WR Rashee Rice, KC (1 Viewer)

(Rotowire) Rice is not expected to begin the regular season on the commissioner's exempt list, and the NFL will instead make a decision on his status after the legal process has concluded, Mark Maske of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Rice seems unlikely to entirely avoid a suspension for his off-field problems this offseason, but it doesn't appear that the league will intervene until the legal situation pays itself out, which could occur later this year or potentially even be delayed until 2025. He faces eight felony charges in connection with a high-speed, multi-car hit-and-run, including charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. As long as Rice is left eligible to take the field, he'll be locked in as a top target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and be in prime position to build off his highly successful rookie season, but at some point it seems all but guaranteed he'll face a multi-game suspension. The Chiefs brought in wideouts Marquise Brown (shoulder) and Xavier Worthy to join Rice and TE Travis Kelce atop the receiving corps, but neither seem especially likely to intrude on Rice's workload, as he primarily operates from the slot and on short routes.

why is that whenever a team wins a lot and has a lot of success......fans always think the commish and NFL offices have a #### on for them......sometimes the teams are just plain good from top to bottom (front office, etc.) and have exciting/marketable players......it has basically gone from the Pats to the Chiefs.....never hear about bon### for any of the other teams.....hmmmmmm

Actually, fans don't always think that. Just in cases where it is blatantly obvious like it is with the Chiefs currently

the NFL has helped the Chiefs win so many games that they don't even try to hide it anymore.
The NFL shows favoritism to the teams that make them money the same way Dana White shows favoritism to the fighters that makes him money.

KC couldn't even beat the Zach Wilson Jets last yr if it wasn't for the NFL Refs
there was so many bad calls towards the Jets and then the KC Player removing his helmet which is a penality BTW... but nope, the ref kindly reminded him to put it back on

AFC Championship game this year: Ravens 8 penalties for 95 yards. Chiefs 3 penalties for 30 yards. NO PI against LIkely. Taunting against Flowers which was a joke call in an important game

Super Bowl this year: ZERO offensive holding penalties AGAIN against the team with the most holding penalties during the season. Plenty of holds though

2023 Super Bowl (2022 season): Lame defensive holding penalty that allows Chiefs to run out the clock instead of having to kick the FG and give Philly another possession

2020 Super Bowl (2019 season). Blatant offensive holding penalty against Bosa ignored on 3rd and 15 completion. Official literally staring at the hold but no flag. Zero offensive holding penalties even though they held Bosa the entire game. Kittle called for OPI on a big play right before the half which was total BS. Garoppolo takes two helmet to helmet shots to the head with no penalties.

That's just off the top of my head. But I'm sure these were just fine calls or non calls in your opinion

I'm under the assumption he will play the entire season. Do we think Rice will end year as a top 20 fantasy wr? Top 15?
I think it's a guarantee at this point. Lawyers will find away to hold up a trail for another 9 months; reminder this is 8 felonies! But its amazing what money can buy. Then most likely will plea deal his way out of any real trouble.

taking any KC skill position player other than Kelce with a high-mid pick always seems risky. every year we think we found the guy, every year its a disappointment.

It was apparent a while ago that this was most likely going to be a nothingburger this year. NFL has a precedent of letting this stuff get sorted legally.

If people avoided because of the off field stuff, they just didn't look into it, and that's on them.

And also, this is a car thing. Not a punching a baby mama thing, or a caught on video doing blow thing, or a bunch of other things that get people heated. People are not upset this guy is not suspended.

Waiting until the legal process takes place is optimal for a number of reasons.. not the least of which is that outrage dies down a year later.

No, it's not just a "car thing". It would have been a "car thing" if he had stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police. He didn't for reasons that are obvious to everyone but the "you can't prove he was drunk/high" crowd. Can't be proved because he walked away and hid until everything was out of his system. If he wasn't drunk/high, there was no reason to not cooperate. Entire incident on video with no doubt who was at fault.

This is much worse than being caught on video doing blow, which is generally not harming innocent outsiders. I wouldn't give a rats *** about that. But he caused a major accident and literally walked away without checking on anyone and leaving two cars on the freeway. The fact that he got lucky as fock that nobody was seriously hurt or ended up dead is something I hope he is grateful for.

I'm just telling you how I think the general public reacts to these things.

The NFL feels less pressure on things like this, or Addison's car thing, than other things.

