That was fun for about three minutes until Larouci couldn't make his mind up whether to clear or see a ball out for a throw, doing neither

Toon/Plop game is delivering in terms of comedy, Trent should be off as well as VVD
I don't know what's happened to TAA but he went from one of the best players on the planet to just a weak link last year at an age players generally improve. He's heading down the Dele Alli path of player development.

Now VVD with another questionable red card early for Liverpool.

Sigh.
wasn't really questionable. Clear foul. Last man. That's the rule. It seems harsh because the foul wasn't that bad but it's the right call per the rules.
Lot of bodies around for that call and it didn't seem clear that's why they were calling it. But if so, it's more understandable.
Yeah, that's what VVD was saying - he was pointing to TAA and saying he could get there but if you look at the replay, zero chance of that. Isaak was clear in on goal without that foul.

Isn't the rule denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity? Last man fouling an attacking player has never been a red card has it? VvD goes through him, and I can see a yellow, but he's not in on goal 1v1 with Alisson even if van Dijk doesn't commit the foul.

Klopp needs to get knighted ASAP.

He just can't defend and never could

Edit - doesn't help that Virgil's dropped off a cliff as well and can't continually bail him out

I think this is correct. The “last man” rhetoric is purely colloquial. The rule is DOGSO so the question is whether Isaak was in a clear goal scoring situation.

If they appeal that red card and get it overturned, that will be crazy. 2 weeks in a row forced to play with 10 men for most of the match.

Whenever this happens, I always assume they start spending money and losing desire/focus. Like I would do if you paid me 6 figures a week.

Carabao Cup round 2 games on ESPN+ this afternoon.

Well most of them - some (us included) play tomorrow, also worth noting that those teams involved in European competitions don't enter until round three. Would guess the best in terms of narrative would be Salford v Leeds, but Fulham v Spurs doesn't look bad on paper

Damn, Spurs are fun to watch. Burnley was game for almost a half but 5-2 seems fair.
So much fun. The high pressing at the 45' mark which led to the corner and the Romero bomb was something that would not have happened the last I dunno how many years. Looking forward to seeing Brennan johnson speed and Betancur added to this mix.

Liverpool are probably a year away from really competing for the biggest trophies again. -- even with three young, ground-chewing 8s to rotate in front of Mac Allister and Endo, they probably still need a real 3000 minute #6. Maybe they finish the Andre deal in the winter break.

And If VvD and Konate don't stay healthy they're light at CB as well. Matip and Gomez can pair well enough with VvD, but as a pairing or with Konate they don't look the same. Villa aside.

But they're going to be fun to watch in the same way that first Klopperation of heavy metal pressing offensive juggernaut was. They'll score goals. I'll guess they finish 2nd or 3rd this year. City; Liverpool and Arsenal 2/3; Tottenham, United and Brighton fight it out for 4-6.

Big win for Miami tonight in their hopes to make the playoffs. They seem to be in a fairly good spot given their previous record.

They are only 8 points out of a wild card spot and have played the least games of anyone in the league. teams above them have played 2-3 more games so if Miami could go on a run, they could get into the playoffs and then all bets are off.

They will have to play with out Messi though during international break....
