Hopefully, we get Terrelle Pryor back next week and all will be right again. Can't believe we gave up a couple of draft picks and $6.5 million for Matt Flynn. Huge mistake by Reggie McKenzie looking for a stopgap in the middle of rebuilding. Pryor was there the whole time, but couldn't see what he had. If Pryor gets hurt, it's wave the white flag, or just skip Flynn already and let's see what McGoin can do. At 1-3, there's nothing to see here as far as this season. Same as it ever was. Just want to see Pryor out there again soon, and win or lose, take his lumps. Come back stronger next year.

Not sure that second draft pick is a foregone conclusion. I think it was conditional. What theses conditions are I do not know. Maybe it was number of starts, or Flynn being on the roster by Date X. Maybe the Raiders have a loop hole in terms of the conditions. I believe we are talking about a 7th round pick so it isn't a big issue.

Given the situation in Tampa, and the recent news about how they were really courting Palmer, I think Reggie merits some criticism for not getting more for him. But this is just conjecture on my part.

I agree with your take on the QB situation.

I do not think it is "same as ever" because we are playing solid defense and getting strong special teams play. Along with monitoring Pryor's progress watching these units develop will be of interest.

It is ever too soon to talk draft and off season given the team's current state. The Raiders will have a boatload of cap space this off season. I think it is a given that they will use a chunk to resign Houston and Veldheer. The need to get some impact players on offense so my guess is TE/WR will also be a focus, although I am not a fan of throwing huge money at WRs.

Given the situation in Tampa, and the recent news about how they were really courting Palmer, I think Reggie merits some criticism for not getting more for him. But this is just conjecture on my part.

I always felt that they held Palmer by the short hairs, and had no real motive to move him until the season started. I thought at the very least, McKenzie could have held Palmer ransom on draft day and dangled him out there to the teams that missed out on drafting their prize rookie QB. Not that there were many out there in this draft. I think the price as the draft approached would have gone up as teams uncertain about their QB situation started to panic. Nothing earth shattering, but more than a sawp of 6th and 7th rounders. More than that. I don't know if Palmer was willing to budge much on his salary demands, but I got to believe something could have been worked out. That deal of Palmer to Arizona had all the sophisitication of the trade to Miami of our #3 pick for their #12 pick and a 2nd rounder. Brutal... should have coerced more.

On a side note, Pryor gives you a chance....I just don't see it long term.

Check out Bloom's thoughts on him in their latest Audible podcast. I think it's "Week in review, part 2." He's in love with the kid... says he has more natural talent than Cam Newton, and he's just starting to figure out how to throw the ball. Couldn't stop gushing about his future.

Sure hope he's right.

This just in. Chargers vs Raiders game in Oakland is going to be moved to 11:35PM EST, to accommodate A's playoff baseball. I ####### hate the A's. First we got to put up with the bull#### dirt infield, and now we got to watch in the wee hours of the morning. Move to San Jose already!!

Not sure what you have been looking at, but Bloom said this a few days back and I have found him to be a pretty good judge of talent:

1. How does the defense hold up after a second loss with minimal offensive support? Do they continue to play inspired football?
2. Where is Sio? After all the off season hype, he has yet to make his presence felt.
3. Does the offensive line hold up? We have lost two starters in Veldheer and Wiz, and it can be argued another in Watson. To date, considering the injuries the Oline has done an adequate job. We started to see cracks last week.
4. If Pryor plays, does he continue to show improvement? If Flynn must go again, does he show more pocket presence than his first start?

i hope i'm wrong. it's just my opinion, everyone's got one....

You make a couple good points. He doesn't look smooth when he throws and I think he's always looked awkward passing. I think there was some story about it wasn't until just this year that's he actually learned the fundamentals of QB but I don't know if it's enough to "unlearn" all he's done before.

More to your second point, he DOES hang guys out to dry. But I think that's something that will improve with experience.

I know nothing but there was that one scout who recently said he'd take Pryor for the next 10 years over Newton.

He may not make it but it won't be for lack of trying and hard work. Combine those with the raw skills he does have and maybe...

What a huge miscalculation Flynn was. Think about how many good free agents were available back when we traded for him, and how much of an impact free agent we could have gotten for that $6.5 million. No way to score that move by McKenzie as anything but an F grade. Throw in the fire sale trade of Carson Palmer around the same time, and it only looks worse. Oof... hope Reggie learns something bout GM'ing from all this. Gonna be swimming in cap space next year.

As a Seahawk fan I would be happy with a bag of Doritos for Flynn. Flynn is horrible, he has a weak arm, can't make all the throws....and in his last 9 years of playing football he only has 16 starts. That isn't what you want.....there is a reason he isn't starting ANYWHERE. The best you can hope for is he sucks it up and you get a high draft pick out of it.

I'd have waited till at least the draft to see how the QB needy teams drafted, maybe longer into training camp. Hope that panic would set in on some teams who reached/overdrafted. We know that Tampa had interest. I think his value would only have gone up if Reggie would have waited. That said, his salary and unwillingness to budge off it may have been what tied Reggie's hands. We'll never know now. This is all just armchair GM stuff. Just an opinion, maybe I'm wrong. Just frustrated that the whole Palmer situation from crade to grave, acquisition to selloff was handled so poorly.