Is what you believe, or "know for sure", really even relevant?

this was already discussed for several pages earlier in the thread....at nauseum...everyone agrees what he did was terrible all the way around....and not a great look to leave, etc.....but unfortunately 100% the right decision....if he was under the influence and had something to hide....the same decision would be recommended for a normal citizen....we all want to pound our chest and say we wouldn't flee the scene "no matter what".....but if you know being under the influence could increase the charges...unfortunately it is the right call to leave so it can't be proven....I have said before I wish the Chiefs would have cut bait and just moved on, because I think the whole decison process from beginning to end really tells me all I need to know....I do hope he makes some changes and better decisions in the future....but this was really bad...

and I see the only examples of big Rog having a boner for the Chiefs is the ol' the "league tells the refs to favor the Chiefs" thing....I thought you would have something more compelling and blatantly obvious...this is so tired and worn out....almost as bad as the league tells the refs to intentionally screw the Raiders...

and I'll ask....just like I have before....

how exactly does that happen.....how is that message delivered to the refs....email....text...super secret envelopes with TOP SECRET written across it that is delivered to the refs before the season...?....secret meetings in an alley....?...and with probably about 130 refs in the league give or take....not once in the history of the NFL has anybody ever actually spilled the beans on this "the league told us to do this thing"....hmmmmm....you have no proof the refs are on the take....so please come up with something else since it is so blatantly obvious....please tell me you have more then the ol refs favor them because the league tells them too thing...

Take off your Homer glasses. Mahomes whines and the flags fly.

Not a Raider fan but the Tuck Rule game is evidence that the NFL screwed the Raiders over. No way in hell that’s called if the teams were reversed.

I took him at 3.11. Maybe early but I think he's gonna ball out
Nice pick … but also, you’re the reason I haven’t been able to get him in the 5th like I wanted lol.

Had a very nice draft plan laid out for myself. RB/WR rounds 1-3, grab Mahomes in the 4th and Rice in the 5th.

It’s people like YOU that ruined it for me!!

… nice pick mang.

Setting the legal issues aside, it will be interesting to see what KC does this year on offense .

The best thing about Rice isn’t that he’s a very talented WR, at least not conventionally. The role he played was very important for his team but didn’t require him to win in the way that most alpha WRs win.

Marquise and Xavier are both expected to take two high and push it for all it’s worth. So how are they lining up? Who are the designed touches going to? Is Kelce really taking a step back during the regular season?

They were a non great offense last year. They added receivers.

I hardly dare to bring it up but if I was the coach, it might occur to me that making a superstar out of a knuckle head may not be a super good idea. It’s easy to take a moral high ground but when you have a great team, sometimes you coalesce and become like a family where you have each other’s back regardless.

Flowers fumble at goal line....Jackson intercepted in end zone...nothing to do with it.....refs won the game for KC...

but back to Rice....Rice will work the part of the field that will be open with defenses trying not to let Worthy take the top off or Hollywood when he is back....and teams trying to cover Kelce....it's almost like Mahomes should be able to see if a big play is there almost every time knowing that Rice is available on an intermediate route when needed....easy pitch and catch...

And also, this is a car thing. Not a punching a baby mama thing, or a caught on video doing blow thing, or a bunch of other things that get people heated. People are not upset this guy is not suspended.

The fact that he got lucky as fock that nobody was seriously hurt or ended up dead is something I hope he is grateful for.
this was already discussed for several pages earlier in the thread....at nauseum...everyone agrees what he did was terrible all the way around....and not a great look to leave, etc.....but unfortunately 100% the right decision....if he was under the influence and had something to hide....the same decision would be recommended for a normal citizen....we all want to pound our chest and say we wouldn't flee the scene "no matter what".....but if you know being under the influence could increase the charges...unfortunately it is the right call to leave so it can't be proven....I have said before I wish the Chiefs would have cut bait and just moved on, because I think the whole decison process from beginning to end really tells me all I need to know....I do hope he makes some changes and better decisions in the future....but this was really bad...

and I see the only examples of big Rog having a boner for the Chiefs is the ol' the "league tells the refs to favor the Chiefs" thing....I thought you would have something more compelling and blatantly obvious...this is so tired and worn out....almost as bad as the league tells the refs to intentionally screw the Raiders...

and I'll ask....just like I have before....

how exactly does that happen.....how is that message delivered to the refs....email....text...super secret envelopes with TOP SECRET written across it that is delivered to the refs before the season...?....secret meetings in an alley....?...and with probably about 130 refs in the league give or take....not once in the history of the NFL has anybody ever actually spilled the beans on this "the league told us to do this thing"....hmmmmm....you have no proof the refs are on the take....so please come up with something else since it is so blatantly obvious....please tell me you have more then the ol refs favor them because the league tells them too thing...
Take off your Homer glasses. Mahomes whines and the flags fly.

