Trump (1 Viewer)

I voted for him. I don’t like him but I stomached him - just not interested in what Democrats have to say in general type of thing. But that’s beside the point. Now that he has pretty clearly lost - I just want him to shut up, finish his term, and go away. I really do.

Good luck with that.

I think an underappreciated fact about the Trump era is that people who genuinely personally dislike him were a key part of his coalition.
lots of people who say they dislike him, a lot less who actually do

Likewise about Hillary. Once she lost I just wanted her to be quiet and let others do the talking. She had her chance, ran a faulty campaign and stuck us with Trump.

Super hopeful that he would give a concession speech and put the good of the country ahead of himself, but really doubt he has it in him.

He’s opened my eyes in one way. I had no idea what good hearted men that Bush, Bush, and McCain were until now. President Trump has certainly impacted my perception there.
Exactly why he was fired.

I don’t feel any need to heap praise on these former candidates just for acting like normal human beings.  Their concession speeches were totally normal and expected behavior for a public servant in our country. The media has completely failed us over the past 4 years by normalizing Trump’s obvious derangement. I know there are a few fringe exceptions, but the great majority of reporting on this man has been cowardly. He came to my city last year and ranted about how toilets flush for several minutes. Every reporter should have called out his insanity, which has always been a significant national risk. I read the NPR story the next day and there was no mention of it.  There are hundreds if not thousands of similar examples of this during his term.  The media simply accepted the fact we have a psychotic maniac as our president and normalized it.

Very  :goodposting:

Astonishing.

That's what a divider does.  As much as Trump voters loved Trump, there were 4 Million more Biden voters that despised him.

I will tell you a lot of Trump voters I know....voted Republican policies or their pocket books (which makes very little sense and is an entirely another discussion)...not for Trump and would not cross party lines because of that. Many people bought into the Trump propaganda machine of “if you vote for Biden” we will become a socialist/communist country which in of itself is one of the more ridiculous things I have ever heard in a campaign in AMERICA. And so many drank that like free beer. The disconnect between latin voters in Dade county (mostly Cuban and South American) and the rest of the country was stark. They were running spanish speaking ad’s blasting Biden and Harris and convincing these people we will be communist Cuba and they all were scared to death. Believe me. A total brainwash job by his propaganda machine.

He has a portion of voters who are absolute fanatics. His “people” His “Followers”. A Cult of Personality in the highest degree.

The Republicans who are behind him right now in his desperate bid to prove there was massive voter fraud (another example of just incredible disregard for our Democracy and what America is all about in his thirst to keep “Power") in hoping to keep his voter base (Desantis is a perfect example) for their own political gain will be in for a rude awakening when it is time for them to be re-elected.

The Republican party has lost me. Forever. They better wake up. A large swath of suburban Republicans like myself are jumping ship as we watched them line up like lemmings behind this guy and let him run amok and ruin our standing around the world and to decency among the human race.

Just disgusting.

So glad he is over.

I think Cuban voters can speak for themselves. My best friend is Cuban. We grew up together  and i am very close to the family. His mother and father escaped Castro. They have told me of the horrors they had to endure. They live in Miami now and i respect life experience they have shared with me. They don't need someone like you to tell them what is best for them.

I have Cuban relatives......you don’t know me at all.

I know exactly what they went through. He preyed on those fears with his rhetoric in political ad’s and pulpit like speeches at his rallies.

Like other Fascists like to do.

So why are you mad at Cubans? Because they didn't vote the way YOU wanted them too?

Not mad at them at all. I feel sorry for the ones that fell for it.

Because now they are scared to death we will become communist/socialist. This is what was beaten to death into their heads for a year. And they believed it!!!

Fortunately it will be proven wrong. And hopefully people learn from this election cycle what we were dealing with and why we fired him.

No anger at all. Sadness....yes.

It is super weird that anyone who hated authoritarian rule would vote for a guy who was acting from the wannabe dictator playbook.

No, see, the authoritarian they ran from is totally different than the one that convinced them to vote for him. One came to power through a populist movement, and the other got voted in by a bunch of people. See? Totally not the same!

I have a hard time seeing anyone step in and fill the MAGA role Trump has. His personality is such a big drawing point. Whether you love or hate him, there’s no denying Trump is a very unique individual and has an ability to entertain people in a way almost no other politician has been able to do.

This is very true.   Have to confess, I still laugh whenever he refers to the North Korean leader as "Little Rocket Man."

He’s really funny out of context or if seen as a Michael Scott like character. When you add the context that he’s the actual leader of the country, it’s not so funny anymore. However his supporters see him like a rock star.

