After Week 1, which player do you most regret having on your roster? Which player do you most wish you'd found room for?

For me the regret is Jordan Cameron and wishing I'd put Orange Juice there instead. I could have scrapped a WR and made it so.

I had Knowshown and Mark Ingram on my roster for a long time and decided to "upgrade" to Gore and Deangelo. The thinking was that Gore might not be done yet, and I also already had Stewart, so Deangelo gives me the whole backfield. (Minus Tolbert)

no regrets yet... glad i survived the week with both dez and demaryius being unproductive

edit... forgot i spent $18 on witten.... :)

A few quick updates:

  • The ownership stats page has been updated to include survival rate by roster size. More cuts will come later in the week. http://o.ffense.com/fbg35k/owned.php
  • There were three kickers whose score on my site was 1 point less than the official score on FBG this morning. I adjusted their scores so everything on my site should now match the official results for week 1. I'll look into why this happened, but my initial suspicion is that it's an issue with the stat feed and if that's the case these types of small discrepancies may be unavoidable. I'll do my best to have everything as accurate as possible but once again, my results should always be considered unofficial.
  • I updated the "Leaderboard" on the live scoring page so that all of your linked entries will appear there, so you can see them all at a glance. If you only have 1 (or 0) linked entries on the site you won't notice a difference, but if you have more than 1 they should all be showing up now (let me know if they don't). Last night you may have noticed I added "23-kicker guy" to the leaderboard as well. Every year there's someone who submits an entry with 20+ kickers, and it's a bit of a thread tradition to watch how long they survive. :)
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions let me know!

Survived fairly easily even though I have Lacy, Peterson, and Gerhart. It paid going studs at almost every position.

Regret having: Rice (duh)

Regret not having: Steve Smith was on almost every iteration but not the final one.

170 with room to improve-- Demaryius and Jimmy Graham both under-performed, IMO.

1) most regret on roster - MJD @ $15 might have been too pricey

2) most regret off roster - I think my RBs kinda suck. wish I could've made room for a Murray or somebody

So the overall cut rate was 94%. Some interesting stats....

Aaron Rodgers - survival rate of 88.61%....meaning only 86% of the teams who had A-Rod survived. that's the lowest I've found in my 10 minutes playing with the query

I wish I would have kept my first thought and went with Calvin and Bell over Dez and Ball. All the talk of the arrest and Blount scared me off of Bell, and the thought of the former Lions offensive coordinator with the Cowboys swayed me. Plus not having a dollar over made me feel good about my team.

Hindsight: not sure why I rationalized taking Lacy over Beast mode.

Bonus Babies: Steve Smith, Moreno

179 with sub par performances from Lacy, Jordy, Demarius, Graham, Gronk, Brady.

190 week 1. I had accidentally picked Marlon Brown instead of John Brown for last WR. I went in to correct it at last minute and did some tweaking of team - kept hitting button to check $ spent until "Contest is now closed". I never did save the changes so I ended up with Marlon Brown.

965th place (top 6.8%). I'll take it, hopefully able to sustain that with my 26 man roster.

Interesting to see the 23 PK guy still around. Interesting strategy, guaranteed (RB1) production all year long basically.

Doug Martin is my biggest regret at the conclusion of week one. Thought he was a great value and I went kind of light at RB to load up at WR and TE, so if he doesn't get it together, I'm wounded!

This is my favorite format for fantasy football. No major regrets yet, though I'm questioning the selections of Gore, Keenan Allen and Ravens D.

Question: is there a way to query the scores of all individual players in the contest each week?

It's early. Lacy isn't going to play the Seahawks every week. It'll open up.

The Packers have a hard early passing schedule but weeks 8-16 are nothing but above average matchups. Any team with Packers at that stage will be sitting pretty for a stretch run.

Same thing with Dez. Dallas has a brutal passing DEF schedule for almost the entire season. But weeks 15/16 are mad juicy. That's why I took him. He's somewhat matchup proof and if you can get a team to the playoffs Dez will drop 25+ both weeks.

I believe you mentioned that you are using `nflgame` to do your scoring. The play by play data that `nflgame` uses is notoriously missing the extra points following touchdowns; in my league I noticed that Blair Walsh and CodyParkey were both missing XPs from Sunday. I have worked around this by using `nflgame.combine_game_stats(games)` instead of `nflgame.combine_plays(games)` for extra points (and most stats to be honest) and relying on `nflgame.combine_plays(games)` only for made field goal (because I'm interested in length), missed field goals (again interested in length), kick returns, punt returns, and defensive statistics.

I'm actually not using the nflgame module. I'm using the same JSON feed but I wrote my own code to do the scoring. I see what you're saying though - I was using the play-by-play portion of the feed to grab the kicker stats because also I need the length of the FGs, but for example in the Vikings game, it's missing Walsh's XP after the INT return TD. But in the rolled up stats at the top of the feed it correctly shows Walsh with 4 PAT, so I should be able to use that instead. Thanks!

Edit: This should be fixed now. Hopefully kicker stats will be accurate going forward.

Edit2: I think I fixed the reason why the HOU blocked punt TD didn't show up in the scoring, too.

