WR Michael Wilson, ARZ (2 Viewers)

This is interesting. This is paraphrased but nearly direct "The best game by a Cardinals' receiver since DeAndre Hopkins" - Matt Harmon

Oh crap. I subscribe there. That might be paywalled.

With Harrison back at practice, wondering what people think about Wilson being a safe start this week. Games this week being spread out is less than ideal, in terms of making lineup decisions.

Under normal circumstances, Wilson would be considered a pretty safe start, as he’s proven himself to be a competent WR1 and now he’ll have a more significant threat to attract coverage. However, this is AZ and we’ve seen their inability to recognize Wilson’s capability as well as their comfort level with utilizing a substandard passing offense.

Given that, I’d say it’s nothing better than a roll of the dice - and I’m a Wilson advocate and owner who is pretty much forced to start him.

If Harrison plays I think Wilson is still a safe start for one week. I think it will take a week to get back to full snaps for him. Next week will be interesting.

I think he has at least flex appeal for the rest of the season. Just don't think we will see too many more 15 + targets and 10 + catch efforts if Harrison and Benson come back.

Yeah I have both.
I went back and forth and ended up playing Wilson.
I thought Wilson might have stayed somewhat hot and Harrison might have been eased back in.
Not that either of them lit the world on fire today but looks like Wilson is now going to be dropped off my roster.

What a shame.
Yeah I know, he got totally phased out. Brisset’s #1 read gets peppered with targets. MHJ was hobbled a bit so we’ll see.

Hoping Harrison hobbled A LOT.
I need my Wilson back.

Kinda feels like WiiiiiiilSooooon, like when it floated away from Tom Hanks in Cast Away. Need to have him back!
You’re asking for bad karma by posting that publicly. Don’t cry in here next week when your fantasy team goes to hell.

Wilson is a good handcuff at least

The Cardinals are getting a new qb next year. If they can draft the next Stroud, Daniels or they can find the next Daniel Jones, or Sam Darnold revival then we can talk about the Cardinals having three fantasy viable pass catchers.

Wait a second here, MHJ left the game and did not return after sustaining a heel injury...
Through first 3 quarters:

Marvin Harrison Jr.: 7 targets, 6 catches for 69 yards
Michael Wilson: 3 targets, 2 catches for 26 yards

4th quarter (with MHJ removed from the game for a heel injury)

Michael Wilson: 4 targets, 1 catch for 10 yards

Didn't move the needle statistically but Wilson did lead in targets in the 4th, ahead of McBride and Carter who had 3 each. Of course McBride had the best line that quarter (3/41/1)

If MHJ misses more time then Wilson is back in the circle of trust for me, if he isn't then he's a bench

I was not paying close attention to this game and missed this but are you two sure he did not come back?

I did a Twitter/X search of people I follow and got two bits of info:

#AZCardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) technically questionable but he played after first going to sideline.

2.

Pro football doc put out about an hour long video discussing some injuries and I did not want to listen to all of it so I asked Grok for a recap of what he said about Marvin and this is what it spit back at me:

In the Week 13 recap, Dr. Chao analyzed Marvin Harrison Jr.'s heel injury (possible contusion or plantar fascia issue) from his return game post-appendectomy. He noted Harrison added gel inserts to his shoes for relief, performed better than expected with early targets, and no specific injury play was identified. For Week 14, he's projected closer to 100% from the appendectomy, with no indication he'll miss time due to the heel.

He definitely left the game and did not return due to a heel issue

I didnt watch the game just going off of what his BSPN page says.

Thanks, I just looked all of this up and he absolutely returned after the first report of his heel injury and then later left again in the 4th quarter.

Pro Football Doc sure thinks it's nothing and expects him to not only be good to go next week but better off another week from the appendectomy.

All I got left to add, and I think I've said this before, but even if they keep losing all these past few weeks have done is highlight to me how god awful Kyler Murray must be and how much better Wilson and Marvin are then what they've both looked like with Kyler as their QB. Even McBride had another level.

Rams will be focusing mostly on McBride n Harrison,it should leave Wilson open .

It's the kind of game that favors Wilson imo.

Plus Cardinals should be trailing n throwing alot.

Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in.

Harrison and Dortch DNP today.

Can't run on the Rams but they can be thrown on.

Michael Wilson caught 11-of-16 targets  for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals’ Week 14 loss against the Rams.

With Marvin Harrison, Jr. sidelined with a heel injury, Wilson resumed his role as dominant WR1, easily leading the Cardinals in receiving yards, targets, receptions, and air yards. It was his third game of more than 100 receiving yards over the team’s past four games and the first time he’s scored a touchdown since Week 2 against the Panthers. Wilson got open time and again on the boundary and over the middle of the field. Averaging 12 air yards per target, Wilson had an astounding nine first down receptions against LA. The hope for now (among Wilson fantasy managers) is that the Cardinals realize Wilson is the team’s best wideout even with MHJ is on the field. If Harrison returns to action in Week 15 against the Texans, Wilson would be a WR3 with upside. If MHJ is out, Wilson will be a top-12 option.

Can’t believe the cardinals are incapable of putting Wilson as a top two read even with Harrison. Cards are just stuck with the sunk cost

Yeah, that's the problem. The Cards put the investment into MHJ. It might pay off eventually and, since they're out of contention I imagine when he comes back they'll plug on trying to develop MHJ into what they hope he can be rather that put the time into the player who is starting to look like he has an ARSB sized chip on his shoulder.

I don't think this is going away unless it's an ownership because if you're an owner and you're paying attention—and you've ever meddled in football affairs even just once, then this should impel you to maybe make that call and tell the GM that every job in this organization is earned by the performance of the players on the field and not for any other reason *pause* and that means every job, you dig?

He's been a savior. I wonder if it's a setup to crush his owners when Harrison is back and Wilson gives you 2 for 17 in your playoff elimination game.
