⚽ Soccer Match-day Thread (4 Viewers)

I was on the phone with a lawyer who is a Man United fan. He was watching the game on Peacock in his office and I was following on ESPN. Turns out when I mentioned the equalizer he was still a few minutes behind so we had a moment. He also mentioned that Casemiro will now miss the game against Arsenal this weekend due to card accumulation.

He’s been in great form so it a huge miss - now ****ing Fred or McT will start. We saw how that went the last 5 minutes. It was a fantastic goal but I still think De Gea has to save that.

He’s been in great form so it a huge miss - now ****ing Fred or McT will start. We saw how that went the last 5 minutes. It was a fantastic goal but I still think De Gea has to save that.

I'll have to watch it again but a ball off the underside of the bar near side corner is hard to save.

Thoughts on the McT penalty shout?

It was a great shot but felt he cheated too much the other way but I’m sure I’m probably wrong.

McT is an idiot - I hate him. Was he fouled, it was close but I think yes - however, I have no big issue with them not calling because it wasn’t clear and obvious miss call and he always seems to be looking for fouls and he falls awkwardly.

United needed to put that away with another goal. Credit to CP but honestly they created very little and it was such a stupid free kick to give up - dangerous area and for no reason.

McT came in with so much potential, I thought he could grow into a DCM. But he hasn't grown at all. His national team likes to play him in the center of a back 3 which is also weird. He is a squad player who may need to move on like so many others (James, Pereira, etc). Side note to that, United will need to be planning for replacements for Erickson and Casemiro, they are not young and the obvious difference in class between them and anyone else is huge.

And yes they needed to be more clinical in front of goal. Rashford looked like last year's version, Anthony killed every counter being afraid of his right foot and turning to play the ball backwards, aside from his goal Bruno was off.... They were prime for a bump. Classic trap game.
 
There’s the 4th. Honestly was the result I was hoping for as a Newcastle supporter. Title is unrealistic but Top 4-6 isn’t.
 
Goal scorer was definitely on but they needed to look at Schevchinko again - would like to see it. Arsenal deserve the 3 points.

ETH has to get rid of McT - he’s truly horrible. Weghorst hold up game is actually pretty good but he got no service at all. I doubt they resign him but he’s more active than Martial ever is.
 
Great result, agree they could have looked at the earlier pass for the winner but it looked level in real time

Also have to love the thought process of casual fan going from berating Ramsdale for flapping at the Martinez goal and not just punching clear like he should, then berating DDG for not catching that high looping ball under pressure a few moments later

I thought he looked off on the initial pass too, but supposedly it was checked.

Think the result was just though. Arsenal outplayed ManU today. Crazy how Arsenal has played this year. I have trouble seeing them getting caught right now.
 
Ruud van Nistelrooy held the record for least EPL appearances with 4 hat tricks. He did it in 65 games, well out pacing 2nd place Suarez, who did it in 81 games.

Haaland just recorded his 4th hat trick.......................... in 19 EPL games...

This is historic level stuff if he can maintain even half this pace....

Theyve been remarkable- I’d have to think long and hard before I’d pick them over City still. They aren’t a 100 point team - long way to go still. I will say after today they only have to worry about City.

I agree. Arsenal is likely going to get 90+ though unless they really collapse. Man City is really the only team that can get there as well. They'd have to go on a big run, but we've seen them do exactly that the last two years, so it wouldn't shock me.
 
Arsenal look legit for sure. United is not there yet. Need a striker for sure. And they are going to have to start preparing for youth at MF. Casemiro and Erikson are so important to this team, but at 30 won't be around long. Its evident they do not have their understudies on the bench. McT and Fred aren't it.

AWB falling asleep at the far post as usual.
Antony looked terrible. Hopefully he and Sancho can get it going.

The thing that has stuck out to me about Antony is he's had a bunch of chances to run at guys recently and he doesn't have the pace I thought he did. Or he's just so poor with his right foot that he can't sustain his dribble playing on the right to run at guys.

The thing that has stuck out to me about Antony is he's had a bunch of chances to run at guys recently and he doesn't have the pace I thought he did. Or he's just so poor with his right foot that he can't sustain his dribble playing on the right to run at guys.

I agree, he doesn't look like he has confidence in his right foot. He constantly looks to cut back onto his left even when a quick or whipped ball across from his right is what's needed. His pace looks fine I just think he doesn't want to get into a spot he has to play a right footed cross. And for the person supposedly solving their right sided attack, that is a bad spot.

Will be interesting to see what happens with him as Garnacho continues to grow, Pellesti gets some run, and above all else Sancho returning to training....

Tough situation - he's looked most dangerous when he's cutting in on his left foot from the right but he can't beat defenders down the line and forget getting any crosses in. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the left to see if he can protect his dribble with the touch line and put some crosses in to Weghorst/Rashford.

He has looked good at times for sure. But not being able to go either way, gets easier to defend. And I would hate to disrupt Rashford's form by moving him over to the right.

This last game though, his touch, dribbling and passing were all bad. He couldn't even go at the goal...
