I absolutely do not want to lose Zimmer.Zimmer and Gruden are mentioned a lot in the threads for the teams searching for a new HC. That makes me nervous as hell. What do you guys think?
Also, watched the game between SD and KC's back-ups yesterday. That did NOT make me nervous as hell. SD can't beat the Bengals. Only the Bengals can. Here's to limiting turnovers and stupid penalties!
Agree. I would prefer to have them both back, but would hate to lose Zimmer moreso than Gruden. We really need to win this game!I absolutely do not want to lose Zimmer.Zimmer and Gruden are mentioned a lot in the threads for the teams searching for a new HC. That makes me nervous as hell. As for Gruden, this wouldn't sting nearly as much as losing Zimmer would. It wouldn't hurt to get some new offense in here. Only thing I don't like is having Dalton changing schemes.
I feel fairly confident about the Bengals coming out with a win this weekend, but it is the Bengals so I am always nervous regardless. I just hope it sells out, so I can watch it on TV.
Probably for the same reason Indy and Green Bay are having the same issue. Holidays aren't a cash-rich time for folks and relatively late notice on when exactly the game would be. The NFL sets the prices as well which could be part of the issue. Speaking for myself it's a 630-mile drive (which is a bit too much) and the flight would be $500-plus. Not that there's a large out-of-town base for the Bengals or Colts. Why are there tickets still available to the tune of about 8,000-10,000? What am I missing? Very winnable game, playoff home victories are hard to come by. I remember being at the Flutie-Fiedler Bowl in Miami about 13-15 years ago, I remember Eric Moulds killing us but pulling it out late for a Miami win before we got clocked the next week.
Support the team.

San Diego's defense didn't show up in the 1st half. On the offensive side of the ball, SD receivers dropped several catchable deep balls, balls they normally snag. And the INT was a fluke; KAllen feel down coming out of his break. Also, watched the game between SD and KC's back-ups yesterday. That did NOT make me nervous as hell. SD can't beat the Bengals. Um, how is it going to snow if it's 37 degrees outdoowain said:SELLOUT!
And 100% chance of snow. High of 37. I'll take it.
Welcome to the jungle....the cold, snowy jungle...surfer dudes.

Won't be 37 all day. Snow in the morning. And expecting the heaviest snowfall in 3rd and 4th quarters when it dips back below freezing. Anyway....that's what the "experts" are predicting.Um, how is it going to snow if it's 37 degrees outdoowain said:SELLOUT!

If it sold out immediately, then the price of tickets was too low. The perfect price point for tickets is where they sell out just a couple days before the game. So the league has them priced pretty well I think. Why are there tickets still available to the tune of about 8,000-10,000? What am I missing? Overall, just a poor game for the Chargers. But I think you're selling them short if you think they can't beat the Bengals, These are two fairly evenly matched teams. You guys have by far a better defense, but I'd argue we have a significant advantage at the most important position on the field (QB).
Going to be a great game. Sunday morning can't get here quick enough!
Marvin Lewis explicitly addressed the elephant in the room recently, in stating that until Dalton wins a playoff game, the rumblings will continue (right or fair or not).Move over Tony Romo,Andy Dalton is officially the WORST big game QB in the NFL
The problem is, there is no easy or realistic way to replace Dalton. He's better than the FA options just about any given year and Cinci is good enough with him that they won't be in a position to draft a guy. It's almost like adaption is a mad genius who has created the ultimate job security for himself.Having a guy like Dalton on a team this talented might be one of the worst situations to be in for a GM. Ride Dalton again and it's the definition of insanity. Pull the plug and you have growing pains with a young replacement on a talented veteran team. Sucks either way

Good posting. Dalton is only the fifth QB in NFL history to make the playoffs in his first three seasons (Luck and Wilson be no. 6 and 7 next year). Problem is he plays quite bad in the spotlight, be it playoffs or S/MNF. He will probably retire as the only QB to make the playoffs 12 years in a row. And he will be 0-12 in the playoffs. Sucks indeedHaving a guy like Dalton on a team this talented might be one of the worst situations to be in for a GM. Ride Dalton again and it's the definition of insanity. Probably right this year, though Dalton was himself a second rounder. The problem is, there is no easy or realistic way to replace Dalton. The Bengals have historically been a very patient/tolerant franchise, almost to a fault. But good point, unclear what better options would be available. Wilson was an improbable find for SEA in the third (and not sure they want to start a controversy with that high a pick), but perhaps they could try and strike gold with a mid-round gem and discovery like Foles? What is the current backup/developmental QB situation?
thanks, and yeah, they need a backup/developmental-type upgrade. maybe torn ACL twins aaron murray or mettenberg (who might have have been a borderline first rounder before the injury, or at least a second round possibility), they could fall to the third or fourth if not even lower, and represent bargains? 2014 probable redshirt year, giving dalton's inevitable 2014 season another year to prove himself and the organization another, possibly last, evaluation. also, mccarron's star may be on the wane, boyd on the up?Josh Johnson is the backupProbably right this year, though Dalton was himself a second rounder. The problem is, there is no easy or realistic way to replace Dalton. McElroy on PS
Zac Robinson on IR/PUP
I like the idea of trying to strike gold with a 3rd/4th. Where we draft the top 5 QB's will be gone anyway
I think arm strength is important but overblown. Ask the Ravens if Dalton can't get the ball downfieldSanchez made the playoffs his first two years, but that wasn't a good indicator in his case. Of course, Dalton is better, and was much better value where he went.
What was Matt Ryan's playoff record when he was at a comparable stage of development, seems like he had a rep for not being a good playoff QB... until he won a playoff game? If he lost a few initially, the moral there, he turned out OK.
Arm strength is a prevalent question (even a thread about it). If he has somewhat hinky arm strength, is it possible this is compounded in the winter when the elements can play a bigger role in the eventual outcome, and the wind can be a bigger factor (obviously if he has lost in domed stadiums or in warm weather environments, that would be irrelevant, but otherwise, it could be relevant?).
Will do in a bit. But yeah we're gonna start a new one after this :(QG, you can start the 2014 off season thread now. We have a lot to discuss...
I don't have numbers to back this up, but I don't think teams fire a "defensive" HC and then replace him with another defensive coach very often.Marvin needs to move on.
Zimmer needs to be promoted to HC
Oh god please let this happen.I have had a vibe that Marvin may move on.
