Depends. Let's say the Bucks absolutely love Durant and get the No. 1 pick and the Celtics who absolutely love Oden wind up No. 2. If the Bucks put out enough signals that they're taking Oden maybe the Celtics pony up an offer along the lines of:No. 2/Al Jefferson/future firstforOdenThe Bucks then move to No. 2, get the guy they really want and a frontcourt player they badly need and a future first as well. Works for both teams. That said, the Bucks are in such desperate need of frontcourt defense I don't see how they could pass on Oden.I can pretty much guarantee that no bad team will trade next year's #1 to move from 2 to 1. Whoever is at 2 will be happy getting whoever falls to them and call it a day.Not a terrible idea. Likely you could get next year's #1 from a predictably bad team and either Durrant or Oden.Colin Dowling said:If I got the #1, I'd trade down to 2.
LeBron would be in this draft if he went to school for four years, right?

That's a good list. Some good talent in here. I saw a mock earlier where Aaron Gray and Nick Faseizkcikussuis dropped in to the 2nd. That may well happen, but they would have easily been in the first round last season. We're basically looking at this set of players for the lottery right?Greg OdenKevin DurantYi JianlanBrendan WrightRoy HibbertJoaquim NoahCorey BrewerAl HorfordMike Conley Jr. Jeff GreenJulian WrightTiago SplitterAcie LawSpencer HawesAnyone I'm forgetting?

If Jefferson went to college for 4 years, where he would have put up monster numbers, he would be in this draft and be in the conversation with Oden and Durant.I've resigned myself to being disappointed tonight - I'm just not feeling it.If the Celtics don't get a top 2 pick, I vote for Ainge and Doc to be publicly guillotined at City Hall Plaza.

I disagree. While I don't anticipate that scenario happening (remember, statistically the Bucks likely will draft #5), absolutely a team would give up that much for Oden. He is a once in a generation player - Bill Russell with more height. He will change the game for the team he goes to. Granted Durant has special skills too, but there are 3 guys sorta like him in every draft - long, fast, athletic, can score, can rebound....he is a cut above, but there will be more play to try and acquire Oden than Durant. Are you serious? Yeah, that's kind of par for the course in Celts land lately. You just wait for the inevitable mess...I want Durant. Same feeling... It would just to be good of a thing for us to get the #1 or 2 pick so obviously it's not gonna happen.I've resigned myself to being disappointed tonight - I'm just not feeling it.If the Celtics don't get a top 2 pick, I vote for Ainge and Doc to be publicly guillotined at City Hall Plaza.![]()
Especially for 1 spot. Maybe if you're picking from mid to late but not from #2...You are wrong.Jefferson/Durant/future #1 is way too much to give up. Way too much.
Not insane. Simply not going to give away a possible franchise player without the team who wants him paying a steep price. If the price is too steep, fine the Bucks draft Oden and become a MUCH better team the second he sets foot on the court. What would be insane would be to give away Greg Oden without making the team that wants him pay a big price to get him. That's the value of having the No. 1 overall pick - especially in a year where that player is expected to be a franchise talent such as Oden. Are you serious? Was just gonna post this.I don't think you realize how good Al Jefferson is... He is gonna be an All Star in the league for a long time... An athletic 6-10, big body PF who will put up 20-12 every night... His splits after the break are the same as Dwight Howard.

I do realize how good Jefferson is which is why he's the guy I'd target in such a trade from the Bucks' perspective.I don't think you realize how good Al Jefferson is... There have been rumors for months that if the Celtics draft Oden they may look to move Jefferson. Well, in this scenario the only way the Celtics have a shot at Oden would be to deal Jefferson. I think they make the trade without a second thought. My belief is the Bucks shouldn't do it because Oden represents everything they need in addition to being a probable franchise player. Al Jefferson will never be that type of player.I think if we get Oden, we keep Jefferson... Giving us two dominating post players, have Pierce at SF and then a backcourt combo along the lines of Rondo and West. Oden would make us an instant playoff team in the East. With respect to the scenario I presented above the only way I'd deal the pick to Boston if I was Larry Harris is if the Celtics parted with Jefferson. No Jefferson, no deal. Again, I wouldn't make the trade because I like Oden more than Durant but if the Bucks believe Durant is the guy and they end up with the No. 1 pick I think they need to explore trade options that could move them to No. 2 and get some valuable pieces brought back in return.I think if we get Oden, we keep Jefferson... The Celts would not trade Jefferson if they drafted Oden. They play two different positions. Why not say that twice?I wonder if I can get the language filter to ##### out anytime someone says something like "Oden is a younger Bill Russell." THat is probably the most ridiculous thing a person can say about Oden.

