Total value: 250

Note - When I win the bonus $100 it should be sent to J's feeding the homeless fund.

You were too kind evaluating my roster; thank you.

QB - Tom Brady - TB/13 - $15
QB - Drew Lock - DEN/8 - $8
QB - Philip Rivers - IND/7 - $8

Evans is the only Buc I wouldn't take because of the W13 bye.  I had Rivers on several iterations and I don't think W13 will be an issue for you.  Brady's ceiling is Top 1, imo.

RB - Christian McCaffrey - CAR/13 - $39
RB - James Conner - PIT/8 - $23
RB - Zack Moss - BUF/11 - $10
RB - Antonio Gibson - WAS/8 - $9
RB - Chris Thompson - JAX/7 - $5

I probably overspent here.  I had Singletary for a long time...but all the talking heads say Moss will become the man (and start at the goalline).  Gibson and Thompson will probably be in top 10 of ownership...I think Conner should too (hoping that's irrational vs rational fear).

WR - D.J. Chark - JAX/7 - $17
WR - Diontae Johnson - PIT/8 - $13
WR - Emmanuel Sanders - NO/6 - $11
WR - Mecole Hardman - KC/10 - $10
WR - Sammy Watkins - KC/10 - $10
WR - Allen Lazard - GB/5 - $7
WR - Josh Reynolds - LAR/9 - $5
WR - Alshon Jeffery - PHI/9 - $5
WR - Bryan Edwards - LV/6 - $3

Had your top 3 for a long time...kept Sanders.  There's so many choices between $5 and $10 any critique from me would be silly.  Edwards also top 10 ownership I'd guess.

TE - Darren Waller - LV/6 - $17
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/9 - $11
TE - Gerald Everett - LAR/9 - $7
TE - Jordan Akins - HOU/8 - $3

Waller also a favorite.  Goedert is a proven commodity.  Everything else is just backup TEs, PKs and DEFs.

PK - Joey Slye - CAR/13 - $3
PK - Stephen Gostkowski - TEN/7 - $2
PK - Sam Sloman - LAR/9 - $2
TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/10 - $3
TD - Las Vegas Raiders - LV/6 - $2
TD - Miami Dolphins - MIA/11 - $2

Love the risk only taking 2 QBs.  That often pays off.    Outside of Newton and Ertz, every pick screams value.  Well done @SeniorVBDStudent

I was wondering your thoughts on Ertz. Last year Ertz scored almost as much as Kittle although it was in one less game and he is $7 less. Also if he approaches last year’s numbers he should outscore most of the WRs in the $20 range. I don’t see much reason for regression as Philly’s WRs are still a mess. Maybe I am overlooking Goedert taking over a larger role but I am not seeing that as he had a pretty big share last year. In short, I see a solid bargain without a lot of excessive risk and wondered why you thought otherwise.

TWO DISCLAIMERS

1. You asked for it.

2. You'll probably do better than me, so there's that....

QB - Joe Burrow - CIN/9 - $11
QB - Jimmy Garoppolo - SF/11 - $10
QB - Gardner Minshew - JAX/7 - $9
QB - Dwayne Haskins - WAS/8 - $5

$35 on QBs and your best prospect is a rookie.  Playing for the Bengals.  Against Steelers, Ravens and Browns defenses for 6 games.  Ouch.

RB - Clyde Edwards-Helaire - KC/10 - $27
RB - James Conner - PIT/8 - $23
RB - Sony Michel - NE/6 - $12
RB - Antonio Gibson - WAS/8 - $9
RB - Darrynton Evans - TEN/7 - $8
RB - Malcolm Brown - LAR/9 - $4

Sony Michel will probably finish the year with fewer carries than Darrynton Evans.  And I don't even know who that is.

WR - D.J. Chark - JAX/7 - $17
WR - Tyler Boyd - CIN/9 - $16
WR - Diontae Johnson - PIT/8 - $13
WR - Preston Williams - MIA/11 - $12
WR - Brandon Aiyuk - SF/11 - $9
WR - Steven Sims - WAS/8 - $7
WR - Bryan Edwards - LV/6 - $3

Its fascinating to think about how many allegedly great Jaguars have left the franchise in the last year.  What exactly do they have left besides an absentee owner?

You actually have 3 players I've never heard of.....Evans, Sims, and Aiyuk (is he an Eskimo?).

TE - Blake Jarwin - DAL/10 - $9
TE - Irv Smith - MIN/7 - $8
TE - Chris Herndon - NYJ/11 - $7
TE - C.J. Uzomah - CIN/9 - $5

By any chance are you a Cowboys fan?  What if Jason Whitten's production is not because of the system, but because he's Jason Whitten?  This is a good collection of TE3s.

PK - Younghoe Koo - ATL/10 - $4
PK - Stephen Gostkowski - TEN/7 - $2
PK - Sam Sloman - LAR/9 - $2

I can't even. Young hoe?  Is that like a nickname in the ATL?

