Colts HC Frank Reich said Michael Pittman (quad) "made good progress" in his recovery and could play in Week 3 against the Chiefs.
This is great news for a Colts team that was served a 24-0 shutout by the Jaguars in Week 2. Down both Pittman and rookie wide receiver Alec Pierce (concussion), the Colts managed just 195 yards through the air while Matt Ryan threw three interceptions on the afternoon. Pittman should be in for a big day against the Chiefs if he suits up, after going for 9-121-1 in Week 1.

Michael Pittman (quad) returned to practice Wednesday.
After getting in a limited practice session last week, Pittman was downgraded to consecutive DNPs on Thursday and Friday before being ruled out. He will likely be given a limited tag for his first practice this week. Colts coach Frank Reich has already said he could return for Week 3. As long as he doesn't get downgraded midweek again, Pittman should suit up for his upcoming matchup with the Chiefs. He will be a high-end WR2 for the exciting matchup if healthy.

Colts coach Frank Reich said Michael Pittman (quad) is "ready to go" for Week 3 against the Chiefs.
Pittman will make for a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2 in his return against a Chiefs defense that allowed 334 passing yards to Justin Herbert last weekend. The Chiefs are 22nd in pass DVOA allowed and, on paper shouldn't be a huge ask for the Colts offense to generate first downs against. We would've said the same thing about the Jaguars last weekend, though, so there's some downside potential here.

Michael Pittman caught 8-of-9 targets for 72 yards in the Colts' Week 3 win over the Chiefs.
After missing Week 2 with a quad issue, Pittman returned and paced the Colts in targets, seeing three more than Nyheim Hines. Pittman's line is nothing to write home about, but he didn't appear to have any ill-effects from the quad. Pittman will be a WR1/2 next week against the Titans.

Michael Pittman caught 5-of-8 targets for 59 yards in the Colts' Week 5 win over the Broncos.
In a game that featured only field goals, Pittman was held out of the end zone for the third consecutive week but saw good volume in a matchup that featured underwhelming offenses on both sides. Pittman would help convert three first downs for the Colts on the evening, finding space to operate against a stout Broncos defense when given the opportunity to do so. With five games now under their belt, there's a chance that this Colts' offense is just bad, and that Pittman will have these down games as a result of playing in such a broken offense. Still the top option in the passing game, Pittman should be a solid WR2 in Week 6 against the Jaguars.

And owning Seahawks is turning out to be a treat. Just what everyone predicted heading into the season.Owning colts and broncos this year is going to sink a lot of fantasy teams...
I'm with you here. I don't know what to do about Pittman now. He absolutely is not a "you always start him" at this point. Ryan is single-handedly dragging down everyone on the offense with him.Starting to get concerned about Pittman's ability to be a true alpha WR we were expecting, especially in this ecosystem. He's getting a fair amount of targets, but not the target hog that comes with other top WRs. Granted, a lot of it is due to Ryan and the OL, where he has to get rid of the ball quickly, but it doesn't seem like Ryan is even looking Pittman's way that often, nor are they scheming the ball to their top receiver. Perhaps last night was due to Surtain et al scheming him out without a running game, but still. To his credit, Pierce is elevating his game as a rookie, but that's at the expense of Pittman not really helping him. Time will tell.
That was the dream game I envisioned from Pittman in ppr, half ppr leagues. Ryan just force feeding him targets.Pittman must have been reading the forum here. Balling today.
Aside from the fact that he seemed to be the only colt not to get in the end zone, I agree. That was the dream game I envisioned from Pittman in ppr, half ppr leagues. Ryan just force feeding him targets.Pittman must have been reading the forum here. Balling today.
For sure, but unfortunately Ryan won’t be throwing the ball 58 times again. That was the dream game I envisioned from Pittman in ppr, half ppr leagues. Ryan just force feeding him targets.Pittman must have been reading the forum here. Balling today.

I would think about it if you can get some serious value. When Taylor returns, have to think they’ll be a lot more balanced. You think it might be a pivotal sell high moment? Michael Pittman caught 13-of-16 targets for 134 yards in the Colts' Week 6 win against the Jaguars.
Pittman was a verifiable target hog from start to finish. He converted a number of critical third downs as Matt Ryan keyed in on his top pass catcher time and again. Pittman's 27.5 percent target share came on a day when Ryan threw 58 passes against a middling Jaguars secondary. Pittman isn't seeing downfield looks -- those mostly belong to Alec Pierce -- but it doesn't matter much in a Colts offense predicated on quick throws to underneath and intermediate targets. Pittman has and will continue to be a superior fantasy option in PPR leagues compared to standard and half-PPR formats. Pittman will be a WR2 play in Week 7 against the Giants' beatable secondary.

