WR Nico Collins, HOU (5 Viewers)

The WR1 for CJ Stroud for next few years.

How many WRs do I take over Nico in dynasty? Not a ton.

Just need him to re-sign in HOU.
I like Collins and he may be the #1 but not sure he will be elite. Stroud throws for almost 500 yards and Dell, Noah Brown and Shultz had huge games. Collins got a TD but only 5 targets with 3 catches for 54 yards. This concerned me. Only 3 games with 9 or more targets this year. All the other games have been 6 or less.

Houston has been trying to establish the run with no success so maybe they unleash Stroud the rest of the season. Hope so. They lost to Carolina only because the coaching staff played not to lose that game.

On pace for 72-1,260 and 8 TDs
For a guy I managed to secure off waivers right before the season started, to be anything more than overjoyed would be naive

People are going to sour grape Nico in his breakout Year 3?
The guy is HUGE and when he gets a head of steam he is very difficult to get on the ground.
Incredible find this year in redraft.

Too many weapons in Houston for them to feature him? He seems to disappear for portions of the game.

Here is what my concern is with Collins (as far as how high the ceiling is which is what the discussion is because we all agree he is legit)...there are not too many weapons right now...I love Dell but he is also a rookie (and a different type of WR from Collins) and the other WRs are a solid Robert Woods and a guy like Noah Brown who is in his 6th year and while he seems to be improving he has never put up legit #'s and is not someone that should have any effect on a stud...Shultz is also a good TE but definitely not elite...they also don't use their RBs too much in the passing game...right now Collins is probably in the best spot to hog targets that he may ever be in...in today's game good teams keep adding weapons (especially for a young, developing QB like Stroud) so who knows who they may add the next few years...now that is a reality for almost every WR on every team but right now I would really like to see Collins take on the alpha role more...and there is plenty time left in the season to do so.

Nobody is "sour graping" him. Just pointing out he may not be the Alpha type receiver who ends up being elite. Of course people are happy with him as a 9th/10th round pick in redraft or if they picked him up as a free agent in dynasty last year.

Good news is Houston has lots of available cap space to resign him. Bad news is they have lots of available cap space and could sign or draft someone else. Nico is a holdover through two prior coaching regimes (but the same GM) so who knows how the current coaching staff truly feels about him? Houston also seems content to spread the ball like crazy, they may not necessarily want to spend big money on a WR extension. Look at the production they are getting out of inexpensive castoffs like Noah Brown for example.

But imagine bringing in a Tee Higgins in the offseason getting the main WR targets in this offense? Yowsa

They’d be wise to go after Higgins hard offseason hope they make that move 🙏🔥

Appears teams focusing on Collins. They’re leaving Tank and Brown and Schultz with so many opportunities. CJ and Tank appear super tight Stroud even told Texans to draft Tank.
It’s clear Stroud is making all his receivers better not a knock on them. This will only help getting free agents what stud WR wouldn’t have Texans high on their list? If he can make Noah Brown relevant just think what a legit WR1 could do? Very excited to see how this unfolds off season.

They need a lot and are getting good production with great production a week ago.
I think they'll simply fill other needs

Matt Harmon of Reception Perception has him as a very highly-rated dynasty receiver. I won't give out his rankings, but it's pretty high as far as things like that go. You could do worse than this guy on your team.

Love Nico - especially with Stroud's break out. However this is a crowded/talented WR group - with Woods coming back Im concerned Nico will put up the same numbers

Very interested in this narrative of Nico/Tank being more of a 1A/1B situation. Do we boost Tank to top 15/12 if Nico sits? I feel Tank is great and really was going to be seen as the undeniable best WR on team if he catches the 90 yd TD. However, I also worry about the step up in having a #1 corner on him and how that impacts this week.

Ultimately they both are consistent producers and have a high ceiling. So both win at end of the day.