I voted for him and am not happy that he lost for purely financial reasons.  He did lose though.  He has to understand that at this point and needs to step down with some class.   Unfortunately, he probably doesn’t have that in him.  He needs to allow the Biden phase to  begin.
I voted for Biden because I do not believe Trump is an accurate reflection of what a leader should be, and I believe he has tricked other members of my faith into trusting him to the detriment of their own faith. Biden is far from perfect(I don't like abortion, but I feel making it unnecessary instead of just illegal is a better way to fix that issue), but he does show that he's willing to try to find common ground. We'll have to see if that continues.

I would hope that there would be an condemnation across the country in regards to not sharing with the Biden Camp security briefings.  Not doing that is one of the more petty things the POTUS has done and greatly reflects his concern for the American public.

I was reading last night about Gerald Fords "Rose Garden Strategy" and a week ago(even with the pressing for recounts/investigation into voter fraud) would have hoped Trump would have said (paraphrasing) " I have good people looking into voter fraud and they will do a good job and unveil the truth....but I am still the POTUS and have an obligation to keep this country on a good footing and direction for the 2020-2024 Presidential cycle...whomever it might be (and we all know...it will be me!)".

He's completely checked out.

The White House has called a lid, according to the pool report. No public sightings of Trump today. No public remarks from Trump now for 6 days.
Disclaimer- I voted Trump.

This is exactly what he should be doing.  Honestly the Media is driving everyone into a frenzy over this.  Whether or not any actual voting fraud existed (and while i am sure we can the occasional dead guy or smaller cases of ballot harvesting out there, i don't beleive it was anything near big enough to sway the election), there are legitimate appeals and recounts going on and there is absolutely nothing wrong with Trump's people checking into this and verifying things.  It's due process...  and has happened many many times before. There is precedent for it, and just because the Media declares it's over doesn't mean it is.  That said, Trump needs to shut up and let things play out.  It's my sincere hope that once these avenues play out (towards the end of the month) that he comes to terms with things and steps down.  But lets be realistic here...  Did Obama play nice with Trump when Trump was elected?  NO.  There are all kinds of stories of the little gags the Clinton's pulled on Bush when he took over.  There is tons of precedence for this, and Trump isn't the first President to leave office and do as little as possible to help the new regime.  In fact at this point he's pretty much just following the Clinton play book.

Everyone needs to settle down and stop watching CNN so much.

That's not how due process works.

Republicans used to oppose frivolous lawsuits. Now they try to call them "due process"? Come on.

As far as transition...yes, Obama played nice with Trump.  And pranks will happen...that is not nearly in the same vicinity of what is happening right now.
No...  he really didn't.  And if you remove the Media's influence and bias you'd see it was pretty similar.  Obama was no fan of Trump.  And is anyone actually willing to come on here and say the Clinton's played nice?  Really?

Trump being Trump, he's going to do this in the most obnoxious and vocally abrasive way he can..  and tick off as many people as he can...

Is this for real.  You're comparing a gag to Trump's attempt to steal the election?  This is not even in the same realm of what Trump is doing.

If this is a fishing trip well done, but if you actually have convinced yourself that these are similar things, then I really don't know what to say.

Similar?  Did Obama refuse to transition?  No...its not even close.  If you want to claim he didn't play nice..you are going to have to give some actual examples and support those assertions rather than just making baseless claims.

I don't care what the Clinton's did...beyond what was actually pretty funny in removing the Ws from keyboards...what did they do?  BTW...I voted for Bush, twice.

And the excuse that its just Trump being Trump doesn't make it acceptable at all.

Trump was in the White House on Nov. 10th.  He met with Obama for an hour +.

On 11/9/16 the Inelligence Committee offered the President's Daily Brief to Trump.

Fan or no fan of Trumps.....Obama saw a transition to Trump as being instrumental to the health of the Nation.

Is the Trump Tweets thread gone?  Am I blind?  Or forgetting that it was axed recently?

Anyway...this seems as good of a place to put this as it is about the things that turned some previous Trump voters off.   And as much crap as Hillary got for the basket of deplorables...will Trump see the same for this retweet?

Progress....to a post proclaiming all Biden voters are ignorant, anti-american, and anti-Christian
Yeah it just suddenly disappeared with no explanation given. :sadbanana:

The mods nuked it (or hid it) and they did it that way instead of locking it as they apparently didn't want to bring attention to the fact that this popular thread was closed.

