Miami Herald's Barry Jackson and Adam Beasley report the Dolphins are "cautiously optimistic" Preston Williams (ACL) will be ready for Week 1.
Williams was cleared for football activities earlier in August, but the team is reportedly taking Williams along slowly, likely because there's no reason to rush him back with the Dolphins still building for the future. In fact, their report says, "There’s no assurance he will be deemed ready for Week 1." Consider Williams questionable for the first few weeks of the season, but when healthy, Williams is an intriguing fantasy asset. He led the Dolphins in targets and receiving before his torn ACL ended his rookie season last year.

Preston Williams (knee) practiced with "no restrictions" on Monday.
The Miami Herald reported two weeks ago the Dolphins were "cautiously optimistic" Williams would be ready for Week 1, but it would now be an upset if he's not ready to go. With Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson opted out of 2020, Williams is looking like a screaming bargain as the current WR56 by ADP.

Really hope this guy is healthy. He’s so much fun to root for.Time to get back on the Unicorn and ride. LETS GOOO!!!!! He's been impressive when playing.
Flores said Preston Williams is on a "load management/scheduled days off" plan. Still some caution here but if he's good to go, it doesn't sound like a slow start to the season like I imagined.
Williams looks as good as Miami could have possibly hoped in his return from a torn ACL. Williams is dynamic, athletic, quick and agile, bringing all the skills he did as a rookie undrafted performer. Williams has caught long balls and he has looked good on slants and he can compete for 50-50 balls just like Parker. Williams has shown he still has good footwork along the sidelines and the back of the end zone. There is no reason to think that Williams and Parker, if each stays healthy, will not be a dynamic duo this season. The Dolphins have worked with Williams to make sure he feels comfortable in a first-year offense. And they also have stressed how valuable he can be at drawing attention even on plays not designed to go his way.
The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley has been impressed with Preston Williams' performance through the first six days of Dolphins practice open to the media.
"Now he’s back," Beasley said, referencing Williams' recovery from his torn ACL. "And based on the six training camp practices open to reporters, potentially better than ever." We received limited Williams updates throughout the coronavirus-erased offseason, but his rehab went off without a hitch and the same has been true of his training camp return. The possessor of rare ability as a size/speed wideout, Williams is a tantalizing bargain at this current ADP of WR55. The Dolphins have targets for days after Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns opted out of the season.

Drops sound like more the story and looked problematic in highlights I've seen, but let's hope he gets that corrected.Faust said:

Long shot for sure but he was out targeting/producing Parker at the time. If he got a little hot at the end of the year with 85-1200-10 he would have been in consideration. This was never going to happen, who's the last WR to be ROY?
LOL, tha'ts more than "a little hot", that's arguably the 3rd best rookie WR performance in history.Long shot for sure but he was out targeting/producing Parker at the time. If he got a little hot at the end of the year with 85-1200-10 he would have been in consideration.

I would think they'll go for Parker as the known commodity until that burns them. Obviously it depends on the team, as some DBs don't change sides, but MIA is going to be a challenge for defensive backs so long as both of those guys are healthy - unenviable task covering them both.I'm curious to see if opposite #1 corners favor Parker or Unicorn this year.
Yeah the QB situation isn't great. Fitz can really light it up though. I'd easily start either of them if he is playing but Tua will have to show me first.I would think they'll go for Parker as the known commodity until that burns them. My concerns from a FF standpoint are more rooted in the MIA QB situation. If Fitzmagic gets sat for Tua, how does that effect both of these guys?
I am unconcerned about Fitzmagic doing his thing. I am greatly concerned if the Dolphins are 2-4 and put in Tua, just for the unknown.Yeah the QB situation isn't great. Fitz can really light it up though. I'd easily start either of them if he is playing but Tua will have to show me first.
Unfortunately, it’s almost guaranteed that they will lose many games early and then start Tua (for good) sometime between weeks 5 and 7.I am unconcerned about Fitzmagic doing his thing. I am greatly concerned if the Dolphins are 2-4 and put in Tua, just for the unknown.
Has me dropping both receivers down a little in my rankings.Unfortunately, it’s almost guaranteed that they will lose many games early and then start Tua (for good) sometime between weeks 5 and 7.
I dunno....Fitzmagic is fearless to the point of reckless. He's like late-career Brett Favre or current career Jaemis Winston with even worse job security. He forces it into coverage with the confidence of a septuagenarian at Walmart wearing lime green lulu lemon yoga pants & purple crocks. He approaches every throw like McLovin buying alcohol with his fake ID. He has the amount of confidence ordinarily associated with a coked-out day trader in the 90sI think the Miami offense will improve after the torch inevitably gets passed to Tua.
I have no concerns about healthy Tua being a productive pro. The only question is just that, health. And if he gets knocked down for the count again? Re-enter, Fitzmagic. Who I have no confidence in on a week-to-week basis and I think there's some recency bias baked into his expectations. His last few teams have been pretty bad and lacked running games, so I think this newfound dgaf is more out of necessity than him transforming into Jameis.I dunno....Fitzmagic is fearless to the point of reckless. Rookies aren't usually that bold. And it's been a long layoff without a pre-season for Tua. We're at the point where no one knows if he's going to be good enough to learn how to spell his last name. I'm just sayin.
It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma drizzled with conundrum.
Ok, I may have gotten a little carried away there, I admit. His last few teams have been pretty bad and lacked running games, so I think this newfound dgaf is more out of necessity than him transforming into Jameis.
From what little we've seen on twitter, he does look very poised and nothing like a typical rookie....I hope that's true for Preston's sake!Ok, I may have gotten a little carried away there, I admit.
i just wish we had a preseason to see how Tua looked.
Parker made Gilmore look pretty mortal....I look for BB to double Parker and put Gilmore on the Unicorn.I would think they'll go for Parker as the known commodity until that burns them. Seriously, who knows in a situation like this with two young, developing talents... But, in the small sample we have of both of them playing together - in Unicorn's first 8 games as an NFL player and the 1st half of Parker's breakout year - Unicorn was the (slightly) better fantasy performer. Not enough data points to draw conclusions of any sort, but it's at least an indication that Williams could be the higher valued asset going forward, within reasonable probability.PPR Dynasty...curious does anyone value Preston Williams more than Devante Parker? I had a trade where I owned both and the other owner was willing to take either. I gave PW but was thinking in my heart of hearts that I wanted to keep Preston.
Yes I do value him more than Parker but then again I've been higher than everyone on him for a while now. Mostly due to perceived value. Parker, although productive, will always have a surpressed value because it basically took him 5 years to breakout. I might be on an island valuing him more but the upside is dynasty WR1 with the same, if not better, floor as Parker.Phantom Knight said:PPR Dynasty...curious does anyone value Preston Williams more than Devante Parker?