1st week regrets: Romo, Latimer

1st week loves: 3-headed TE, Markus Wheaton

I also have Benjamin, who is obviously a "love" but since half the entries have him, a little less love.

Only one of the 13 of us went down. :moneybag: so far
Wow - 75 points from the TE position/flex, and a team was eliminated? Must have done very poorly at the other positions...
Yup...8 TE guy.

8 TEs after spending that much of the top-3 was clearly a waste of money. How many of the remaining 13 have more than the 3 TEs?

Odd week for my team. Easily advanced, but only 2 of my players topped 20, with 23 being the high, but my lowest counting score was 14. Plus I had a monster PK score not count (Bryant) and I had 3 9+ pointers not count.

I'm really not sure that's a good thing if 1 week is an accurate reflection on the rest of the season. You can't advance in this thing without the semi-regular 35 point explosions across your roster.

Let's see after 1 week.

Luck - Happy with this pick. Still convinced I can get top-line points for a lower price without the risk of your Romos or Cutlers.

Flacco - Happy with this pick. He's not great but the fact that they'll have him throw 62 times says a lot. He's durable. He can have the odd good week. For $8 what's not to like.

Bortles - Poke and hope. Nothing to love yet.

Lacy - Nervous now. More so b/c I didn't back him up with Starks.

Morris - I'm fine with this pick still. Though I had Mathews here and switched him out - that may prove a mistake.

Hill - I think Hue will gameplan week to week and I also think that he didn't want to put the rookie into crucial spots yet with Gio as an option. Still holding out hope.

Ingram - Good game and I think he'll remain in the mix all year. Limited upside but he's a guy that can chip in which at $9 works.

White - So far looks like a mistake. Another preseason Patriot hype that shows nothing. I mean it's $4 and 1 week so not gonna give up hope yet.

Turbin - A $2 guy that's in the game plan and getting looks is a good thing. So I'm happy here.

AJ Green - Does what he does, came on late with the big play. Blue chip.

Maclin - He scored so I'm happy. Cooper looks like he wasn't a factor either. Fine with him so far.

Torrey Smith - Is looking like a great pick from where I sit.

Jennings - I think this guy is gonna be :moneybag: and a good guy at the price. Happy.

Benjamin - The excellent value that half of us knew had to be on the team. Glad I'm in the club.

Wheaton - Happy with him too. And the Steelers look like they're more of a passing team than in the past.

Sanu - Perhaps wasn't as great as expected but he still got his looks and at the price I'm happy. I have 7 WRs that all legitimately can contribute in any give week. Happy

Cameron - The shoulder business has me concerned especially if it's all-year thing. Too early to give up the ship.

Zach Ertz - Is he the first player in NFL History to have a name that starts and ends in Z? Oh and he looks like a good buy.

Amaro - Didn't get as many looks as I hoped - but he did get some so I'm cool with him.

Rivera - 3 catches at his price, I'm okay with it - not a pure waste should hit the scoring sheet once in a while.

Sturgis - Was solid

Walsh - Was solid

Freese - Not as many points as hoped. But I'm a 3-K guy and I think all 3 will be fine and keep their job.

Minnesota - Good stuff this week.

Kansas City - I think the return game will prove out.

Pittsburgh - Can't love how they looked vs. Cleveland but it's early yet. Again I love diversifying Defenses to lower risk. I'm fine rolling these 3.

So all-in-all I feel pretty good so far.

My Jordan Reed, Tyler Eifert, Richard Rodgers TE corps isn't looking too good right now...

QB - Very happy with Dalton/Ben/Locker/Bortles
RB - Lacy/Morris have me a little nervous (concussion/team suckage); Happy with DeAngelow/Bradshaw/Ingram; Andre Williams is a crapshoot
WR - Very happy about ABrown/Patterson/Boldin/Benjamin/Hunter; JBrown/Beasley/Sanu should provide some insurance, and I think Latimer will get involved as the season goes on. MBrown may have been a whiff.
TE - Cameron instead of Julius looking like a dodgy decision to save $4.

Colts D looking like less of a good choice with Mathis going down but maybe I'll only need them once or twice.

Only thing I possibly regret, based on Week 1 alone, is how productive a season Orange Julius looks like he'll have yet again.

Hey all, I wasn't able to be near a computer last night so I didn't get to make any changes. I skimmed through the thread and it looks like there are some questions, suggestions, etc. I should have a chance tonight to go back through and respond to everyone.

I did adjust the score for the Texans D, so that should be correct now. I think QG mentioned an issue with some kicker scoring, I haven't checked that yet and won't get a chance to until later this evening.

If anyone notices anything else let me know and as I said, I'll try to go through and address all questions later tonight.

Thanks!
actually, looks like you were correct on the texans d. fbg is only giving me 13 points for them. i guess you dont get any points for blocked punt tds. wonder if anyone missed the cut bc of that lol.

 13 is correct. 2 fumble recoveries (4 points) + 3 sacks (3 points) + 1 blocked punt TD (6 points) = 13 points. My site was originally displaying 7 points, because it wasn't counting the TD, but I corrected it to 13.
