The speed if this offseason is giving me fits
my BIl said our tickets came in. Now we have to split them up. I'll probably go to a few less games this year since my son is playing mite hockey. Maybe 10-15Got my B's games for the upcoming season ... Blackhawks, Oilers, Sharks, Stars and the Fightin' Ruds (who, for some reason, I haven't seen play live since I don't know when).
Probably easier to scalp those Sabres tickets for a huge profit each year.Got my B's games for the upcoming season ... Blackhawks, Oilers, Sharks, Stars and the Fightin' Ruds (who, for some reason, I haven't seen play live since I don't know when).
I've been dying to get to SJ. Also looking into maybe catching a game on the Island again before they move.Aaron Rudnicki said:Probably easier to scalp those Sabres tickets for a huge profit each year.Dickie Dunn said:Got my B's games for the upcoming season ... Meh. I don't see much of a rivalry there and that will be the 2nd Winter Classic for both teams. I understand the NHL is going for $, but I'd rather see some new teams in the WC. Counting this one there have been 7 WC's but only 9 different teams.
24/7 dead now too. Hopefully it will be played in the rain again, what a wonderful event.Aaron Rudnicki said:I'm kind of over the whole outdoor hockey thing. last year ruined it a bit.
I'm still excited for 24/7 though.
well, #### the winter classic then.24/7 dead now too.Aaron Rudnicki said:I'm still excited for 24/7 though.
lots of good changes in there. spin-o-rama rule is stupid but not a big deal imo.
It should be interesting to see how much they enforce the tripping revision.lots of good changes in there. spin-o-rama rule is stupid but not a big deal imo.
That seemed a bit strange to me. I can just imagine the #####ing which will go on if they ever handed out a penalty for a second infraction since there's got to be a good measure of subjectivity involved in that.face-off rule is completely stupid. they are essentially giving the center a free chance to cheat on the first drop since he is forced to stay in the dot. I get what they are trying to do, but they completely whiffed and gave the defending team a further advantage.

Think you could snag any Red Wings tickets at the garden? I want to hit a Wings game at every original six venue.my BIl said our tickets came in. Now we have to split them up. The tripping rule is really only a player/forward safety rule. What they are trying to do is stop the D man from chasing a guy down from behind, both going full speed, and taking him out so that both players end up crashing into the boards. Wether you 'got' the puck or not is irrelevant b/c 9 out of 10 times you can't play it and while yes, you broke up a (very good) scoring chance, you added more opportunity for injury to the forward and the goalie. Not sure how I like the tripping revision, but I'm willing to give it a go. Like the diving rules.
The HBO version is dead but the NHL did a deal with Epix to continue the series.24/7 dead now too. Hopefully it will be played in the rain again, what a wonderful event.I'm kind of over the whole outdoor hockey thing. last year ruined it a bit.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capitals-insider/wp/2014/09/15/nhl-partners-with-cable-network-epix-for-winter-classic-all-access-show/The NHL has finalized plans to team with premium cable network Epix to film and broadcast an all-access television show preceding the annual Winter Classic, an individual with knowledge of the situation confirmed Monday.
The news of the partnership, which will be formally announced at a news conference at Nationals Park on Sept. 23, was originally reported by ESPN.com.
According to ESPN, Epix will produce four episodes leading up to the Washington Capitals-Chicago Blackhawks afternoon outdoor game on New Year’s Day, each showcasing the behind-the-scenes material made popular by the previous installment, HBO’s 24/7. Last week, both HBO and the NHL confirmed that they had parted ways, but the league made promises to create a similar venture with another network. As it turns out, that network will be Epix, a cable collaboration of Lionsgate Entertainment, MGM and Paramount Pictures, per ESPN, and the two sides have also planned a similar reality series leading to the Los Angeles Kings-San Jose Sharks game at Levi’s Stadium, the new football stadium for the San Francisco 49ers.
“The great thing you see with the all-access, you see it in the NHL and the 24/7 types of things, those are things people don’t see,” Capitals Coach Barry Trotz said Monday. “Even those, there are some great stories, but it’s also the individual aspect. Sometimes people forget that players have families.
“They’re regular people doing something that’s extraordinary in their field and you tend to forget that there’s a really good human side to everything. There’s a reason why a guy’s maybe not playing, you see the behind the scenes a guy’s hurt, he’s dealing with that, maybe some personal problems, whatever. Those are the things that people don’t see, which I think opens and sheds a great light.”
Last season, as the Red Wings and Maple Leafs got the all-access treatment, coaches Mike Babcock and Randy Carlyle both booted cameras from their locker rooms. Trotz said he understood the sentiment, but didn’t anticipate any issues because “Anything to help the Capitals or the NHL, we definitely want to do that.”
“On the bad side of that is you always talk about the locker room being sacred,” Trotz said. “The men that go in the locker room, for a lot of people, are the people who sweat and broke bones together. It’s a very tight group, then you open it up and it’s not as sacred. There’s a fine line. Everybody says oh it’s great to have access. But at the same time there’s a sacredness of being at this level in that locker room. It’s their room. Sometimes by opening it up too much it becomes, to me, less sacred and therefore you lose a little bit of that tradition, that order that makes those things go. Membership has its privileges, and if you’re not a member, sometimes maybe you shouldn’t have that privilege. That’s the dilemma that coaches have with all-access sometimes.”
Like many hockey fans, Trotz found himself watching the “24/7” series for its unfettered access and candidness. Now he and the Capitals, who were filmed for the 2011 installment, find themselves on the other side. Here’s more on Epix, from that ESPN story:
But with HBO’s parent company, Time Warner, looking to reduce costs across the board, NHL officials became concerned about whether the same quality would be produced for a product that garnered 15 Emmy nominations and three Emmy awards. Enter Epix, which was exploring producing more original content as opposed to simply airing Hollywood movies. Epix was launched in October 2009. President Mark Greenberg has a long history working for HBO, and producer Ross Greenburg is the former HBO senior executive who helped launch the original “24/7″ in 2011 that featured the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Officials with Epix reached out to NHL officials to discuss the possibility of working with the league as a way to expand their sports documentary library. Their most recent project, an examination of how the color barrier was broken in the NFL in the 1940s entitled “The Forgotten Four,” is produced by Greenburg and is gaining significant buzz in advance of its release.

I guess Pax was busy that weekwtf is epix?
the NHL Revealed series that the NHL did last year regarding the stadium series games was very good and along the same lines as 24/7. I'm sure they can put out something solid here.
I don't think so. Looks too skinny to be able to hit his mouth.New York Rangers' goalie Marcel Paille displays an early goaltender's mask.
You'd think they would figure out that a puck could still fit through there.
The question then becomes, “What the hell is an EPIX?”
You know when you’re flipping through the cable guide and you see “Marvel’s The Avengers” on and you try to watch it and it says aren’t subscribed to that network?
That’s EPIX.
