These one-off, point-in-time speeds are why many players drop in the drafts, as scouts are wedded to the metrics. Clearly Quentin didn't drop because the Chargers scouts saw considerable potential in him, but happens all too much.

Agreed. This is why he is a great WR #4. If either one of those injury prone WR's gets hurt that changes to 8-10 targets, with big play potential, and red zone targets. Herbert has already shown great chemistry with him in camp. I hope Allen/Williams stay healthy atleast until the season starts because if not his value will sky rocket, but right now his value is awesome

Fair points - in my keeper league, I'm all over this guy as a stash away. I can easily see Johnson being the top dog next year in a prolific passing offense.

FWIW, Johnston had 4 drops in the last practice. Pretty sure that was noted as a negative in his draft profile. If he doesn't correct that, he will absolutely lose snaps.

Johnston was a distant afterthought in the LA offense as OC Kellen Moore called a run-heavy attack against a vulnerable Dolphins front seven. Johnston had one more target than Josh Palmer, so he has that going for him, which is nice. The rookie won’t be a reliable fantasy option until he establishes himself as an every-snap player in the Chargers offense.

Yes, Joshua Palmer is expected to be the big factor here, as he was last year when Williams was out.

The Athletic’s Daniel Popper said Mike Williams’ season-ending ACL injury will force the Chargers to use Quentin Johnston as a downfield pass catcher.

The Chargers, according to Popper, “wanted to bring [Johnston] along slowly.” “That plan is out the window” after the team lost Williams to an ACL injury he sustained in Week 3 against the Vikings. Popper expects Johnston to inherit the deep 50-50 balls Williams had seen in the LA offense. One of Johnston's weaknesses was 50/50 balls.

Despite how he appears, his talent is taking shorter passes and turning them into something more with his RAC ability. Deciding he can suddenly do something he was rubbish at 3-4 months ago because the guy who does it in his current team is injured, simply because he's a similar build to him, doesn't really track for me.
