I think JML might have taken a self-imposed hiatus because he got in a tiff with Dr. O about the albums countdown, though I totally missed it and am just going off the fact that Dr. O said something about losing a friend from the thread.
anything nefarious or underhanded like JML claimed he was considering doing - in other words I think a majority of the voting blocks are coincidental and just similar tastes
I was just referring to JML who said he considered finding another poster or two to "cook the books" with and try to get some of his albums on the list (after people made some jokes about the Rannous Block).
Obviously that doesn't really raise to the level of "nefarious" but the comment made me a little disappointed since as you said "there's nothing at stake", it's all for fun.
I'm not mad at anyone in the thread, but I've about had it with the board also. It's not you guys. I'm just a bit through the roof and have been since June, maybe. No fun. I'm just constantly on edge and am not communicating or reading in the right mental state. It's about time for me to take a break also.

Hey @krista4 I just finished Wally Lamb’s newest The River is Waiting. It’s very good, not quite at the level of the first 2 but perhaps as good as We Are Water which I regarded as a return to form after the the awful The Hour I First Believed. Anyhow this new novel is awfully depressing but it sure keeps your interest with a strong narrative. You should pick it up.

Ok, I do remember that exchange. I will admit that when I just read it again I thought to myself that it's a pretty silly thing to get worked up about and stop posting over. THEN I took a look in the mirror and remembered my post and how upset I was about a series of posts in that thread about something I posted and the replies I got. I am not trying to put words in anybody's mouths, but what I came to realize that it was 100% on me and my current mental and physical state IRL. Right before I got sick, I had entered a pretty scary phase of self hatred and self destruction that resulted in a couple pretty scary and eye opening experiences. I had decided to make some serious changes, then I got sick and had even more time to stew and get frustrated with not being able to make any said changes. I was toying with walking away from here if not totally, at least a sizable reduction in posting.
All I am trying to say is that I really hope you and JML are doing well IRL. I fully understand all sides and reasons for these posts. If people need to step away and deal with stuff I hope they know that people miss them and their posts. I hope they know that there are people who think about them as they hear music or hear a movie mentioned or just remember previous posts and exchanges. I hope they know that there are caring people that are just a PM away in case they want to chat, vent, ask for something, whatever. If all is well and people are happy, and they don't think they get enough positive from this place, I understand and respect that too. After the countdown I am going to be a less frequent poster throughout the day as I attempt to disengage from my phone and technology in general, but I still need this place as somewhere to go to bs about movies and music. I have yet to find a source for that type of activity and distraction for my mind yet, and I do need that stimulation during the week. This is such a great group of intelligent, caring, and funny people - and I definitely don't meet many people who are as big of music and movie nerds as this place has. You are stuck with me and I am also here for anybody in the capacity I spoke of above.