TD - Buffalo Bills - BUF/11 - $5
TD - Minnesota Vikings - MIN/7 - $4
TD - Los Angeles Rams - LAR/9 - $4
TD - Seattle Seahawks - SEA/6 - $3
TD - Carolina Panthers - CAR/13 - $2

$13 less here and you could have had a real TE1.

Ha thanks! I appreciate the good natured ribbing.

Alright, why not.

Fitzmagic is still in the league?

Frank Gore is still in the league?

$22 for a WR on a team that will run literally ever play.

$17 for a tight end on a team that drafted 7 pass catchers?

Cin/GB/Car, jeez was LSU D not available or something?

  • 8 WRs total cost of $98
  • 3 TEs total cost of $37
  • 4 PKs total cost of $10
  • 3 DSTs total cost of $8

I appreciate @BassNBrew thoughts and work around these parts with the Survivor Drafts and the IBL Team coordination and I will follow his lead and donate my additional $100 to @Joe Bryant and his bbq lunches for Knoxville's homeless.

Two primary factors impacted my team construction. The first is the nature of best ball competitions in that you can brother-in-law scores and do not necessarily have a single guy carry the team all year. I generally like the way large teams advance in this contest, so I tried to package a larger number of mid-range cost players, particularly at the wide receiver and tight end positions. The second factor is similar to the first in that expectations for missed games in 2020 with Covid around made depth an even greater consideration for this year's contest.

I went with three quarterbacks for the extra depth and went with my preferred low cost players. Minshew was on my roster from the jump start and I considered Lock and Carr more than others, but went with the potential upside of Burrow, Minshew and Haskins as they are all players that should play the entire season win or lose and their teams look to lose a lot and be forced often into pass often catch up mode.

My RB stable is more worrisome in that I did go with one higher cost option. If Jacobs misses a lot of games, then my RB scores could struggle. Scott, Lindsay, Moss and Gibson should have consistent roles, if not primary and Chris Thompson is likely to catch a lot of balls in the aforementioned catch up mode for the Jaguars. A lot of eggs ($26) in the Jacobs' basket is a big concern, but other rosters I have seen have multiple high dollar RBs, so maybe not a risky position.

My wide receiver are mostly mid-range guys who have a good chance to outproduce ADP or in this case cost. A lot of options is beneficial to getting flex scores from this large group. My original thought to avoid rookies at wide receiver fell apart in my final roster, so that is an obvious risk with these guys. Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs and Edwards are all extremely talented guys and hopefully they get to game speed quickly.

Same philosophy at tight end bought three mid-range players and I went deep and cheap at PK with four and DST with three.

Here's hoping that the Shark Pool has several guys in the finals so we can cheer each other on.

QB - Russell Wilson - SEA/6 - $17
QB - Ben Roethlisberger - PIT/8 - $11
QB - Philip Rivers - IND/7 - $8

Russell Wilson is basically a fixture as a top-5 QB and I think his price is too low for the consistency he brings.  The addition of Greg Olsen, for however long that is, is a nice red zone option and the duo of Lockett and Metcalf can take any catch to the house.  Roethlisberger is just a gut feel, but, like Wilson, he seems to consistently produce when healthy.  Plus 4 games against Cleveland and Cincy are nice.  Rivers can still sling it and he's now behind a better O-line.  If he can get decent play from a WR not named T.Y. Hilton, he can put up massive numbers. Plus I have no BYEs after week 8 at QB.

RB - Joe Mixon - CIN/9 - $28
RB - Clyde Edwards-Helaire - KC/10 - $27
RB - Chris Carson - SEA/6 - $21
RB - Boston Scott - PHI/9 - $11
RB - Zack Moss - BUF/11 - $10
RB - Antonio Gibson - WAS/8 - $9
RB - Benny Snell - PIT/8 - $4

Mixon got paid and has a legitimate QB (hopefully) to take pressure of team's stacking the box.  Gio Bernard is his only real competition, so I think Mixon is on the field A LOT for Cincy.  CEH is on one of the highest-powered teams in the NFL and has mild competition behind him.  If he clicks, look out.  Carson should have the backfield pretty much to himself and any TD receptions is double points for me.  The Seahawks like to run the ball and I like the guy who is on the team that likes to run the ball.  Gibson is the must-have cheap guy in case he goes off because he'll be on at least half the rosters if not close to 70% of them.  Moss might be the most valuable RB in Buffalo and getting him at $10 is criminal.  Scott and Snell are insurance and PPR hedges, especially given the injury history of Conner and Miles.