ESPN.com has a 'Lottery Simulator' on their site...it projects the lottery and then does a mock draft based on the order it created. I just killed 20 minutes with it.. Fun little diversion.
It is titled 'Lottery/Mock Draft' on the linked page...
For KGs sake, I hope we stumble into the top 2.... PLEASE!
I really feel for KG and inwardly hope that Minnesota comes out with the #2. Durant/KG/Blount would be an awesome frontcourt. If we got oden, how would our formation adjust? Two in the post? Either way, i would be ecstatic. We'd have a defensive powerhouse if oden, and a terrifying frontcourt if durant. Then he's an even worse GM than I already believe him to be. I like Jefferson, but Oden's talent and potential is off the charts. In fact, I'm not sure if Ainge would even trade Jefferson straight up for Oden.
Ainge has repeatedly stated he would not trade Jefferson. And so far has turned down numerous offers for him.Not saying it is a wise move, but Jefferson proved last year that in no way should he be some sort of throw-in in any trade. Then he's an even worse GM than I already believe him to be. He wouldn't be a throw-in. He'd be a key way for the Celtics to get Oden - assuming that's the player they covet. They have nothing else to offer that would be in the Bucks' interests other than Jefferson and Pierce. I can't see them wanting to trade Pierce if they want Oden but Jefferson could be expendable. You could plug in a role player at PF between Pierce and Oden in the frontcourt and still be pretty darn good.Ainge has repeatedly stated he would not trade Jefferson. If we want Oden, which I'm not even sure we do, cuz Ainge is a nutball and I can never get a read on him, but if we do I would say... #2, Gerald Green .... I don't think we are gonna trade though.OK, to the Celtics fans who believe I'm asking for too much let me ask you what do you think would be a fair offer for the No. 1 pick if the Bucks get it and the Celtics end up at two and want Oden?

So? They probably wouldn't trade. Unless the Bucks decide they'd rather have Durant. In that case, maybe a future #1 (probably protected).Getting #1 or #2 in this draft is winning the lottery.OK, to the Celtics fans who believe I'm asking for too much let me ask you what do you think would be a fair offer for the No. 1 pick if the Bucks get it and the Celtics end up at two and want Oden?
They'd still be worse then Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Toronto, and probably Washington. Jersey is likely better as well. So, no better then 6th in the conference with that crew. No better then 9th with Doc as coach. What does everyone think the Celtics record would be if they get Oden and end up with a lineup like?PG- RondoSG- WestSF- PiercePF- JeffersonC- OdenThe backcourt would be small with Rondo at 6-1 or 6-2 and West at 6-4 but both are very good defenders. Rondo is a pass first, electric PG would gets a great amount of steals and can rebound and is lightning quick. West can shoot and drive. And then a front court of Pierce, Jefferson and Oden is scary.
Sure, find me the articles calling Harold Minor "the next Michael Jordan". His nickname was "Baby Jordan" that does not mean people thought he was the next Michael. Probably some kid on blacktop called him that and it was catchy and stuck.Don't provide links to articles saying Harold Minor never became the next Jordan, or articles that say he had been compared, find ones that actually favorably compare him to Jordan coming out of college. I don't think you will find them. He lasted until the middle of the first round - if anyone thought he was anything more than Shawn Respert, he would have gone top 2 or 3. He was saddled with a nickname (which of course he embraced - it probably earned him some cash), but as I recall there were never truly comparisons. So? Oden is a phenomenal player, no doubt. He will immediately improve the rebounding and defense of whatever team he joins. His locker room presence will likely be a positive. There shouldn't be much worry about his off-court behavior. He clearly has some serious offensive talent, even if it wasn't on display much this season.
Let's just quit comparing him to the best center ever before we know what jersey he's going to be in...

It's the price you'd have to pay to get a possible (if not probable) franchise big man. Would it be overpaying?
