I'd probably lean reject.

It’s a win now team, your post sums up where I at.

I’d be very tempted to take that offer.

I believe in Palmer in a post-Keenan Allen era. Kirk is a bit of an unknown in JAX, but they’re gonna force feed him, and you get Hill?

I must be missing something because I smash accept.

3 for 1 means you're jettisoning some players. Maybe not a big deal but part of the equation.

I might rather have Hill than Pittman straight up, and I'm a Pittman owner.

Good point, but those 3 would be an upgrade over the back of my roster in both of my dynasty leagues.

Smash accept for sure. Unless you got crazy prospects sitting on your bench that you gotta cut (Pickens, Akers, Pierce, etc.) it's a no brainer...

Michael Pittman caught 9-of-13 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in Indianapolis' Week 1 tie against Houston.

His touchdown was a checkdown where he beat a Houston defender in the open field and found a clear path to pay dirt. Another goal line target towards him was easily defensed. The Colts didn't really get a lot out of their secondary receivers today, but it's hard to understand easy paths to any of them breaking out like this. Pittman should be on the back of the WR1 radar against the Jaguars in Week 2.

Michael Pittman (quad) was absent from the portion of Colts practice open to the media on Thursday.

Neither The Athletic nor Indianapolis Star spotted Pittman after he got in a "limited" session on Wednesday. It could mean he has suffered a setback, or it could be part of a pre-planned routine to manage Pittman's reps. It is also possible he gets slapped with another "limited" tag on the official injury report. The takeaway is that Pittman is shaping up as genuinely questionable for Sunday's plus matchup with the Texans following his monster Week 1. Stay tuned.

Limited yesterday, DNP practice today. Uh oh.

With Pittman and Swift on my roster, not a great start for me.

Colts coach Frank Reich said that Michael Pittman (quad) is questionable for Week 2 against the Jaguars.

Pittman apparently suffered the injury in practice on Wednesday. Frank Reich told reporters that he's "optimistic Pitt will be fine" in a press session on Friday. We'd put Pittman on the optimistic side of questionable before seeing his official practice status for Friday, but there's a real chance he's sidelined against the Jaguars at this point.

officially OUT for tomorrow FFS.
Given how tough this guy is, definitely concerned here. And the injury happened in practice of all places.
The hope, and I stress hope, because I doubt any team actually feels this way, is that he could play, but he'd be less effective, and they don't wanna push him in week 2 against a lesser opponent. Of course, they just tied the Texans, so its arguable the Colts themselves are a lesser opponent.

I’m still having trust issues with Hall’s usage, and I suspect Hines is going to be much more involved without Pittman

Don't blame you. Hall only got six rushes last game. A bunch of targets, but he was not the primary back.
When I traded for Hines, it wasn’t exactly as a Pittman handcuff, but it might just work out like that.

I do not want to start the season 0-2. Faced Kupp week 1, & Mike Williams week 2. :(

Going to see if the ex-USC mojo works by starting London in lieu of Pittman.

This is exactly what I have to do in one particular "Start 3 WR" league.
My 4 WRs are Pittman, Diontae Johnson, Donavon People-Jones, Drake London.
The later rounds of our draft i kept getting sniped, round after round. I eventually I had to get London, as he was the highest upside left.
Losing my best WR/Pittman isn't ideal, and I hoped to wait and start London in the next few weeks in better matchups. But you gotta dance with who ya brought.
My opponent started JuJu against me.......so there's that.

for the truly desperate, or someone with a roster spot to burn because that's a thing, possible ascension candidate if Pittman ends up missing more than one week

Ashton Dulin 6'2" 215
week 1 stat 3/6/46/0

he was WR4 on the depth chart last week and all 6 of his targets came in the second half. but looking at Paris and and Pierce performance ahead of him against a lesser team on paper, Dulin just got interesting.

Looks like I’m rolling with Isiah McKenzie in one league and Jeff Wilson in another and either Dobbins, Dulin, or Irv Smith in another.

Pierce is also out.
