As far as market value, Gio has the most value of the players involved.
Gio > Harvin
Are you talking post hip surgery? Because I don't think anyone would have traded Harvin for the 1.01 this year and Gio didn't even go 1.01 in some leagues.
I'm still not sure that Harvin for Gio would be a "no-brainer" even after the injury. Bernard may not have a major impact this season if BJGE is still in the mix, and Harvin is projected to be back by Week 13.
Yes, I'm talking about current value. I am assuming the trade happened post-injury-disclosure as it was posted today.
Bernard's ADP is 36 according to DLF. Maybe we can agree he is overvalued at that ADP but it would cost a lot to acquire him. Taking a step back, I'm mainly responding to the "oof" classification. It's reasonable to say you'd rather have Harvin but I think Bernard carries more value right now. I think this trade reflects that as Michael has more value than Randle IMO.
Gio's 2013 production is 2ndary. He's a young RB. He just has to show he belongs this year to solidify his value. Similarly I think we expect Harvin to not be 100% even if he comes back this year. He doesn't have to be a useful player this year either. As I said, the bet is on who is more of a focus of the offense in 2014.