Figured that - that’s what my comments were geared towards. For the record, I’m talking about redraft sell, not dynasty.
Yep someone else brought up his age though so wanted to be clear. Are you looking to move him in redraft? What do you think is a viable target for him?Figured that - that’s what my comments were geared towards.
Yeah that was me, my bad. I give so very little thought to redraft trading. It doesn't exist in >90% of my leagues and the couple where it does, it's almost impossible to get deals made with people.Yep someone else brought up his age though so wanted to be clear. Are you looking to move him in redraft? What do you think is a viable target for him?Figured that - that’s what my comments were geared towards.
In light of Robinson turning into a bit of a pumpkin & ETN drawing the start (and looking fantastic) I’m feeling a little better about my Pittman for ETN deal.but if could get an impact TE or RB and had stud WRs to spare (I might). Nothing harder than buying an impact RB but Pittman could/should probably do it.
I only play keeper, so unfortunately I don't have a good sense of redraft value.Yep someone else brought up his age though so wanted to be clear. Are you looking to move him in redraft? What do you think is a viable target for him?Figured that - that’s what my comments were geared towards.
I've actually managed several redraft deals - my league is pretty peppy that way.I only play keeper, so unfortunately I don't have a good sense of redraft value.Yep someone else brought up his age though so wanted to be clear. Michael Pittman caught 6-of-9 targets for 58 yards in the Colts' Week 7 loss to the Titans.
Pittman's day ended with a lost fumble that iced the game. He secured a reception across the middle of the field but coughed up the ball as he was being taken to the ground. His nine targets were only good for a 20 percent target share. Parris Campbell, who saw 11 targets last week, paced the Colts with 12 looks versus the Titans. The increased competition for targets combined with Indy's struggles on offense keeps Pittman out of the WR1 discussion for his Week 8 matchup with the Commanders.

Henderson and Stevenson? No way I would make those moves. ETN or Mixon sounds fair. I get the warts in Indy but Pittman is still is averaging 7/79. TD number has been disappointing but TDs are also a bit random. No reason Pittman and Ryan can't score TDs. Also the schedule is favorable coming up. In PPR, I think Pittman is firmly is a Tier 2 WR1.For Pittman , I'd expect something like a Stevenson ( Stevenson owner selling high, tbh), an ETN, maybe a sell-high on a healthy Henderson - something in the RB2 range? Maybe you could get a Mixon at best, but I'm skeptical. He's a tricky redraft sell, because there is no future with another QB upside to look to - just the inconsistent Matty Ice year we have. And with JT's return, it should mean they get back to more of a dominant ground game, so managers might be hesitant to buy into a Pittman break-out since he's been up & down.
Probably no better than with Ryan and maybe worse. One thing that favors Ehlinger, is that he is more mobile and might be able to find Pittman on some broken plays. I believe the Colts are mailing it in, but I hope not.Whats the outlook now with Ehlinger at QB?
Wish I hadn’t heard thatPitiful effort on what should have been a walk in TD, and then the drop for 20+ yd gain today towards the end.
Oh dang that sucks to hear but at least there is opportunity for him to make plays. He normally should make them. Who are you starting over him? He’s still getting a lot of targets for PPR.Pitiful effort on what should have been a walk in TD, and then the drop for 20+ yd gain today towards the end.
It's time he joins Kirk on the bench instead of flex.

Michael Pittman caught 3-of-6 targets for 22 yards in the Colts' Week 9 loss to the Patriots.
Pittman led the Colts in targets but one reception from Alec Pierce was enough to best Pittman's paltry 22 yards. Pittman's fantasy value is being obliterated by a Colts offense that has been putrid with Sam Ehlinger at quarterback. Ehlinger took nine sacks in this game and the Colts were completely unable to generate offensive success. Pittman will be a FLEX option against the Raiders in Week 10.

Michael Pittman caught 7-of-9 targets for 53 yards in the Colts' Week 10 win over the Raiders.
Pittman also fumbled but managed to recover it. The good news is Matt Ryan was back under center, at least giving Pittman the opportunity to stack some cheap receptions. The bad news is, he failed to clear 60 yards or average more than 10 yards per catch for the fourth straight game. Pittman continues to maintain a WR3 floor but isn't displaying anything in the way of ceiling. The task won't get any easier in Week 11 against Darius Slay's Eagles.

Michael Pittman caught 7-of-11 targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' Week 12 loss to the Steelers.
Pittman came alive in the second half, scoring his touchdown just before the start of the fourth quarter. He followed that up with three catches for 35 yards on the Colts' final drive of the game. Pittman picked up 28 of those yards on the first play of the drive. Though the Colts' offense has still been toothless with Matt Ryan back at the helm, Pittman has weathered the storm with at least seven catches and 50 yards in all three games. He can safely be started as a WR2 for the Colts' Week 13 matchup with the Cowboys.

Was he ever supposed to be a standard guy? My thought was that a large part of his scoring would be due to his high catch floor.Ryan can't throw deep, so Pittman is a PPR #2 or flex play only. He's been on my bench for weeks in standard leagues.
Finished top 16 in standard scoring last season, and was a consistent producer up to about week 10. There was hope he could be better this year with Wentz gone, but Ryan is not a step up for him at all. His value remains about the same for half and full PPR, but he's dropped out of top 25 for standard. Was he ever supposed to be a standard guy? Michael Pittman caught 10-of-14 targets for 60 yards in the Colts' Week 15 loss to the Vikings.
Pittman had over half of Matt Ryan's completions and nearly half of his yards. The Colts built up a first-half lead and attempted just 33 passes despite going to overtime. The 10 catches are the most for Pittman since Week 6. Even if the Colts bench Matt Ryan for Sam Ehlinger in Week 16, Pittman will remain in the WR2 ranks.
