2014 ACC Basketball [Closed - use 2015 thread instead] (1 Viewer)

GT wins their opener in the new arena fairly easily. All 3 freshmen played major minutes and Georges-Hunt and Bolden will be key scorers with D. Miller and Holsey. Robert Carter will be good too. I like this team.

Maryland looked ok early vs. Kentucky, but the last 5-6 minutes have been ugly for the most part.

Duke did enough to win comfortably. No surprises other than a DNP for preseason starter Alex Murphy...

If Maryland rebounds like they did all year, they will finish top 3-4 in the league, as they are going to hit more shots and get better on offense as the season progresses.

I half watched the Maryland-Kentucky game. Maryland looked pretty impressive, especially Len.
Maryland's shooting in the 1st half was frighteningly bad. I'm gonna chalk it up to nerves for now because I don't want to have to deal with the implications that they can shoot that bad ever again. On the positive side, they rebounded great and they hustled their way back into the game. Len & Padgett were very good, as was Mitchell off the bench. I feel much better abot the inside game than I did this time last year and I think the outside shooting will normalize.WTF is with those uniforms? Gray isn't one of the 87 colors on the MD state flag.

They were supposed to be "flannel" throwbacks in honor of Brooklyn.

Gotcha - thanks. Thank God it's a - fingers crossed - one time thing.

So Duke and UNC get to play in Raleigh. Where does NC State get sent?

Yeah, sucks for State fans... assuming we're still relevant in 2 years. ;)

Kentucky Wildcats guard Ryan Harrow will not play against Duke on Tuesday because of flu-like symptoms, according to **** Vitale on Twitter.

Harrow was limited during the Wildcats' season-opening 72-69 win over Maryland on Friday. Harrow hasn't practiced since the Maryland game, according to Kentucky coach John Calipari.

Jarrod Polson will start in Harrow's place at point guard Tuesday. In 22 minutes in the season opener, Polson scored 10 points, hauled in two rebounds and had three assists.

Built in excuse if duke wins. (which they will, IMO)

Ollie from Hoosiers blew his load against Maryland on Friday

Eh... KY wasn't going to win or lose because of Harrow. He's just not an impact player.
I agree, fans around here don't seem too upset about Harrow being out. Anyone using that as an excuse for the loss (which I expect too BTW) are just grasping at straws. I would also be surprised if Polson play as well tonight (or ever again) as he did against Maryland. Hoping I'm surprised, but should be a fun game either way. Go Cats!

Plumlee just cannot finish with a body on him. Dunks and open layups/shots sure...but make him have to adjust at all and it's rattling him.

That 2nd foul on plumlee really hurt.

Duke still weak at the point. Cook just not getting it done yet. He also dribbles way too high for a guy who's probably 5'11

Good play by cook to attack Poulson on the break. You have to punish UK for playing him on the defensive end.

Got to see Ryan Anderson up close in personal this past weekend. Very impressed with his inside game. The only bright spot for BC.

dunno what his NBA stock is but I saw a few scouts in attendance.

:lmao: at Calipari at the half time interview:

"They're floppin' all over the place... in the NBA they'd all be suspended."

Sulaimon looks like he's going to be the perimeter athlete Duke typically lacks if he can just get his shot to fall.
Yeah, the shots will fall but everything else is positive. Cook looks to be a nice PG. Sheed, Cook, Curry will be a pretty potent 1-2-3 but will struggle defensively. Looks like Murphy is odd man out.

Sulaimon is the most gifted shooter duke has had since redick. Great form and he gets plenty of lift. Just needs to get his footwork and off the ball movement down. He's going to be a killer.

Unfortunately he's just too small to guard poythress.
