Yet another Pitt Bull attack (1 Viewer)

Just cringeworthy.  Idiot owner should go to jail, and/or pay hefty fines.  Dog should be put down.  End of discussion.

Frankly, I'd be OK with putting the owner down too.  But, baby steps.
I would have walked up to that dog and stabbed it in the neck. There is no telling what could have happened to that woman and it's clear the owner was not in control. I guess I have a problem with the people that just stood there and let that woman get assaulted by the dog. Maybe not in NYC, but where I'm from everyone has a folder they can at least jab in that dogs throat to fix the problem.

Your post has a real "The Jerk Store called..." vibe to it.

So freaking senseless. People are just so so dumb.

Jesus.
There’s an article link on the one above about a pregnant woman stabbing her boyfriend’s dog (he’s deployed) to death to save her sister/mom and I’m assuming a stupid friend talking about how sweet that pit bull was. Well at least it’s dead before the baby is born so it now has a chance to see its first birthday. So stupid. Idiots lining up to get pit bulls because they’re trendy and just like the abusive boyfriends* that they think they can tame.

* I went to a top 10 university and I recall a friend fawning over this ######## guy who rode a motorcycle and was known to hit his previous girlfriends. I and the rest of our friends were asking her WTF she would even consider dating that guy. So stupid, even though she was smart enough to go there. Same principle. Not all pit bull owners are scum of the earth and they think they can control them.

I don't know what you mean.

Do you think the babysitter should face charges? Maybe manslaughter charges?
I never like it when either side uses a death as a talking point. I've just accepted that is how some posters are.

I dont know what the babysitter should face.

With all due respect, this thread is full of various attacks and unfortunately, deaths.

If you don't like it when either side talks about death, this is definitely the wrong thread for you.

(But yeah, it's a horrible story....just wondering what consensus opinion is for penalties.)

Police fatally shoot pit bull after 2 attacked in NKY

TAYLOR MILL, KY (FOX19) -

An officer shot and killed a pit bull after the dog attacked and seriously hurt two people and then charged at police, according to the Taylor Mill Police Department.

Officers responded to the 700 block of St. Matthews Circle in reference to a dog bite just before midnight, police said.

Before they arrived, the run was upgraded to an active dog attack.

Upon arrival, officers heard someone yelling from the rear yard of the residence, according to police.

They were directed to the rear yard by one of the residents at the home who had called 911.

Police said as the officers made their way to the back, they saw a male laying on the ground being attacked by a pit bull.

Officers yelled at the dog.

It released the male and charged at them, police said.

An officer shot and killed the pit bull.

Then police gave medical aid to the male and located another victim who had been attacked, a female inside the home.

Both victims were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. They have serious but non life threatening injuries, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.

A random bump I wasnt expecting. I think what I was saying is I dont want to see this thread posting every single dog attack that isnt a pit to prove the opposite point as well.

I never knew this thread existed but as someone who's had an Uncle and a cousin both combined owned 3 Pit Bulls I will say a lot of the dogs habits is the fault of owners. It's a dog you need to have special attention towards. They have to be trained at a young age how to behave. They are great guard dogs especially for small children if they are properly trained. Unfortunately you have a ton of scumbags who take these dogs and use them for dog fighting because of how powerful they are. Unfortunately these types of people give the dog a bad name. Also many people who own these dogs do not have them properly trained. We honestly need better screening for owners when it comes to these dogs and all dogs in general. to just anyone can own these dogs.

People can’t or won’t raise their children properly what makes you think they can train pitbulls?
Yep. They always blame the dog fighters but I don’t ever remember any of these articles mentioning a kid getting killed while attending a dog fight. My 11 year old plays on a tournament team and I just heard parents talking about some sort of breed of pit bull and mastiff mix.

Love this link: https://animalso.com/breeds/pitbull-mastiff-mix/

How many people who think Pits are cool go through all of this? Why would you get a “dog reactive” and always supervise your dog and 10 year old kid type of dog when you have kids? If mom is supervising do you really think she can pull the dog of her kid?

So stupid that people keep getting these dogs. I don’t care what people say, a pit bull is a “cool” status dog. Can’t just get a friendly lab or pug, gotta show people that you have a pit and it’s nice.

Sorry, no disrespect intended. But, I find this to be a dumb post. "Cool" status dog? really?

Being a responsible owner for any dog breed is imperative. All dogs can be dangerous, period!

Yes. There is no doubt in my mind that pit bulls are considered cool status dogs by many people that own them.

Oh yay, this again.
There is no credible evidence that breed determines or predicts dangerousness. Any dog can bite, regardless of its breed. It is the dog's individual history, behavior, general size, number of dogs involved, and the vulnerability of the person bitten that determines the likelihood of biting and whether a dog will cause a serious bite injury.

It is not possible to calculate a bite rate for a breed or to compare rates between breeds because the data reported is often unreliable.

This is because:

  • The breed of a biting dog is often not known or is reported inaccurately.
  • The actual number of bites that occur in a community is not known, especially if they don't result in serious injury.
  • The number of dogs of a particular breed or combination of breeds in a community is not known because it is rare for all dogs in a community to be licensed.
  • Statistics often do not consider multiple incidents caused by a single animal.
  • Breed popularity changes over time, making comparison of breed-specific bite rates unreliable. However, a review of the research that attempts to quantify the relation between breed and bite risk finds the connection to be weak or absent, while responsible ownership variables such as socialization, neutering and proper containment of dogs are much more strongly indicated as important risk factors.

OK, you are entitled to your opinion. You may be of the opinion that the moon is made of cheese as well.  Just because it's your opinion does not make it reality.

Are we talking about dog bites? Who knew? I was more focused on maulings and human deaths.

One breed comes to mind as I believe would be the case with most people when this topic comes up. Your points don’t pass the eye test.