Josh Freeman might be back on the field quicker than most would have predicted after his divorce from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday on NFL Network's "NFL GameDay Morning" that Freeman's agent has talked to about 10 teams, including the Buffalo Bills, according to sources informed of the quarterback's situation.

Rapoport said the Raiders remain the favorite to land Freeman. The familiarity between Freeman and offensive coordinator Greg Olson is a big factor in the quarterback's chances of landing in Oakland.

Why would the Raiders look to add another quarterback?

"General manager Reggie McKenzie comes from the Ron Wolfe school of building a team: You can never have too many," Rapoport said.

The Raiders plan to work out quarterback David Carr on Monday, Rapoport reported.

NFL Media columnist Michael Silver added there still is some trepidation on both sides, and a face-to-face meeting between Freeman and Raiders brass could take place early this week, per sources. Silver said if Freeman went to Oakland, the Raiders would view him as the starter over Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor has looked good in three games this season, but it's conceivable that he could be playing for his job tonight when the Raiders host the San Diego Chargers (11:35 p.m. ET on NFL Network).

Silver included the San Francisco 49ers as a team that has some interest in Freeman, but discussions might not get off the ground because of Freeman's desire to be a starting quarterback.

Fox Sports reported Sunday that the Minnesota Vikings also are interested in Freeman. According to the report, Freeman already has spoken with coach Leslie Frazier and general manager Rick Spielman on the phone. Great win last night, er 3 or 4 hours ago. So much for sleep. The NFL went and put the Raiders on Rocky Horror Midnight Show sched.

Pryor is the man. So glad to see Freeman take his act to Minnesota. Thought Cassell was working out for them already? Now they got a full blown QB controversy, and we got our QB of the future right here and now.

When they deffered on opening kickoff, I thought that was pretty ballsy. But they came out with the intensity, and picked Rivers to get the ball around midfield for Pryor. Then Pryor makes a beauty of a throw to Streater, who made an incredible catch. The Chargers basically didn't plan to defend 50 yard bombs on a rope. They didn't know Pryor had that in him. The team was fired up from the start and carried that intensity till half. Then, I don't know if it was because of attrition of personnel, or if the defensive plan shifted to bend not break, but they kind of lost their mojo. Like they weren't used to being on top and stepping on other teams throats. I think that's something this team is going to have to learn how to do. Put away games.

Give the game ball to Pryor, and especially love what Marcel Reece was able to do in the 4th quarter to salt away the game once Jennings went down with a hamstring. Awesome showing. I'm tired of hearing on the radio how the Raiders "upset" the Chargers. The local pundits in Tampa who know nothing about the Raiders talk about how the Raiders are mess, that they probably are going to bring in Josh Freeman, that the Chargers were going to rout the Raiders. The joke of the NFL,yada yada... And the morning crew didn't stay up and watch. They attempt to describe what happened by reading box scores.

We should be 3-2, if only Terrelle didn't get concussed. Shoulda beat Washington easily. We are a lot better franchise than most anyone gives us credit for.

Pryor continues to impress. The biggest thing I noticed last night is that he tends to short arm his short routes. The receivers were constantly having to drive for the ball on stop routes, and he missed badly on a slant route. This is area that he needs to improve on if he is going to be the answer at QB. He threw some nice long balls and passes on the run. I also noticed an improvement in his bootleg passes this week.

Overall, the defense continues to play inspired football. If they just had an edge rusher that required a double team...

Offensively I have noticed they have a had a lot of 3 and outs which puts a lot of pressure on the defense. If we can improve in that area we will continue to be competitive.

I didn't get to watch the game, how good did Jennings look before the injury? Stat line looks decent enough. Was there any updates in the local media up there in the Bay about his hammy? Nothing available in national media as of yet. I only saw highlights of Reece, the dood looks like a Tolbert-type bowling ball in the little that I watched.

Almost like he is throwing a dart. He needs to throw the ball with more velocity on short routes and not aim the ball. He has the arm to do it so DBs do not have as much time to drive on the ball. Overall though very impressive.

I don't know if I can criticize Pryor for short arming his short routes. Remember back last year and in preseason when he'd put too much air and float the ball out there hanging his receivers out to dry. I almost think he's better at the slight underthrow, gives his recievers a chance to put a body betweent them and the defender. Also improving his touch on the back shoulder throw. I saw nothing but improvement over his first few games, and I was already impressed. The one thing that we need badly is for Wiz to come back and play center. Gurode kept stepping on Pryor's foot, and we got lucky that it didn't lead to a catastrophic turnover or worse, an Pryor ankle injury.

Before the season started I was about as anti-Pryor as any Raider fan out there, but I have to give the guy credit. He obviously has worked hard and improved leaps and bounds. Dare I say he even might be the QB of the future.If they stay competitive and keep improving they might miss out on the Bridgewater sweepstakes anyway. With Flynn gone now it appears the team is going all in with Pryor now. How fitting is it that Al Davis' final draft pick might be his best draft pick in 15 years and the potential face of the franchise for years to come.
