He did a monumentally stupid thing no doubt. But it's a good thing that the criminal justice system doesn't prevent people from earning a living while they're waiting for the dispensation of their case.

From the NFL's perspective he can get paid to play or he can get paid not to play but he's still going to get paid and that's the right thing as well.

Dude, I know of a ton of people who lost their jobs waiting for trial.. Must suck to be a normal average American who gets in trouble compared to a known athlete who makes millions.

But keep going about how fair this is.

Many of those people who lost their jobs probably did receive compensation depending on the terms of their contracts.

And there are a ton of people who have the ability to sue their employers for wrongful termination and receive compensation.

It does suck to be a normal average American in a situation like this mostly because they don't have the type of contracts that make it difficult to simply fire people for being idiots.

Most Americans also don't have strong unions to back them up and protect them in situations like this.

Complain all you want, the system sucks. As the saying goes, it's the worst possible system except for every other system out there.

You would rather live in this system than any of its alternatives.

As for his play on the field, he looks to be the first read most plays. He's going to get a ton of targets this year.

No, I want to live with a system that is fair.. Rice didn't just get caught speeding, with drugs, he is charged with 8 felonies. He was street racing and caused an accident that will change the lives of less fortunate people. I am at the point where I honestly believe he will not sit one game at any time for what he did. Now go out and get 8 felonies and see how it goes for you.

I am aware of his circumstances.

Due process is fair. You or I would not be in jail either at this point.

Let's let the courts work through this case before we make statements about what will or will not happen in Rice's future.

Yep. One thing I feel people, NOT you Karl, but a lot of people feel that they would currently be jobless and in jail if they did this. Would they be in jail? Nope. Would they lose job? Depends on employer. I worked for a federal agency for years and more then likely would still be working if I did this at the time of employment. I would be required to report. Then employment would be pending due process.

In terms of jobs, yeah depends on the employer, but in most cases, you are gone. 8 felonies, they would look at it as a black eye on their organization.

I saw this kid having huge upside as a football player, and when it was clear he’d play the majority of the season, if not all of it, statistically he was worth a roster spot.

There’s a lot of players whose “brand” I don’t particularly like. But, I don’t really consider that when drafting a FFL team.

I get what you are saying. Other options should eat into Rice's target share. I've kicked this around since April. Here is how it looks in "Dave's world" Warning, there may be galaxy braining involved here.

• Kelce has been great and helped me win FF championships in the past. But 2024 Kelce is in love with a mega star and has the world by the short hairs. Doesn't need to be great at football to define him. He's already done it. Sadly, I think he has a massive drop in production and will get massive cheers every time he catches a football. I've avoided Kelce only have him on 2% of 275 BB teams. How's that for a flag plant?
• Worthy is a splash play maker. Unlikely to get a high target volume. Will have designed plays for him and scare opponents who have to soften coverage an extra step. Better BB WR than trusting him as a flex in your weekly lineup. Ping pong 20+ point weeks with 5 point duds.
• Hollywood I like when healthy. Will be a good intermediate route player, but not as explosive as Worthy nor Rice. Tends to miss time but a good WR when healthy, but not an alpha demanding a high target share.
• Pacheco is great. Usage will be higher in blow outs.

Circle back to Rashee Rice... Dynamic player who is ridiculously good at taking a short pass for a long gain. Makes Mahomes look great by making easy throws. Rice can also pick up the Kelce slack on slant routes. Mahomes trusts Rice now. They have chemistry. Pepper the young explosive guy with targets to move the chains, keep Kelce fresh and healthy this season. Adds up to an alpha target share and monster in FF.

In fact i agree with almost all of it, love your take on Rice, have him across many leagues, liked the price tag as my WR3 and even 4/Flex which can be a huge edge in PPR when you have a potential WR1 that deep down your starting roster

I'm on the Rice train. Took him 5.06 in a 12 team redraft and thought at the time maybe I was falling for preseason hype (again as I do SO many times). This time I think it might have been a good pick. And it worked out. I was gonna take Kyler Murray (QBs were coming off fast and I wanted Kyler this year) and got him 6.07 anyway. Maybe I had a better draft than it felt like when I finished.

Might be the biggest fantasy steal of the year everyone fearing suspension. Reminds me of the year Tyreek year when people where getting him very late early on and was never suspended but not quite on that level got myself some 6th / 7th round Rice on the underdog early on just not enough apparently.

Sucks for the person that panicked in my dynasty league and traded Rice away for Nick Bosa then traded Bosa for a 2nd rounder then drafted Bo Nix with that pick.

Agreed, but he could easily have been close to, y'know, killing people with his actions. Henry Ruggs didn't leave Top Golf looking to end a person and her dog, either.

I might be overreacting after a Philly loss and a fantasy loss.

But, the dropoff from Rice/Godwin to Godwin/McLaurin/Jamo is pretty significant. My RB2 is weak, too
