WR Rashee Rice, KC (1 Viewer)

I also respect Waldman but he could also be worried about possible suspension and might not want the risk involved.
He seems pretty on top of stuff like that - I have a hard time believing that’s the case h less that’s an older ranking when there was still ambiguity.

Can we have a link to these rankings? I saw a ranking provided by Waldman with a footnote stating he would likely be serving a 4-6 game suspension.

Waldman has him at WR47
Hicks has him at WR54

I saw that - eye opening. I respect Waldman’s opinions a lot.

Ya, very strange, he wrote on August 30th that Rice will serve a suspension this year at some point. Very weird.

Matt Waldman on Aug 30

Rice has been accountable to the public about the car accident and he's performing well in OTAs. He'll serve a suspension during the year, which could cost him 4-6 games. It may be worth drafting him earlier because the weeks he will be available could help your team.

I listen weekly to Waldman's podcast and really like his content and takes. I didn't realize he was that low on Rice and that he expected a suspension. Drew Davenport seems to think things will be pushed back but again I haven't listened to Drew's latest take.

Seems to be a few differing opinions here. Not sure where to go with it.

I know this says August 30th but the fact that it references OTAs and not TC makes me think this is a late June, early July update.

Yeah it sounds like what the discussion was early summer.

Don't let Waldman's excellence in rookie scouting and top tier content production and excellent writing cloud your judgement. Henry is probably the best at year long projections. I've noticed many of the other projectors projections have been trending towards what henry was already publishing. Waldman's track record the last couple of year's on rankings has been spotty at best. Also not a fan of putting a player low on the ranking with a caveat that I'll likely move him up later. Same thing with some staff and weekly projections. All of these guys have their primary areas of expertise.

FWIW I took Rice as my WR2 at 7.06 in a 10 team draft as the 22nd WR off the board, Nabers went 8.05 as the 25th WR off the board.

I opted for Rice in that situation because I had CeeDee as my only WR and I am very worried about a slow start. Rice seems like he is going to be much less volatile than Nabers and I didn't want to risk low scores from both my starting WRs CeeDee and Nabers adjust to the game (for different reasons) in the early weeks of the season.

As a hypothetical: If I had drafted, for example, ARSB as my WR1 and was looking at Rice & Nabers as my WR2 I could definitely see taking Nabers because I would be confident in high end production from my #1 WR.
Sure reads like your trying to convince yourself that taking Rice over Nabers was the good choice. Ha ha. You play to the win the games. You win the games by taking who you think is the best player. 😄
Well, I did land Nabers in our league so, watch out.

You did?
At pick 24 nonetheless. And I got Rice. And we play each other week 1. This is like a movie transcript.
I play LawFitz this week. That's why he voodooed Nabers off my team and no one remembers.

Is it Bass N Brew or Bass and Brews? Ha

The avatar isn't right but close.

Still pretty sickening this dude isn't sitting for least a game for his offseason mess.
We all know he's guilty but due process is very important and it moves slowly for everyone so long as when you are being questioned by the police you remember three very important words: #### you, Lawyer!

He is very lucky no one died in the 6 vehicle accident considering the speeds and the crash. There are still a lot of stuff that needs to be sorted out with the victims who were injured.

NFL wants to do their due diligence before issuing their suspension. Unfortunately with this multiple vehicle accident there is a lot to go through. NFL will see what the courts decide as well and the severity of it.

Yup. It will be interesting to see if Rice avoids jail time. I believe there were something like six felony counts on the table. Street racing is no joke.

Officially off the rails. I just did my last NFFC draft (ok, I know I said my last one was my last one but wanted to do one more)

Rashee Rice, pick 3.04 in 3RR, so 27th overall player.

I mean, he was going near the 2/3 turn before the accident. So in theory, shouldn't he be going there now that suspension this year looks unlikely?

I drafted him Monday night in a 12 team redraft non-PPR. Took him 5.06.
He went 5.11 in our 14 teamer last week. I was drafting 12th (in person draft) and almost took him 4.03 but decided to roll with Metcalf. Figured no way in hell he would come back to me. About the middle of the 5th, I wanted to kick my own asssssss that as commish I didn't allow trading during our draft so that I could make a deal and grab him. So close, but goes the pick right before me :wall:

Rashee Rice is going to thump defenses on slants and shallow crossing routes all season with the space provided by more speed in the WR room.

His slant route rate from his rookie season was the highest I’ve ever charted for a WR in #ReceptionPerception history (2014-2024)

Rica had an amazing fame tonight, but WR “Player of the Game” was Worthy- who did have 2 TDs.

But Rice is PR poison for the NFL. Gonna be an unheralded breakout season for him as the NFL turns the camera in any other direction and holds its collective nose at the stink of controversy.

@NextGenStats
Rashee Rice totaled 7 receptions for 103 yards on 9 targets with 78 yards coming after the catch.

🔹 In-Breaking Routes: 4 receptions, 75 yards
🔹 Short of Sticks: 6 receptions, 70 yards
🔹 vs. Off-Coverage: 4 receptions, 60 yards

Don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but this guy playing with 8 felonies hanging on his head is everything wrong with sports, hero worshipping athletes, and society as a whole.

I think that sort of thing might have mattered long ago. We have a man running for president with felonies. The country is changing.
I'd say take it to another forum, but the Politics Forum was closed 2 years ago for good reason and FBG has been a better place since for it. All that remains is this on the front page "Keep all political talk out of the Free For All Forum. Posting anything remotely political there will result in a suspension." I'm 99.9% sure that goes for Shark Pool as well. Go to Reddit if you can't control yourself.

I hated how the announcers made it sound like it was just a simple felony he has to deal with... I mean this time next yr he will be a convicted felony.
And the interview at the end of the game... gross

I watch football to watch elite athletes play football. I've never really taken to much stock into how they parent or are they kind to pets. Maybe that lacks depth of character for some. All good. Rice cemented himself as the alpha on a decent wr group with a hall of fame qb in his prime. Statistically speaking it's gonna be a huge year for Rice. Imo

Well, legal issues aside, it seems Worthy is legit and only makes sense that will open up things even more for Rice underneath. It seems like he will be in for a great season if last night will be standard for him, and I'm sure plenty of games he will be adding a score or two on top of those numbers. Hard not to think he outproduces ADP after week 1. It is a pretty perfect example of our seemingly annual discussion on drafting players to win vs. players you enjoy rooting for. Don't think there's a universal right answer on this one; probably best left at "to each, their own".

He did a monumentally stupid thing no doubt. But it's a good thing that the criminal justice system doesn't prevent people from earning a living while they're waiting for the dispensation of their case.

From the NFL's perspective he can get paid to play or he can get paid not to play but he's still going to get paid and that's the right thing as well.

Dude, I know of a ton of people who lost their jobs waiting for trial.. Must suck to be a normal average American who gets in trouble compared to a known athlete who makes millions.

But keep going about how fair this is.

Good for anyone that sticks that closely to their morals/principles/etc.

I don't view fantasy football as a reflection of my morals. I'll keep picking the best players trying to win.