What was so good about it was that it was one central place to discuss Trump's tweets. Trump will continue tweeting long after he is no longer POTUS and there should be a specific thread devoted to that, as there has been for the last 4 years. There shouldn't be a debate as to which thread a Trump tweet belongs in.

It’s going to be very interesting to learn how many conservatives come to share your opinion. I don’t want to make any predictions about that; I’ve been wrong too often. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Plenty of conservatives would have jumped on board with Tulsi Gabbard.

Trump did not WIN in 2016, the DNC lost. They also almost lost this election too. It's easy to blame Trump but part of the problem was pushing forward Hillary Clinton ( with her baggage and body count) and Joe Biden ( Captain Dementia with the crackhead son as a bag man)  Was that the best the DNC could do?

What no one wants to talk about is the 70 plus million who voted for Trump were not all die hard Trump flag wavers. That's just an easy shock marketing type move by the MSM to push onto the media landscape. Some were single issue voters ( 2A, Pro Life, not wanting their 8 year old to turn transgender, court packing, immigration) and many voted that way in response to the BLM/Defund the Police/Woke/Cancel culture. Some voted in response to the rioting and looting, which they attributed, fair or not, to the DNC and liberals.

I have yet to see any liberal on here just come out and say that - That the DNC could have made everything far easier for themselves to pick someone the American people could really get behind. Is Biden's vote count a reflection of Biden or a reflection that he's not Trump?

By cancelling Tulsi Gabbard, the DNC lost 2024. Gabbard with full support and some workarounds could have beaten Trump easily. Now that she's fully cancelled, who do they have to battle Dan Crenshaw in four years? If Pelosi lives long enough, it could be Gavin Newsom. Then it will be funny to see the Anti-Trumpers here cross the aisle as fast as possible to make sure Newsom won't ever touch the White House.

The DNC won this POTUS election, but at the staggering cost of how many years in the future?

The field is lackluster. I didn't like Obama, but I will admit he was a great public speaker and dynamic for such a quiet sociopath. The DNC has no one like that coming up from Triple A to The Show. Gabbard was the only one who could beat Crenshaw in 2024.  No one likes Kamala Harris. She couldn't even win the nomination on her own. AOC's McCarthy talk is going to hurt her pretty much forever politically. She'll be crying about her garbage disposal on Twitch from just about every other place but the White House.

This "Hate Trump" mantra doesn't change the reality that the DNC needed to clean it's own house first.

I don't know about you but on January 20, I'm unfollowing Trump and hope to never think of him again.

Back to the China Plague.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 25m

Another Vaccine just announced. This time by Moderna, 95% effective. For those great “historians”, please remember that these great discoveries, which will end the China Plague, all took place on my watch!

The last part of his tweet is the only part that's important to him.  Can't wait until this guy is in the history books!

The original theme of this thread was that Trump’s clinging to office and refusal to accept his defeat would turn off millions of Republicans- not his diehard base perhaps but the conservatives who don’t love Trump but voted for him anyhow.
Not sure this has happened yet.

Don't remember that the virus and all the death took place on his watch...just remember that these companies that have nothing to do with him worked their asses off and were led by science and developed this vaccine...

Such a sad sad thing

In 60 days, I think he will become a huge media mogul and a kingmaker for future elections.  He will continue to have outsized power and influence over GOP politics.
Probably but he's going to be quite busy fending of the many lawsuits he is facing.

In 60 days, I think he will become a huge media mogul and a kingmaker for future elections.  He will continue to have outsized power and influence over GOP politics.
He will continue to hold rallies, not only for fund raising purposes, but for his ego.

There was talk of a Trump Network in 2016 if he had lost. We may still see that.

His influence on the GOP will continue until the perception is that his negative comments on Twitter or lack of support won't have an impact on future elections.

I think it was a strategic campaign decision. His poll numbers didn't go up when he was actively involved with the Coronavirus Task Force, so he switched directions and basically decided to act like he was an outsider to his own administration.

He gambled on a strategy of blaming everyone but himself for the nation's various troubles, and it failed. On the other hand, it almost worked, which is a scary thought.

I think the Coronavirus Task Force thing is overblown. He's the President. He can't be expected to be in every meeting. And he put his #2 in charge of the task force.

Actually - Jared wasn't involved. Correction.

I fear in the name of some false harmony it won't happen, but how I wish there would be a special prosecutor assigned to Trump by the last week in January.

Hopefully the AG of New York is just waiting...biding time...and waiting.

I know why he is fighting so hard to stay relevant (i.e. his ego), but he didn't really seem to enjoy the job that much when he had it. he should take a few years off and go relax. he can spend all his days playing golf and eating fast food. not too shabby.
