It'll be back to normal schedule shortly I imagine.Evilgrin 72 said:I could but then I've already seen the lines by the time the pod is released and it's pretty anti-climactic.

I was thinking the show needed another Patriots homer.Lmobardi on Friday was . Loved the take on Bortles. As a Texans fan, not so much on Brock. Glad to have him back.
That's been his shtick forever though. His dumb opinions and complete lack of substantive evidence is why I listen. I figured that's why everybody listens.biggamer3 said:I love Simmons, but I'm really getting tired of his stupid labels he puts on people without any actual evidence to support that stuff such as "Matt Stafford looked leadery vs Colts for the first time". Wtf does that even mean?
Lombardi was an assassin. Rather listen to him then anyone else I know going. Every Friday. Must listen now.Txns8 said:Lmobardi on Friday was . Loved the take on Bortles. As a Texans fan, not so much on Brock. Glad to have him back.
The only thing I can think that is going on with that site is that they are really targeting millennials for their readership. They probably expect to lose a decent amount of readers that read Grantland but figure that their Grantland demo was a losing one.
The concept is not horrible, but the execution is horrible.
fact check: accurate. decent idea but pretty awful read. The concept is not horrible, but the execution is horrible.
This is the anti-Ringer article: seems like it should end after 500 words, but goes on for 5000.
As if the Glengarry Glen Ross one wasn't bad enough. This is like a bad SNL skit that the producers simply need to kill, but for whatever reason just keep giving it more chances.Yeah that's at least the 2nd "fact check" that Serrano has done. Stupid. Some of his other work is pretty good though.
Congrats on finally finding The Internet. I wonder what you'll experience on Day 2.Kind of weird that you all keep complaining about how bad everything is but keep watching/listening/reading.
I think that was tongue in cheek"you know what trade I loved? Andy Lee for a 4th. Seems like we are undervaluing punters"
Just a bit. Especially after the draft strategy chat.I think that was tongue in cheek
you're missing out. Twitter is the best.God bless not being on Twitter.
I don't think their system has changed. They still email their picks to each other on Monday morning. The only difference is that they don't record the podcast until Wednesday or Thursday. How did they do the guess the lines picks before this year? I was under the impression that Sal made his picks and sent them to Simmons before the lines came out, but Simmons waited until the podcast to tell his. I'm not sure if that's accurate, though. There were definitely times when I had the feeling that Simmons cheated.
Now Sal is kicking his butt so far under the new setup. Hmmmm.
It's not like I would have actually watched anyway, but seeing him publicize Abby Wambach made me sure to not even randomly end up on the channel.New low in ratings last night. 144k viewers. Lead-in of "I love you man" had 304, so people are actively changing the channel.
I still have to imagine he will get quite a while, but if he were a smaller name the ax probably would have dropped already.
Hey, did you know that Bill's daughter plays soccer so he knows a thing or two about women's soccer? It's not like I would have actually watched anyway, but seeing him publicize Abby Wambach made me sure to not even randomly end up on the channel.
Don't forget Grantland Basketball Hour, which was awful.Simmons' attempt to become a media mogul has turned into an epic fail:
- screws up Grantland
- gets fired from ESPN
- The Ringer is terrible
- his TV show is terrible
- his site floods the market with lame podcasts that nobody wants to listen to, while simultaneously neglecting the ONE podcast (BS Report) that consistently gets good ratings.
- hasn't written a column in YEARS.
God, I remember looking forward to every Friday when Simmons would publish a new column featuring NFL picks, questions from readers, and random references to pop culture. Good times. I'd keep the column open on my screen and read it during my breaks throughout the day (or I'd print it out and bring it with me to the bathroom). It was the perfect end to every work week.
*sigh* Life goes on, I guess.

I got through the first 15 mins or so on my commute today and will catch the rest on the way home. Was enjoying it. I'm glad Kimmel stepped up and explained what "Harvard Scholars at Risk" is because when Simmons mentioned it last time, I thought it was some kind of joke. Whoever named that charity should be fired.great pod today w/ sal and kimmel
I enjoy Lombardi too. But I am annoyed he still calls NE "we" and that one of the first things he and Bill said on Friday was that some other coach was "Bellichekian." uke: Still, it's cool to hear his insight even when he's clearly being a doofus.I got through the first 15 mins or so on my commute today and will catch the rest on the way home. I've enjoyed the Lombardi segments from an entertainment standpoint, even if I disagree with a lot of what he says. Once he busted out the non-sensical "45 minute, 50 minute, 55 minute team" theory I knew why Simmons is so in love.
Two weeks in a row he has said that the Bills are incapable of scoring 30 points, yet they have 3 times in the first 5 weeks.RUSF18 said:I got through the first 15 mins or so on my commute today and will catch the rest on the way home.
