***Official Donald J. Trump Impeachment (Whistleblower) Thread*** (8 Viewers)

Watching these hearings, and it’s demoralizing. It’s remarkable, but hardly admirable, that entire Republican Party has rallied in bad faith to gaslight. Why do we elect these people?
It is amazing how different people can view these hearings.  I am genuinely embarrassed for the Democrats right now.  They are shoving through impeachment charges with no merit and they will go down in history as traitorous partisans.

I believe it's likely we're experiencing a renaissance of sorts.  Chile was a democracy for a very long time.  Then the people permitted Pinochet.  "For evil to flourish, it only requires good men to do nothing. - Simon Wiesenthal".  I don't generally subscribe to the idea people are evil.  There are.  But generally, there are good people with bad ideas.  There was a time in this country when careful, deliberate conversation about tough topics was worth arguing - with respect.  This once great country is now bearing the cost of so many people with bad ideas.

Democrats are expecting wide-scale defections among their rank and file when Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump come to the floor for a vote next week, the Washington Post reports.

The Washington Post’s Rachael Bade and Mike DeBonis wrote late Wednesday:

House Democratic leaders are bracing for some defections among a group of moderate Democrats in swing districts who are concerned a vote to impeach President Trump could cost them their seats in November.

Bade and DeBonis quote three senior House Democrat officials saying that there will be at least a half dozen Democrats who join with all Republicans to oppose impeaching President Trump, but a third senior Democrat aide told them there would probably be many more than just a half dozen defections.
So can we drop the notion that this is purely a partisan political stunt?

By the way, if you have friends who work for the FBI or CIA, don't jokingly refer to them as "deepstate."  As in, seeing him on the basketball court or at a kid's game:  "What's up, Deepstate?"  or "How's it been going, Deepstate?"

spook:  "J, you know that's a pejorative term, right?"

-- "Ummm, yeah. Why do you think I use it?  Has Trump ruined ball-busting, too?"

spook: [grumbles].

"Zelensky denied pressure" is the political equivalent of "snitches get stitches".  Something I have heard is wrong in the black community, for at least decade now, why there is so much crime, from the benevolent republicans who know better than anyone else.

There doesn't need to be merit to impeachment charges.

If he happens to be a black guy, I have a second issue we should discuss.

To be fair, Amash defected.  Of course, he had to leave the party to do it.
And there has been many (I want to say at least 20 but not going to look it up so will stick with many) Rs that aren't going to run next cycle.  Assuming many of these are due to the fact that they are not comfortable defending the current administration

Agreed, we see that right now with what the Dems are doing.  Despicable
In your opinion has President Trump done anything despicable?  Not just in relation to the impeachment scope.  Tweets, infidelity, fake charity, etc. could be examples.  If so, then why should the Democrats play nice?  If America loves despicable behavior so much (or at least is willing to completely ignore it) then I fail to see how this hurts them.

Ds need to wrap this loss up quick as they are gonna fall behind on their 2020 run because they are too busy with this losing effort.
Seems Jeff Van Drew (D) has figured it out. Van Drew said that he did not think Trump's conduct was grounds for impeachment and that impeachment would only end up helping the president in 2020.

At least he's for the USA and not for revenge from a 2016 beatdown. "I don't see anything there worthy of actually taking a president out of office," he said. "I'm concerned about splitting our nation apart." He said he believed there were other mechanisms for removing a president from office. An election, he noted, could do this. Hmmm, one D is actually thinking and not following Schiff & his 'hot garbage'. "Democrats Jeff Van Drew and Collin Peterson don't support the president," said Gaetz, but they also don’t support the "hot garbage" impeachment.

Yea, if one party has defectors, and the other doesn't.

Who is acting in a more partisan way?
"We would totally join you if only the impeachment were bipartisan. But since we have vowed as a group to oppose it from the outset no matter what, the impeachment is unfortunately not bipartisan, and we will therefore be unable to participate in your purely partisan endeavor. Such a shame."

If I remember correctly, noonan is one of the half dozen people in the world that aren't convinced that Trump is an adulterer
It’s amazing that his former personal attorney is sitting in jail after pleading guilty to campaign finance violations for paying her off, but Noonan thinks it never happened.

Paying off a porn star to keep quiet about an affair he had while his wife was pregnant?
alleged affair
This is why it's difficult to conclude that you are credible or that anything you post should ever be taken seriously.

You insist on asserting that Trump's affairs are merely "alleged" -- yet you cling hard to numerous conspiracy theories, accepting them as the gospel truth based on the flimsiest bits of rumor, innuendo, and shinfo.

Do have you have a link proving infidelity?

This is truly unbeleievable. Of all the things to go to war against anti-Trump folks over. Your arguments would be far more persuasive if you acknowledged that Trump is  at least at times, a terrible husband
We just have to accept that a huge portion of Trump's loyalist will only believe what he tells them to believe.  Take the sharpied up weather map for example, so many loyalist were defending that that it becomes impossible to have reasonable discourse.

I have said as much.  I fear that he could have cheated on Melania but that is not proven.  I believe he did cheat on previous wives so yes that counts as despicable.

I am not denying that Cohen went to jail.  I am denying their is proof of infidelity.  Paying them off for political reasons is valid too.
1.  Cohen admitted he paid a woman to keep quiet about her sexual relationship with Trump.

2.  The woman in question admitted that she got paid to keep quiet about her sexual relationship with Trump.

3.  Cohen admitted that the money came from Trump.

4.  There is audio tape of Trump talking about it with Cohen.

What more do you need?

Multiple videos where each video corroborates that the other videographer is in the room filming

I am hearing today on MSNBC that the Democrats in the Senate are eager to get this over quickly and will agree with the Republican plan of no witnesses.

I hope this isn’t true. If it is true then I’m afraid it gives credence to the Republican claim that this has been a partisan sham all along. It destroys the credibility of the Democrats and their charge of Obstruction of Congress- how can you expect anyone to agree with that charge if you’re willing to go along with the obstruction?

If the Democrats go along with this they will come off as weak and foolish, and their base will be demoralized as well.

So only confirmation from Trump himself that he cheated on his wife will suffice?

Good god. Use logic and look at all the evidence and come to a conclusion
Ha, good luck with that.  These folks still think that Trump was asking about Biden "to root out corruption" because that's what he's told them.

I wonder how Trump supporters will look back at all this when all the dirt comes out after Trump is out of office?
