xbox one vs ps4 (1 Viewer)

Jessica Christmas, you guys are still on this whole XBone thing?? Can't wait for TitanFall to drop so there's something more interesting to discuss!

No ####. Now I'M going to be forced to call it the Xbone because it's causing so much outrage. See what you guys did? If you would have just let it go it might have died off. Now you've made it worse.

A day after I got my Xbone release system the internal power supply went bad. Now the replacement has the DVD drive grinding and it doesn't recognize any discs - 3 days before Titanfall. Not happy.

The return rate on these things must be sky high.

Pretty short list of Xbone games there...although Quantum Break looks impressive (Greg Louden who worked on the visual effects team for Gravity is a level designer and scripter).

I don't know for sure but I think direct x is a optimizer soooooo make X1 run better would be my guess.
I would think any serious gamer would know what DirectX is and how it effects games. It seems as much news as you throw in here you would have an understanding of Directx.

Have you heard of cryEngine, unreal Engine, frostbite? Most of the major engines use Directx.

Anyway, DirectX is an API that gives developers access to the hardware, shader pipelines, etc. In fact the PS4 uses a modified version of DirectX that has been modified to give even lower level access to the hardware.

He asked what it meant that directx 12 was coming out, not what dirextx was, thanks for answering it doesn't mean much since directx is already in most engines. Slightly better graphics over time for everything most likely.

Like I said last week, it's really dumb that slapping a short, terrible single player campaign onto a game is somehow considered better than just using those resources to make MP better.

Metacritic score so far for Titanfall is 87 with a few reviewers waiting to score it to see if the Microsoft Azure servers hold up post go-live. The scores would be higher on most of them if there were a single player campaign. I disagree with that notion, but whatever.

I hate seeing critics knock a game for not having both single and multi-player campaigns. I'd rather have a game that provides only one of those features and does it very well instead of a game that provides both of those features, but with one (or both) being half-###ed.

they seem to think leaving out SP would cost them sales. my contention is to take the same game and sell a half-price SP campaign and see what happens. maybe they will make MORE money!

been waiting for a PS4 after f'ing up and canceling my preorder. My just get an xbone , everyone happy with theirs?
I'm an Xbox guy, but at this point I think the PS4 is better for most customers. For me, the XB1 makes sense because I'm primarily a MP guy and I'll put a metric crapton of hours into Gears, Titanfall, and Halo, all of which I couldn't play on the PS4. The PS4 controller also still drives me nuts (they fixed a lot of stuff but I have no idea why they still left that left analog stick in the wrong spot).

If neither of those things describe you, there's not really much of a reason to choose Xbox right now. I got to play around with a PS4 the other day and the interface was so much zippier and better organized.

I went with the Xbox One first versus the PS4. I am very happy with my choice and would do it again. My PS3 just gathered dust outside of playing a Blu-Ray occasionally. I felt the same would happen again so will hold off buying the PS4 until Uncharted or Last of Us comes out. Those are the only two games I played on the PS3 in the last couple of years and truthfully they may not be worth the purchase price of the console.

It seems pretty hypocritical that so many gamers hate when companies take away resources to force MP into a SP campaign but complain when companies don't take away resources to force SP into a MP game.

This is pretty much me. With a little of what FreeBaGel talked about as well (the metric crapton of multiplayer gaming thing I do).

But by the end of this generation, I'll have all three consoles anyway. It's just that I'm starting with the Xbox and ending with Playstation - which is opposite of what I did last gen.

I was responding to your lack of knowledge on what DirectX is when you have posted so much information. Like I said I thought most true gamers understood all the in between stuff.

As far as what DirectX 12 will give the Xbox One is unknown and that if it even supports it. Everyone will find out at GDC if Microsoft planned ahead or not.

Great idea. There are millions of gamers who play the SP in games like this and never touch MP. Make the SP $30 and it would be a big seller.

I agree with this. I think Titanfall will not be the hit everyone thinks since it is MP only.

Yes, sir. Pretty much for Mario Kart and Smash Bros.

Edit: Neither of which are out yet LOL

I think you're overestimating how many people buy multiplayer heavy games for the campaign. I believe Microsoft or Activision posted the number of Call of Duty owners who have unlocked the campaign achievements and it was a very low percentage. I remember being surprised at how few (compared to sales numbers) even had the first campaign achievement in the games.

By the way, I don't have a link to this. It was an article from over a year ago sometime after Black Ops 2 released.

I wish Microsoft had that kind of data available to everyone like Steam provides. I like seeing what achievements are most common and rare in games available on Steam.

It's ok that you don't know what effect DirectX 12 will have and it doesn't make you any less of a gamer as you suggest. It is irrelevant that you don't know what Directx 12 will do. You can still be a car enthusiast even if you don't know every tool the manufacturer uses, just keep at it!

Im interested in seeing how it shakes out. i used to enjoy the SP campaigns, and bought the first COD for them. Then i found out how much fun MP can be.

Based on what I'm seeing in the SP campaigns, I think I'm done buying from that aspect. Which means that I will wait for the price to go down, which means I will get into MP late, which means my already mediocre MP skills will be even more obvious when playing the hardcore folks who stick around past 6 months.

that really explains why i play these games with all of my opponents muted.

Not sure why you highlighted what you did. No one outside of MS has facts on what will be said about 12 and the Xbox one at GDC. It is an unreleased API.

A true car enthusiast understands how a car works just like a true gamer understands the same about games.

It is fine to like cars just like there is nothing wrong with be a casual gamer.

So is the pad worth it? Seemed pretty gimmicky to me and heavy at over a pound.

It's OK I guess but I've not put enough time into the console myself to really render much of an opinion.

Because you say that a true gamer would know what effect directx would have then you don't know what it will do, which is funny because you are trolling yourself.

The Witcher 3 has been delayed until February 2015.

Damn. At least it means they're not rushing it out the door like so many other games recently. I hope they put the time into it and it's as good or better than Skyrim.

No one knows the details of 12 yet.

You are the troll I just find it funny you post a ton of stuff you do not understand. That is all.

I am done clustering the thread talking to a troll.