(Rotowire) Nico Collins (calf) wasn't present for Friday's practice, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports

Shoot. I'm real thin at WR. Gonna have to start Douglas if Nico sits.

I would also pump the breaks on Tank if Nico is out. I think Nico draws coverage off of Tank, so not sure how well the smaller bodied Tank will do with Nico out.

He's currently got 100% success rate on corner and deep out routes this season. That's extremely impressive, and not a fluke. He carried a 60%+ success rate on them throughout college as well. I understand the trepidation with him getting more attention from the secondary with Nico out, but not so much that I wouldn't say any impact will probably be negated by the increased targets he'll likely see also because Nico is out. And it's not like we are talking about them playing against the Browns, Ravens or Chiefs. The Bengals passing defense is in the bottom 1/3rd of the league. I'm personally bumping Tank up with Nico out. I get those who would argue not to. What I wouldn't get is anyone claiming it'll actually hurt him. Unless the Texans line has a miserable day and Stroud doesn't have time to let the plays develop, Dell will be open.

Scott Fish Bowl--I have Nico and Higgins
Megalabowl--Chase and Nico

Dynasty league: Chase, Nico, Higgins, Devonta Smith

Brutal combination of injuries.

DeAndre Hopkins shared some pic of Dell's stats.
I meant to go look if they both play well the same day. I think it's one of the other but didn't look

I really like Tank but he is probably undersized to be a true WR1 consistently lining up against top corners without a guy like Nico on the other side. See Devonta Smith and AJ Brown. Tank is listed at 5'8' 165lbs and that seems about right. Maybe he is the next Steve Smith but Tank would need to bulk up a bit more. BTW, here is Smith next to Tank at the Carolina game for comparison (height not weight) https://twitter.com/i/status/1718661602767929697

Noah Brown is on the WWs in both of my leagues. May be worth snagging him.
I think Woods is the shark move....
But Noah is a hell'va more explosive right?
Agree on Noah for the slight edge but neither of these guys is probably the answer. Woods hasn't had a 100+ yd rec game since 2021. Over 27 games in a row under 100 yds. Only 5TDs in that span. That is the type of production decline you see towards the end of a career although in his case inconsistent QB play and injuries have to be factored in as well.

For Noah, last week was the first time he's ever had a 100+ yd rec game in his 6 year career. Although ironically the closest he ever came was against the Bengals last year, and he led Dallas in rec that game. Yes he is more explosive at this point but can he do it consistently?

Now watch both of them go off this week :P

What's the dynasty play with him?

Part of me thinks I need to sell him before he leaves the Texans and is trying to be the #1 for the Giants. Part of me thinks ride out the season and sell him with an 1,100/1200 yard season under his belt.

I need a QB after Burrow's injury, and considering going after Kyler and Lawrence. But is that selling too low?

On my list of "pretty much" untouchable.

If I'm looking for Stroud's #1 guy foot the next 7 years, he's the best bet.

He's signed through 2024.

the Tank Dell thread is elsewhere.... but nico makes a lovely 1B

Don't think you're watching the Texans very much. Nico has been the first option when he's not hurt. Also see Brown's production the past two weeks. Dell is a great #2 tho

it's a revolving door of wr1 on the texans, thats not a bad thing.dell one week, nico the next. it's ok there's enough pasta to go around. both have significant value

Rookie szn. As time passes, Dell will be the guy seeing 8-10 targets a game, consistently.

He just gets open. He'll be a safety valve.

I’m concerned about him this week vs. Surtain. Denver tends to have him shadow opponents WR1’s and even though Houston spreads it around, if he isolates in Collins it’s likely to mean a bad day. Considering starting Rashee Rice instead. Just something to consider for those of you with Collins.

Feels like Tank Dell has become the WR1 for HOU, no?

Schultz is out today so maybe more targets going to the WRs.

FWIW - I am playing Collins over Garret Wilson, but it's close. If NYJ had Joe Flacco, Garret would be locked in over Collins... man, that's weird to say. :P
