I think Zellman was nervous.

BTW, Tony just couldn't let sleeping dogs lie. Not only did he lose a big ally in Zellman, but Irina caused the separation (which helped cause me to really hate Carmella even more).

I did not hate her but she was very inconsistent

In the early days she seemed to understand and almost condone Tony's whoreing (remember her talk with the priest).

Then she had two almost flings herself, with the painter and with Furio, neither of which she ended

She finally snapped when Tony's whoreing came into her household with the phone call.

:lmao: Tony cheats with every catcher's mitt known to man. Carmella tries to rationalize what she's living with. She then "almost" has 2 affairs herself, never actually crossing that line herself (would she have? maybe.), and thus has no right at all to be upset about Tony cheating.

It's like the Walk/Schuylier thing all over again. I know why it happens, but it still seems strange to me.

It wasn't an affair but as I mentioned in a previous post, she turned herself into the exact thing she hated Tony for, and that was being a whore (she traded sex to help AJ).

Just another reason why Carm was a very inconsistent but interesting character.

She and Tony were separated. Gray area maybe, but not a textbook affair.

 
after re-watching a ton of episodes on HBO the last month its pretty fair to say that some episodes and plots hold up superbly while others are just junk. The Furio/Carm angle, the realtor/christopher, AJ/Puerto rican chick and my most hated the Bobby b/janice partnership. Just brutal and unnecessary.

great show all around though

 
As terrible an actor as Robert Iler is, he absolutely killed it in the scene where Tony saved him from the half-hearted suicide attempt in the pool. Such a raw, powerful scene. But maybe I'm just giving him too much credit.... he probably had a lot of practice in real life crying like a little b-tch.

 
I can just imagine Gandolfini getting the script for that episode, reading it, getting to that scene, and thinking to himself, "I have to do a serious scene about a suicide attempt with him?"

I have to admit though that Gandolfini's mini-jog and jump into the pool was LOL-worthy.

Agreed on all counts.

I really don't get why Christopher, who has a SMOKING HOT WIFE at home, has to stick his #### into a kinda rough looking realtor with an appreciation for drugs. Just baffles me.

You know what I think about Furio/Carm. AJ/Blanca wasn't terrible as I guess they wanted to give AJ something to do. And screw Janice.

a. Mafia guys almost always have women on the side.

b. Christopher also had an appreciation for drugs.

c. Deciding to marry some random chick he accidently impregnated wasn't suddenly gonna make him not want to bang other women.

C. It did kind of bug me that Christopher marries this woman literally 5 seconds after we're introduced to her. We spent the better part of 5 seasons waiting for the Christufuh/Adrianna marriage and then we go from new woman to wedding ring in the first 5 minutes. From his interaction with Tony at the Bing, it did seem that he was seeing her for a while. But yeah, one of a few inconsistencies that marred the last few seasons (don't get me started on Carm again).

No, she wasn't some 22-year old stripper with a smoking bod, but Julianna was pretty damn attractive, if you ask me.

In the case of Chrissy marrying Kelly, yeah, it did seem fast to us, but remember that Adriana's inability to have children was a hold-up for him at one point, so when he got his current g/f pregnant, he probably figured, "Might as well marry her."

I don't know...I love it when he goes all "PR Pride" and then gets dumped at the parade!......I laughed.

 
Just watched when Tony killed Ralphie again. Loves the sounds when Ralphie is scrambling the eggs..then when he sprays Raid in Tonys eyes. What I did not notice before is after Tony kills Ralph is when he puts his hand on the lit burner on the stove.

Not only was she hot, but she wasn't a moron like the Russian nor mentally ####ed like Gloria. But, she did kind of go from fun loving to a little naggy before she caught fire (it's noticeable when you watch episodes back to back). Another small inconsistency in a Sopranos character.

That story has been all over the net for years. I just read about again in a recent story on the Sopranos again this year

So you have to wonder how often that's the motivation for getting rid of various characters, and we never hear about it. Who was the guy on Sopranos who couldn't learn his lines and...

MZS: Robert Loggia.

MZS: Right, because, 'This can't continue.'

Bunting: What was that one scene where he's speechifying at the card table? Apparently, it took them three days to shoot it because it was just impossible.

I just saw an old episode of "Hill Street Blues".

I had completely forgotten about Daniel J. Travanti. Now there's the guy who should have replaced Frank Vincent.

That would have been an awesome casting.

Ralphs intro and feud with T begins (When Ralph goes to see Tony at Vesuvio and he barely looks up from his dish of macaroni while bumping Ralph up is one of my favorite scenes ever)

Chrissy getting made

Some standout episodes, obviously the Pine Barrens. I love the Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes, the Bobby Sr episode. And Junior ending the season singing Ungrateful Heart after the Jack Jr funeral was a top all time moment.

Lets not forget Aaron (He is risen) and the Hasidic homeboy

 
Every time I think, "Ok, I'm going to give this series a break for a few years," HBO starts running it from the beginning and I get hooked again.