Not a Raider fan but the Tuck Rule game is evidence that the NFL screwed the Raiders over. No way in hell that’s called if the teams were reversed.
soooooooo...I was assuming you had something besides Rog tells the refs to give the chiefs call.....cause you said it is blatantly obvious....so I thought you had more but you don't...you got nuthin else....like nothing....and please tell me in your imaginary world how this is communicated to the refs....
Where did you get those homer glasses? Most powerful I have ever seen 👓
my bad...you are right....I'm a homer and KC sucks and if it weren't for the refs they wouldn't have won any games recently....you got me....of course Rog and the boys are willing to take the chance of seeing the most popular and money making US sport ruined by trusting 120 + refs each year to cheat....and not a single one of them say anything about it.....duh....what was I thinking...

It takes a big man to admit you’re wrong. Hopefully you feel better about yourself now 🍻🍻🍻

Charles Goldman
#Chiefs HC Andy Reid on Rashee Rice's growth in Year 2: "I think there was a couple of things. The conditioning part of it and how fast you have to play every play. . . I though his feel for space was another. . . and his experience . . . he had a great feel for what the coaches and Patrick (Mahomes) are looking for."

Lol.... and you know, the other thing

I like that plan, but in my 6 point passing TD league, there is zero chance Mahomes makes it past the top 30 picks.

It was pick 36 where I got him, fyi. 10team 6pt TD.

He went 3.11 in some 6 point td leagues i've seen. I'd say mid 3rd is prob about normal with a bit of variance either way.

I think he was the 27th WR off the board in our FBG Home League. Twelve teams, single QB league (yes that's lame), he went 5.07

By me!!! Full context. At that point in the draft, I only had Metcalf at the wr position. I knew I was going wr. It was basically Amari, Pickens or Rice. Easy pick. Pick 54 for him seemed reasonable. I stand by the pick. Ha ha

In my home league Rice literally, not figuratively, went as the next WR after Amari, then Pickens. Still the #27 WR off the board to me. I "only" had CeeDee at that point.

IMO Rice represents the best potential #1 WR that you can get for WR3 value.

Jordan Foote
#Chiefs HC Andy Reid said he thinks Rashee Rice's conditioning and feel for space are the two things he improved the most on from year one to now.

Adam Koffler
Rashee Rice averaged 16.2 PPR PPG after the Bye Week last season (Ja’Marr Chase/Deebo Samuel range)

If you only look at the games he played more than 75% of the snaps after the Bye, he averaged 17.4 PPR PPG (Nico Collins/Puka Nacua range)

Rashee 🍚’s ceiling is being slept on

Alas, in my home league I had the 1.01 with 3RR (voted in this year, proposed by me  )

Had this been standard snake i’d have had 1, 24, 25, 48 & 49. I would have had a solid shot at Rice at 4.12

Instead I had 3.12 & 4.01, and took DKM/Nabers and had zero shot at Rice, who indeed went 4.10

Sigh

I’m not a big fan of DKM or Nabers. I may have taken Rice over both of them.
So, you DID have a shot at him.::

I don't like Nabers supporting cast but I sure like his talent. I can't imagine him not seeing 130+ targets, even low quality ones that's still a ton of volume. I think he can put together a Garrett Wilson/Jaylen Waddle type rookie season of 80-1,100-5 and perhaps a little more.

This, hopefully won't be his career year but it's lining up for him to open strong.

Agreed. I’m going for volume. KC is going to be a little tricky. Kelce is still Kelce. Worthy is a talent, and Hollywood is going to be involved.

Mahomes is the only truly predictable volume on that team.

Metcalf looks like a man possessed this preseason, and I like his new OC. This could be the year. The ability is there.

Like I said, I’d love to have Rice. Huge weekly upside. It’s all personal preference.