WR - Tyler Lockett - SEA/6 - $18
WR - T.Y. Hilton - IND/7 - $17
WR - CeeDee Lamb - DAL/10 - $12
WR - Parris Campbell - IND/7 - $7
WR - Chase Claypool - PIT/8 - $4
WR - Bryan Edwards - LV/6 - $3

Lockett is my double-dip for Wilson.  He might get surpassed by Metcalf this year, but he has enough speed to make 65 receptions seriously count.  Hilton is my Indy double-dip and should be in for a bounce-back year with Rivers at QB.  CeeDee is getting crazy praise out of Cowboys camp and Dak can support three 1,000-yard WRs, so the only concern is the rookie learning curve.  With Campbell, I should get the majority of Rivers' TD passes and double-dip on the scores.  Claypool is flashing in camp and, you guessed it, a double-dip with Big Ben if he can make the starting lineup.  Edwards is a $3 and will be very highly owned (IMO).  Much like Gibson, you almost have to have him just in case he goes crazy.  All my BYEs are done by week 8 except Lamb, so that's a nice bonus.

TE - Mike Gesicki - MIA/11 - $12
TE - Jonnu Smith - TEN/7 - $9
TE - O.J. Howard - TB/13 - $7

Gesicki is a slot WR that you can plug in at TE and get bonus points for receptions.  What's not to love?  Smith and Howard are guys with a QB who enjoys throwing to the TE and might be better later in the season when things get really interesting in this contest.

PK - Matt Prater - DET/5 - $4
PK - Brandon McManus - DEN/8 - $4

Two guys who shouldn't lose their jobs.  McManus gets the thin air in Denver for half his games, bumping up the percentage for a long FG ever so slightly.  Detroit should have a powerful offense and should give Prater plenty of opportunities this season.

TD - Indianapolis Colts - IND/7 - $3
TD - Atlanta Falcons - ATL/10 - $2
TD - Arizona Cardinals - ARI/8 - $2

Three cheap defenses.  Not much thought put into these except the all have a different BYE.

Alright...

If least rushing yards from a qb was a stat, you would take that title.

Derrick and dominoes, ie 5 backup rbs who might as well be deliving Dominoes pizzas.

Not sure any of your WR have ever caught a touchdown.

Couldn't even tell you who your kickers play for.

Anytime you can grab the defenses that go 2x against KC, Bal, Pit, Dal, Phi, SF, Sea, LAR, you have to do it.

do we need QBs to rush to win? I missed that memo.

Also you really need to brush up on your kicker knowledge. And you call yourself a shark. ;)

the rule was you couldn’t edit after the cutoff time today.

If any teams on that list tweaked their lineups after the cutoff today, they don’t qualify for the special shark pool bonus.

Just because they posted a lineup to this topic doesn’t mean they didn’t change it.

my understanding was that to qualify, one had to post a lineup here, and have that posted lineup be unchanged.

perhaps I misinterpreted that?

the rule was you couldn’t edit after the cutoff time today.

If any teams on that list tweaked their lineups after the cutoff today, they don’t qualify for the special shark pool bonus.

Just because they posted a lineup to this topic doesn’t mean they didn’t change it.

my understanding was that to qualify, one had to post a lineup here, and have that posted lineup be unchanged.

perhaps I misinterpreted that?

basically if the last lineup you posted in this thread matches your lineup at official contest lock you're good.  That 67 is a max number - probably is a few less.

this may not be an accurate list - we don’t know if lineups posted on earlier pages before Joe’s announcement were later edited or not, and if so, if they stopped editing before the deadline.

i’m just sayin.

That's why I said only the entries on the first 10 pages of this thread are eligible.

Right. Which I’m reasonably sure many of the lineups posted before that announcement of the shark pool special won’t qualify for.

Eligible, yes. Qualified, maybe no. If those early lineups posted were edited between when they posted & today’s cutoff they’re DQ’d from the shark pool special, right?

Solid attempt. B-

do we need QBs to rush to win? I missed that memo.

Also you really need to brush up on your kicker knowledge. And you call yourself a shark. ;)

Your team is pretty good, so I was reaching. I do know who the kickers play for, just messing around.

Right and if you posted on page 5 and then again on page 10 before noon and then don't change from the page 10 lineup, you're fine.

This is how I understand it.  There were many who posted their lineups early, then changed them prior to the noon deadline.  But one thing is for sure - only 67 different people posted a lineup before noon.  Whether or not their actual contest entry is what they roll with is up to them.

All good - just wanted to make sure I understood the rules of the super social shark shenanigans.

So it’s possible there’s 67, or, if any of those lineups posted before the announcement were edited after posting, “up to 67” possible entries with a few of the earlier ones DQ’d from the super special shark shenanigans.

This is an interesting experiment in self control as I’ve never finished in top 100 so I am giving up some extremely small opportunity cost to get my fix for 12 more hours. So far it’s worked.

I SO WANT TO CHANGE MY LINEUP!!!!

I’ve been wanting to upgrade Hunt to a better RB2 since before I posted it, but the super secret special shark shenanigans prevents me from acting on that impulse.

I feel like I need a support group.

Yes, 67 possible

I guess all 67 people who posted will be eligible, even if they edited after noon, as long as they change it back to their final roster on the first 10 pages.  That would be for @Joe Bryant to decide.
